Chapter 551: Boss, a Fairy is Looking for You

Now, the chronicle returns to Boss Fang’s electronic marketplace, known as T-Cat, an enterprise originally forged during the distant era of the Legend.

In its inception, it served merely as a forum for the exchange of virtual oddities.

Yet as the world turned to the present day, the newly erected teleportation arrays tempted enterprising souls to venture into the trade of tangible wares.

Take, for instance, the Wuwei Daoist Alliance.

This alliance could well be called the establishment's most enduring faction in the pursuit and study of magical and technological apparatuses.

By now, their labored research had yielded fruits such as enchantments, firearms, novel communication jades, and spirit-crystal carriages.

Regrettably, though these modern talismans out of the Wuwei Alliance were of the finest craftsmanship and even boasted Boss Fang’s own investment, the cultivators remained strangers to this mode of commerce, leaving the shopfront quite deserted.

……

“Finished at last…” Boss Fang muttered, staring at his screen as he gave a deep, exhausting stretch.

The opening cinematic for the upcoming grand tournament was finally drawn to a close; in truth, he had merely structured the framework and stitched the edits, leaving the system to refine the remnants. Since the system’s creations were invariably masterworks, it was a matter that required none of his fretful attention.

At that moment, Boss Fang decisively ignored Jiang Xiaoyuan’s complaints and retreated upstairs to the sanctuary of a deep slumber.

“Knock, knock, knock!” Just then, a flurry of raps echoed from the door, accompanied by the voice of Li Qin’er. “Boss, a lady of immortal grace seeks you downstairs. She hails from some Seven Saint Mountain, the Cloud-Capped Cave, an immortal lady by the name of Qingyun.”

“What immortal lady? What Cloud-Capped Cave? I have never heard of it… though I might have if it were the Cave of the Silken Web.” Boss Fang let out a heavy yawn. “Your boss is consumed by grave matters! I shall see no immortals today!”

With those words, he collapsed onto the bed and fell instantly into sleep.

“Boss… Bo—” Li Qin’er stood in a state of profound exasperation; how could her master sleep so deeply in the brightness of day when the woman outside possessed an aura so divine, clearly transcending the common flock? To think she had come specifically to pay her respects, yet he claimed to be consumed by grave matters.

Was he not merely playing games day in and day out?

Shaking her head, Li Qin’er could only descend the stairs. Outside the threshold, the lady clad in pristine white, with skin like unblemished snow and the countenance of a celestial being, still waited with eager expectation, her demeanor humble and impeccably polite.

Li Qin’er could do nothing but offer an apologetic grimace. “Our boss… ah… is indeed entangled in affairs from which he cannot break free.”

Her face was flushed with embarrassment.

“It matters not,” the woman replied serenely. “It is widely told that the master of this establishment is a hidden paragon. At this very hour, he must be fraught with worry over the great catastrophe of Lingzhou.”

“Ah…” Li Qin’er felt her embarrassment deepen, knowing her master was merely asleep upstairs. She could only offer, “If you two ladies have no pressing matters, you may access the network and take tea within the shop.”

“Heh heh, two more fair maidens have graced us!” Before Li Qin’er could finish her invitation, the divine sword suspended from the bamboo pole found its voice.

“Young maidens, if you cannot see the boss, looking upon the two of us yields the same virtue. Our swordplay is but a fraction lesser than the boss’s own.”

“Indeed, indeed, we two are also paragons! No, para-swords!”

The other precious blade chimed in, “Do you see those several swords beside us? Once my elder brothers awaken, they shall surely eclipse that paragon boss you speak of.”

“…Master! These two swords can actually speak?! How wondrous!” The young maiden in the green robe stared at the twin blades, her eyes wide with astonishment.

Li Qin’er’s fair face darkened. “Pay no heed to their nonsense. When the boss is present, they dare not utter a single syllable.”

“To think he could tame so many divine blades!” The lady in pristine white marveled. “This is truly the air of a hidden paragon. It seems that fellow Daoist’s mastery of the sword must have reached the absolute pinnacle.”

“It is passable, just a fraction stronger than my divine sword’s Immortal-Slaying Sword Array! Were my eldest brother to take the field, it would be difficult to say who would triumph.”

“The master of this establishment is truly that formidable?!” The young girl in green cried out in surprise. “An Immortal-Slaying Sword Array—can it truly slay immortals?”

“Of course… Mmph—! Why has the sky turned black?! Who dares ambush this divine sword?! Mmph—! Release me!”

Suddenly, two sacks of coarse black hemp descended, enveloping the twin “divine swords” completely and binding their openings tight. Li Wuya then turned his gaze toward the dumbfounded pair. “The boss commanded that if these two blades grew clamorous here…”

“Ah… Qin’er, lead these two guests to find a pair of seats to access the network.”

Li Qin’er hastily led the stunned duo away to their stations.

“Master… why do I always feel there is something peculiar about this shop…” the green-robed maiden whispered.

It felt as though the very style of this place was entirely amiss.

The pair had no grand design, seeking merely to pass the hours; following Li Qin’er’s brief instructions, they tapped idly upon the surface of the desk.

“Still… I just heard that elder sister explain that the talismans in this shop can connect different continents and various realms?! I wonder if such a thing is true!”

“Ma… Master?”

At that moment, she beheld her master clicking upon a strange icon resembling the visage of a cat.

The method of operation was exactly what Li Qin’er had just imparted. “Could it be that Master already knows how to use it?”

“This is our establishment’s ‘T-Cat Trading Website’,” Li Qin’er explained from behind them. “Aside from virtual items, it contains many modern artifacts modeled after the talismans within our shop.”

Soon enough, Immortal Lady Qingyun scrolled to an artifact shaped like a white jade plaque, bearing the emblem of an apple with a single bite taken out of it.

“What manner of thing is this?” Immortal Lady Qingyun inquired, perplexed.

“This is a modern communication jade talisman. This particular model is the latest fashion, the i-Fone 6.”

“What a peculiar name…” The green-robed maiden knitted her brows.

“The name was bestowed by the boss,” Li Qin’er clarified.

He was, after all, a shareholder.

“This communication jade… can not only send missives, but can also transmit moving images, and even utilize this… Penguin Chat?!” Before her words could finish, Immortal Lady Qingyun had already clicked the option to purchase, nearly exhausting the eight hundred spirit crystals of her newly registered membership card.

“And what is this…?” She quickly scrolled to an artifact fashioned in the likeness of a magnificent, luxurious carriage.

She observed a video clip displaying beside the carriage on the screen, depicting it drifting wildly through a grand city.

“This is called the Spirit…”

“Dharma Carriage!” It had originally been called a hearse, but Boss Fang had stubbornly altered the name.

“Yu’er, go and replenish another five thousand spirit crystals for your master… I did not expect that after my long absence from the mortal realm, such an exquisitely crafted means of travel would appear… Alas, we have labored in the mountains for too long; if we continue thus, we shall fall behind the times, and we must not let our fellow Daoists make a jest of us.”

Next, her gaze fell upon the succeeding item, a pair of large, black-framed sunglasses.

“What is this?”

“Sunglasses, the most popular style of the current year.”

“An LV enchanted storage bag?”

“Magical lipstick…?”

“Metropolitan-style noble fur coat?”

……

“Yawn—!” Boss Fang let out a great sigh, having finally completed his restorative slumber as he descended from the upper floor. “Little Qin’er, who did you say was looking for me? Are they still here?”

"Right there, on the sofa in the lounge area!"

"Is that so?" Boss Fang focused his gaze and saw a young woman sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone. She was flanked by an assortment of shopping bags, an LV purse slung over her arm, and a pair of oversized dark sunglasses masking her face.

The prominent logo of a bitten apple gleamed from the back of her phone.

Outside, a Maserati was parked.

Boss Fang: "!!??"

Wasn't she supposed to be some kind of celestial fairy?!
