Chapter 483: Eating Melon and Watching from the Sidelines
The Legend of Sword and Fairy Chat Group.
Tang Yu: “(Laughs heartily) I say... do any of you want to come to Lingzhou for fun?”
As several great cultivators mentioned it within the discussion group, at some unknown point, the news spread to the ears of the disciples of the Haotian Academy.
Though they knew not whether it was true or false, such an idea acted like a spark, immediately causing the thoughts of these youngsters to scatter and multiply.
Fifth Prince Ji Yang: “(With disdain) Why don't you people come to our Great Jin Kingdom for fun instead?”
Xu Zixin: “Exactly, Lingzhou is far too distant.”
Black Demon: “Come to our Half-City.”
Song Qingfeng: “(With disdain) In that wretched place of yours, one gets beaten up just walking down the street, who would go?”
At the Half-City branch, the corners of Black Demon’s mouth twitched violently as he sat before his computer: “Do you have the guts to come over here, you brat? This seat will surely give you a sound thrashing!”
He still could not forget the sting of having his crops stolen and being blacklisted.
“...”
Xiaoyue: “Sister Su said she is coming to Lingzhou to see me! (With pride)”
“What the hell?!”
“I'm going too!”
“Take me along!”
At the Jiuhua City branch, Xue Daolv, the Sect Master of the Liuyun Daoist Palace, took off his virtual headset. Looking at Su Tianji, who sat in the opposite seat sipping milk tea while watching her own vegetable patch and casually chatting on Penguin, he shouted: “Junior Sister, you plan to go to Lingzhou?”
“Yes, every day I am either sitting in this shop or staying in the sect, so I intend to go out and wander about,” Su Tianji said. “Isn’t it quite nice to go to Lingzhou and see Xiaoyue?”
Gongshu Kuo was keeping a close eye on his game of StarCraft while listening in all directions. Suddenly hearing such explosive news, he remarked: “It is far too distant. Even with the Sword-Kiting Technique, it would take an immense amount of time. Setting aside the journey itself, given the perils that exist within the deep ocean, this old man feels you simply cannot cross that sea region.”
Stroking his long beard, he spoke: “That sea region is exceedingly treacherous. Even within our Higher Realm of Yundian, an ancestor back then once harbored designs on that sea region, and the final result was that he went and never returned.”
“It is reported that only once every three thousand years do the winds and waves of that sea region grow slightly calm. One imagines that those from the outer realms, even if they possess an immense foundation of their own, must rely on this just to enter and exit. If we wish to go out, I fear it is impossible.”
“Is that so?” Su Tianji looked somewhat disappointed, tagging @Invincible Boss Fang in the Sword and Fairy chat group.
Boss Fang’s face twitched. Who the hell changed this remark name? This really was something one couldn't boast about recklessly. Boss Fang's strength had always been limited; it had taken him ages just to fight two Sword Slaves, and in the end, it even cost him a cigarette to finally resolve it, and now he was out of cigarettes entirely.
Leaving this matter aside for now, the shop was currently in a lively uproar of discussion over this issue. Even Boss Fang had been dragged onto the ship, which immediately drew the attention of all parties.
Most people from the various shops knew each other online but had never met face-to-face. Indeed, for some of them, had they not encountered these people online, they would not even know that a place like Half-City, or the distinctions of the Desolate Sea Region and Lingzhou, existed in this world.
Had it been in the past, in their eyes, perhaps their own small plot of land was the entire picture of the world.
Yet now, they unexpectedly discovered that across the distant ocean, there lay an even more vast continent, and a community of cultivators they had never heard of before. Compared to those worlds in the games that did not necessarily exist, this felt doubly real.
This was truly the discovery of a new continent!
...
Unlike the many players in the shop who were beginning to plot their exit from the internet cafe to embark on a distinctive tour to Lingzhou, the Haotian Academy at this moment had plunged into the greatest crisis in its history.
“What heavy malevolent aura!”
“Look, what is that?!”
At this time, the Haotian Academy elders' lecture had just concluded, and crowds of Haotian Academy disciples were walking out of the Dharma Transmission Hall in twos and threes. Lifting their heads, they beheld black clouds capping the sky above the Haotian Academy, as colossal shadows slowly broke through the cloud layers. The clouds were like mountains, and a black dragon-shaped ramming prow emerged from the rolling vapors, revealing its vanguard.
What was exposed next was a massive vessel hull, seeming neither metal nor wood, entirely pitch-black, upon which refracted glimmers of chased gold. It appeared like a colossal monstrous beast revealing its tracks from within the clouds.
That dharma boat's hull, even just the part exposed from the cloud layer, was at least measured in miles. Its perimeter was adorned with beast bones, and malevolent aura overflowed. Flying and scattering around it were countless dense, hundreds and thousands of black cloud masses.
These vapors were hideous, resembling beasts, resembling fiends and demons, shifting into all manner of distorted forms. Occasionally revealing itself from within was a sharp, piercing gleam of a blade.
Roars of beasts came one after another from the dharma warship, piercing the sky and penetrating the earth, as if a demon god had manifested in the world!
And upon the dharma warship, at this very moment, banquets, songs, dances, fine wine, and beautiful courtesans were all present. Within the cabin at the topmost deck of the warship, the several individuals seated upright were dressed and adorned with extreme opulence, exhausting the heights of mortal nobility.
Yet they, at this moment, bore expressions that were dark and cold.
“What? The Jiang Clan of the Snow Country refused on the grounds of not participating in the affairs of the human race?” Nangong Lin asked aloud as he walked over. “And the two great clans only sent elders?”
“Hmph, these old fellows, after today, let them not regret it!” Only then did he take his seat.
“Palace Master Nangong, what is the meaning of this?!” one of the men spoke in a cold voice.
Sailing a dharma warship over the skies of another power was practically equivalent to a declaration of war!
“It means nothing,” Nangong Lin laughed loudly. “I am merely inviting you all to watch a fine show!”
Behind him stood a tall man clad in a strangely shaped black armor and draped in a cloak. Nangong Lin turned around, showing extreme reverence toward him.
“What do you mean?!”
“Nangong Zhuo?!”
Everyone saw that the person before them was precisely Nangong Zhuo.
Yet his face seemed as if it had undergone an elongation; the corners of his eyes were sharper, his contours highly angular, making his appearance far more bizarre than Nangong Zhuo's original look.
“Qing... Ming.” His voice, however, was deeper than Nangong Zhuo's, and his speech seemed exceedingly rusty, as if he had not spoken for thousands or tens of thousands of years.
It was as though he had entirely turned into a different person.
Nangong Lin laughed loudly: “This brat's physical body being borrowed by the Sacred Ancestor is his immense good fortune!”
“Of course, addressing him like this is perhaps something you are all unfamiliar with, but several thousand years ago, this Sacred Ancestor was precisely the primary array-master of the Immortal-Slaying Sword Array.”
“What is going on?!”
“What?!”
“In that battle, did not this ancestor of yours perish long ago?!”
Everyone looked at each other in terror; the aura radiating from this man's body made even them feel somewhat hair-raised.
This was fundamentally not the aura of a human!
Nangong Lin laughed loudly: “We respectfully request the Sacred Ancestor to strike, and clear away the obstacles for my Wentian Sword Palace!”
“Quick! Open the Mountain-Protecting Grand Array!” Within the Haotian Academy, a crowd of elders watched this terrifying sight, their scalps tingling.
“Is this not the dharma warship of the Wentian Sword Palace?! What do they want to do?!”
“Where... where is the Old Principal?!”
“He went to the internet cafe!”
“Where... where is the Vice Principal?!”
“He was dragged to the internet cafe by the Old Principal to learn how to play StarCraft...”
“...” Elder Yu was practically about to spit blood, hastily pulling out his communication jade and frantically sending transmissions.
“Why is no one replying?!”
At the Yuanyang City branch, one could see a white-haired old man before a command center on the screen, his fingers frantically tapping away at the crystal screen of the command center.
“How long can we hold out?!” Looking at the dense, pale-blue spiritual runes lighting up in the sky, Elder Yu felt slightly set at ease.
“Even if it is the Wentian Sword Palace, without a month they cannot fight their way in!”
Elder Yu nodded: “I have already sent transmissions to all elders and the principals, telling them to rush back with all speed.”
As soon as the words fell, an exclamation broke out: "Look at the sky!"
Within the celestial vault, a hideous and terrifying black sword scar had appeared out of nowhere. The dharma vessel of the Nangong clan had already sailed in through the rift.
Aboard the vessel.
Maids were presenting platters of spiritual fruits, which looked like melons that were jade-green on the outside but fiery red within.
An elder of the Wentian Sword Palace remarked, "This is the Crimson Bodhi, a spiritual fruit that blossoms once every millennium and bears fruit once every millennium. Please, enjoy it to your heart's content."
Then, the scenery outside the dharma vessel began to manifest before their eyes.
The lords of the great clans began to gather around to watch.
