Chapter 137: Five Realms of Buddhism

Chapter 137: The Five Realms of Buddhism

"The God of Double Happiness?" This was the first time Li Huowang had ever heard the term.

"Is there any connection between the God of Single Happiness and the God of Double Happiness?"

"How should I put it? If you must draw a comparison, the God of Happiness would be nothing more than a mere fingernail clipping of the God of Double Happiness."

"Hiss..." Li Huowang's mind conjured the terrifying visage of the God of Happiness from the past; he could hardly fathom that such a formidable entity would be deemed fit to serve as but a fingernail in the presence of some greater being.

"Wait, Abbess, please wait a moment, my mind is a bit muddled right now."

The sudden influx of information caught him off guard. "So the God of Happiness isn't just a larger-scale evil fiend?"

"How could that be? The God of Happiness could never be an evil fiend; they are entirely different matters."

Li Huowang took a deep breath and continued to ask, "Then, Abbess, whether it is the God of Happiness or the God of Double Happiness, what exactly are they?"

"What else could they be? They are gods, of course."

"Uh... gods of where?"

The Abbess's plump face was filled with astonishment. "You don't even know this? Then how have you survived until now? I thought you already knew."

Li Huowang continued to explain helplessly, "I have already told you, I am not from this world. I truly transmigrated here, even though I cannot remember exactly how I got here."

"Sigh... here we go again." Abbess Jingxin looked at Li Huowang with a face full of pity.

"Abbess, I really did transmigrate here!" Seeing that she did not believe him, Li Huowang's voice inevitably grew louder, and a sense of restlessness welled up within him.

"Alright, alright, I believe you. Let's move on to the next part. The Five Realms of Buddhism, have you heard of them?"

"The Five Realms of Buddhism?" Li Huowang recalled the temple within Zhengde Monastery that housed the five great Buddha statues.

"I have heard a little about it. I once heard the abbot of Zhengde Monastery mention that in five different worlds, there are five different Buddhas."

"The Central Vajra Realm, the Eastern Xiangji Realm, the Southern Huanxi Realm, the Western Ultimate Bliss Realm, and the Northern Lotus Realm." Abbess Jingxin repeated the words the old monk had spoken back then.

"The God of Happiness and the God of Double Happiness are the wandering gods of the Southern Huanxi Realm. Of course, there are not only them there; there are even more Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats."

Li Huowang's mind was somewhat chaotic; these were concepts he was hearing for the very first time.

He knew that there were bizarre things existing in this world, but he truly had never imagined this.

Above this world, there actually existed five entirely different realms.

And within these five different realms, there existed even more terrifying entities.

"So, the Immortal Realm you mentioned earlier, is it these five realms?" he subconsciously asked Danyang Zi, who was on the wall.

"Hmph!! What kind of bullshit are the Five Realms of Buddhism? What do a bunch of blindly faithful bald donkeys know!"

Danyang Zi's six eyes were filled with disdain; this was the first time Danyang Zi's hallucination had reacted.

"These people don't understand a damn thing; they believe whatever is written in the books! They haven't even seen the Southern Heavenly Gate, what the hell do they know!!"

Ignoring Danyang Zi's curses, Li Huowang continued to ask the Abbess, "Could you tell me, where exactly are these so-called Five Realms of Buddhism?"

"If I knew, I would have already become a Buddha; would I still be staying here?"

The Abbess, in a fit of boredom, picked her nose, extracting a long string of filth and wiping it upon her rolls of fat.

"Become a Buddha? Does the Abbess wish to become that kind of Buddha?"

"I can't be bothered to become one. My son may be mad, but he is still alive. If I truly became a Buddha, what would happen to him?"

Upon learning this news, Li Huowang seemed to connect all his previous experiences, as if grasping something in the mysterious depths of fate.

"Then which realm is the world where Ba Hui resides?"

He recalled the bizarre place in the background when Ba Hui had previously manifested in the world.

"I don't know, I am not of the Zoroastrian sect."

"Swish~!" Danyang Zi's three terrifying heads suddenly burst out from the Abbess's belly.

"She's lying to you! She doesn't understand a damn thing!! Only when you truly see the Immortal Realm will you understand just how magnificent it is!"

"As long as you take a single glance at the Immortal Realm, you will feel that the mortal world is nothing at all!!"

Li Huowang looked at him, the corners of his mouth twitching, and continued to ask Abbess Jingxin, "Abbess, regarding these so-called Five Realms of Buddhism, do other sects have different interpretations?"

"Of course. Some cultivators say there are no five realms at all, it's just one single place, and they call it Penglai. Others say there is no such place at all, it's all made up."

"Anyway, no one can convince anyone else, and I'm too lazy to argue with them."

As Abbess Jingxin spoke, she could not help but pull a mung bean cake from her rolls of fat. Just as she was about to stuff it into her mouth, she forced herself to stop and stuffed it back in.

"Alright, alright, these are things beyond the mortal realm. I'm just saying it, and you're just listening. Whether it's true or false, it doesn't really matter to you right now."

"There's nothing else. Hurry up and leave, it's already the Wei hour. You've kept me from getting any sleep."

"Remember, stay away from the Zuowang Daoists. If you really run into them and want to break their tricks, you need to figure out their way of thinking first, and then do the exact opposite."

After giving this final piece of advice, Abbess Jingxin threw her head back and started snoring deafeningly.

With a complex expression, Li Huowang performed a Qingfeng Guan Daoist salute to the Abbess once more, picked up his sword, and turned to leave.

This trip had yielded far too much; Li Huowang needed to sort it all out properly now.

Yang Xiaohai squatted upon a stone, watching Xiaoman practice her sword in the courtyard with envy.

With a crisp clang accompanying the soft ring, Chun Xiaoman drew her cyan sword halfway from its scabbard.

The blade reflected a cold, icy gleam. A mist-like, ethereal, and invisible pressure instantly caused him to scoot backward a little further.

Her sword dance was like a swimming dragon, with continuous flashes of silver light and sleeves fluttering in the wind.

Yang Xiaohai couldn't understand the intricacies, but he could feel that Senior Sister Xiaoman before him was truly formidable.

This was only natural; for so many days, whenever she had free time, she practiced her sword, practicing in the morning and in the evening, even hugging the sword manual while eating.

"If I were that strong, no one would dare to bully me in the future," Yang Xiaohai said, his eyes filled with yearning.

"Hmph, what's that? Practicing this is useless. If you really want to become strong, you still need to learn from Senior Brother Li."

Yang Xiaohai turned his head and saw Gouwa leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.

Thinking of Senior Brother Li's creepy appearance, he instantly felt a chill at the back of his neck, and his head shook like a rattle drum.

"No, I don't want to learn that kind of divine power, it hurts too much."

Just then, Yang Xiaohai saw Xiaoman, who had been practicing her sword, stop and walk outside.

"Senior Sister Xiaoman, where are you going?" he quickly followed her.

"I'm going to check out the escort agency in town. I've been practicing blindly for so long, I want to find someone to spar with."

"Xiaoman, you need to find an outsider to spar? Just spar with me, why go through all that trouble? I've practiced too," Gouwa said, slapping the knife at his waist until it rang loudly.

"You call that practicing? Just practicing one slashing move and you call it practicing?"
