Chapter 385: Sorry
Chapter 385: I am Sorry
"What is wrong with this guy? How did he jump from such a high floor? Should we call an ambulance?"
"Guard! Someone is hurt here!"
"Hey! I know him, he has been on television! I heard he is a great hero who rid the people of a menace."
"Look, his hand is injured, how pitiful."
The murmurs of the other patients around him could not disturb Li Huowang in the slightest; he withdrew his gaze from the cell before him, raised his head, and searched the surroundings for something.
"Though I have emerged from its belly, I am still in the water, and if I do not hurry back to the ship, I fear I shall drown!"
Li Huowang searched incessantly, until his gaze suddenly fixed upon a distant steel watchtower.
That appeared to be the perimeter of this White Tower Prison, where a soldier holding a firearm was craning his neck, peering toward this direction in bewilderment.
The watchtower was exceedingly high, noticeably towering over the surrounding structures, making it the highest vantage point nearby.
"There can be no mistake, that is the ship I was sitting on before!" Li Huowang swiftly raised both hands, moving them through the air as if swimming, thrashing forward toward that steel watchtower.
Li Huowang felt a burning agony throughout his entire body, his arms could scarcely be raised, and his frame felt on the verge of shattering.
He understood that he must have been severely wounded inside the belly of that monster, though he knew not whether it was from the tearing of teeth or the corrosion of gastric juices.
Yet he could not simply give up; Li Huowang swam with every ounce of strength remaining in his body, muttering under his breath, "Li Sui, quick, help your father, help me swim a little faster, I cannot see the situation over there right now, I am relying entirely on you for whatever happens!"
The moment he finished speaking, Li Huowang felt as though a sudden surge of strength truly welled up from his heart to aid him. "My thanks, Li Sui!"
It was precisely at this moment that a large throng of prison guards happened to emerge from the prison gates, wielding large nets, iron forks, and other riot gear, anxiously giving chase to Li Huowang.
Within the oval exercise yard used for recreation inside this White Tower Prison area, one man fled in front while a crowd pursued behind; Li Huowang's movements were not as swift as theirs, and the distance between both sides was rapidly closing.
At last he reached the edge of the yard, where a dense wall of wire mesh stood between Li Huowang and the watchtower, and without a moment's hesitation, Li Huowang dug his fingers into the gaps and began to scale the wall.
Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, the soldier atop the watchtower quickly raised his rifle, closing one eye as he prepared to take aim.
"Do not fire! Whatever you do, do not fire!" a panicked voice cried out from the pursuing crowd. "This man currently has a very high level of public attention! If he dies in our prison area, the trouble will be immense!"
Even as the words were spoken, Li Huowang had already climbed to the highest point, where a coil of razor wire bristling with countless sharp thorns presented itself before him.
The instant Li Huowang extended his hand to grasp the razor wire and pull himself over, a blue electric arc shot out from the contact, for this object was evidently charged with high-voltage electricity.
Witnessing this scene, the various forks and nets that had just been thrust upward from below were hastily retracted, for fear of being electrocuted.
"If you think this mere bit of pain can stop me! It is not enough!!" With a twisted, ferocious expression, Li Huowang gripped the razor wire directly, exerting a sudden surge of power with a single arm to heave his entire body over the coil; his skin began to char black, and his patient uniform began to smoke.
"Shut off the power! Quick, shut off the power!"
Seeing that Li Huowang's body was on the verge of spontaneously combusting, everyone stood below in stunned silence, watching that figure shrouded in white smoke who was somehow still capable of movement. "Good heavens, is this even a human being?"
Summoning his absolute last reserve of strength, Li Huowang leapt forward, landing upon the iron steps at the corner of the adjacent watchtower.
"Ha..... Ha...." Li Huowang panted heavily, his entire body already numb, his consciousness beginning to drift into a heavy daze.
At this moment he was truly exhausted beyond measure, as though the final thread of strength within his body had been utterly squeezed dry, yet with the ship so close at hand, he absolutely could not let everything fail at the final hurdle.
Taking a deep breath, Li Huowang stood up abruptly, using that hand which had been cut to a bloody pulp by the razor wire to support himself against the railing, swaying as he dragged his steps toward the watchtower.
Seeing this terrifying madman actually crawling up the steps, the two soldiers on duty found themselves unsure of whether to raise their rifles or not.
In the end, they simply slung the weapons across their backs and directly assumed the starting stance of military martial arts.
However, they were profoundly astonished to find that upon reaching the watchtower, the madman before them merely stood there motionless, showing no intention of attacking them.
Li Huowang naturally had no need to move, because he understood that he had finally returned to the deck, and that he was temporarily out of danger.
Catching his breath, Li Huowang forced himself to maintain focus, speaking to the two men before him: "Captain, do not..... do not stop, keep sailing toward Apricot Island."
"Thud, thud, thud." Hearing the distinct clatter of various shoes striking the iron staircase, the groggy Li Huowang instantly felt a sharp alarm ring out within his heart.
Pressing himself against the wall, he retreated swiftly, forming an angle between those rushing in and the two men before him.
Staring at the gleaming silver forks in their hands, Li Huowang shrieked hysterically, "Water monkeys, is it? Don't you dare think of dragging me back into the water!!"
Seeing them on the verge of pouncing forward, Li Huowang decisively raised his right hand, gouging toward his own left eye.
"Huowang!" That sound, sounding almost like a mournful wail, caused Li Huowang's hand to freeze; he looked in bewilderment toward the water monkeys before him, as a streak of white stepped out from among them.
It was Yang Na; looking entirely haggard, she stood there, presenting a sight so painful to the heart. "Huowang, you are lucid, aren't you? Do you recognize me now?"
Li Huowang instinctively lowered his head, averting his gaze from Yang Na's stare, and in his dazed state he suddenly raised his hands, his mouth opening wider and wider—"I am the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong! Today I shall trample the Hall of Miraculous Mist and wreak havoc upon the Heavenly Palace!!"
Li Huowang laughed uproariously through his tears, dancing and gesticulating before everyone like a genuine madman.
Watching Li Huowang behave in this manner, Yang Na's heart throbbed with a pain as sharp as a knife's plunge, and she cried out in a near collapse: "Huowang! What exactly do you want me to do! I truly cannot forget you!!"
Hearing these words, Li Huowang gradually went still; after the expression on his face shifted slightly, he stumbled forward and raised his right hand toward her, and within that bloody pulp of a hand was held a single, tiny white wildflower no larger than a fingernail.
Taking advantage of the instant Li Huowang was distracted, a red fire extinguisher swung violently down upon Li Huowang's forearm, snapping it completely into a ninety-degree angle.
As a colossal force slammed into him from behind, the two soldiers rushed forward, pinning Li Huowang ruthlessly to the ground, while the others, terrified that this violent lunatic might rise up to harm someone, rushed over to help; more and more people piled onto his body, nearly burying him entirely.
Li Huowang's gaze pierced through the shifting crowd, looking toward that helpless, despairing Yang Na, and his mouth softly uttered a single phrase: "Nana.... I am sorry for before...."
