Chapter 507: Impossible
Chapter 507: Impossible
Staring at the yellow-robed Taoist rushing towards him, Gouwa felt his soul nearly leap out of his skin from sheer terror.
Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that this man would react so violently upon seeing the item Senior Brother Li had given him.
Seeing the Taoist closing the distance, copper coin sword in hand, Gouwa gripped the decayed wooden ruyi with both hands and, with a panicked shriek, flung it forward with all his might.
Yet, since the Taoist had designs on Gouwa's possession, how could he possibly be unprepared for it.
A small yellow paper figure, cut from a talisman, suddenly flew out from his sleeve, interposing itself before the Taoist.
As the decayed wooden ruyi in Gouwa's hands swung down, the paper figurine instantly went limp, fluttering crumpled and swaying toward the ground.
Though it only managed to block for a single instant, the yellow-robed Taoist had already achieved his purpose; before Gouwa could swing a second time, the copper coin sword in his hand had already slashed down toward the two of them.
"Ju lun tuo chan ti wu she!!" On the copper coin sword, the red thread binding the coins together rapidly elongated, and the ancient coins formed a long whip, carrying afterimages as it lashed viciously across the back of Gouwa's hand holding the ruyi.
With a forceful yank from the Taoist, the flesh on the back of Gouwa's hand ripped apart instantly, and the decayed wooden ruyi, along with one of Gouwa's fingers, flew off toward a nearby rockery.
"Ahhh!!" Screaming in agony, Gouwa clutched his nearly severed hand, completely at a loss in his utter despair.
"Hmph, turns out they are just two fledglings." With a wicked smirk on his face, the yellow-robed Taoist narrowed his eyes, and with a flick of his wrist, the blood-stained string of copper coins flew back once more.
And this time, the target was not Gouwa's hand, but his yellow-and-white head!
"I'm going to die! If I die!" Watching the approaching copper coins, this was the solitary thought in Gouwa's mind at this precise moment.
At this critical juncture, a hand reached out from the side, firmly grasping the copper coin sword.
Although the sharp coins cut into this hand, they merely sliced through the skin.
"Oh?" The yellow-robed Taoist expressed a hint of surprise, staring at the young man before him who was taking sharp breaths from the pain.
One must know that his Seven Star Sword could slay demons and banish evil; for someone to catch it barehanded meant this lad likely possessed some skill.
With a sharp whoosh, the copper coins in Scholar Lyu's hand instantly retracted, reassembling into a sword within the yellow-robed Taoist's grasp. "Boy, which sect do you hail from?"
When traveling abroad, it was always best to ask clearly before fighting; he feared that striking the young would bring out the old, and if it was just for a Xinsu tongue, it simply wasn't worth the trouble.
"I'm telling you! My master is Li Huowang! If you... if you dare touch us! You're a dead man!" Scholar Lyu threatened, forcing a display of composure.
Clearly, after mastering his divine possession technique, he was supposed to be invulnerable to blades and spears, yet he had been cut to the point of bleeding; Scholar Lyu now only hoped to use his master's reputation to scare the opponent away.
"Li Huowang? Never heard of him, and this boy only named his master without naming a sect. It seems this lad and his master are just rogue cultivators."
Seeing the Taoist standing there lost in thought, Gouwa understood that the man certainly did not fear Li Huowang.
Breathing heavily, Gouwa cradled his bleeding, truncated hand and hurriedly took a few quick steps, shielding the other boy as he leveled a different threat at the Taoist. "We are of the White Lotus Sect! Don't mess with us! There are many people in our White Lotus Sect!"
An expression of sudden realization dawned on the yellow-robed Taoist's face, "Oh~ the White Lotus Sect, then that makes things easy." The next moment, he decisively swung the copper coin sword in his hand once again.
In all the world, who didn't know that the White Lotus Sect had the weakest backing and was the easiest to bully, hiding and running all day long like a pack of rats, terrified that the Bureau of Heavenly Inspection would catch their scent if they made too much noise.
"Can you fucking shut your mouth!" Grabbing the swinging copper coins with both hands, Scholar Lyu screamed in a breakdown.
Witnessing this scene, Gouwa turned decisively, rushing toward the front courtyard without once looking back.
"I fuck your mother!! Gouwa! May your sons be born without an anus!!" Amidst Scholar Lyu's furious curses, Gouwa vanished into thin air like a streak of smoke.
"Hahaha! Don't you White Lotus Sect people always say that all who join are brothers? What's this? Is this your White Lotus Sect brotherhood?"
The Taoist mocked while increasing the force of his pressure against Scholar Lyu.
Although Scholar Lyu had learned divine possession, his skin was at most a bit thicker; facing the Taoist, he could only take a passive beating, utterly devoid of any ability to counterattack. Before long, he was beaten black and blue, curling into a ball to protect his head.
Looking down at the youth on the ground, the Taoist smiled coldly, flipping his left hand to reveal an ink marker.
"That's enough, it's time to end this." As he pressed the ink wheel with his finger and held the marker upright, the thick black ink slowly flowed down, dyeing the entire copper coin sword black like pitch.
Seeing this scene, Scholar Lyu grew terrified, but escaping at this point was utterly out of the question; he immediately knelt on the ground in tears, kowtowing to the Taoist for mercy.
Just as the Taoist raised the long sword, preparing to hack down at Scholar Lyu, a cold gleam shot out from the darkness, a concealed iron needle wrapped in white thread flying directly at the Taoist's face.
Just as the white-furred needle was about to pierce the Taoist's face, his neck suddenly bulged, and a bearded, wrinkled infant's head thrust out from beneath his clothes; opening a mouth full of rotten teeth, it snapped the long needle right between its jaws.
"Hmph!! You actually dare to conspire a sneak attack on this Taoist Master!" The yellow-robed face gradually flushed red, veins bulging violently at his temples.
It was plain to see that compared to his previous nonchalance, he was truly enraged now.
As the Taoist pointed his hand in the direction from which the needle had been shot, the black overcoat on the ground floated up on its own, giving chase toward that direction.
Immediately afterward, he lowered his eyes, glaring at the trembling Scholar Lyu, and raised the copper coin sword drenched in thick black ink, chopping down toward his head without the slightest hesitation; he intended to finish this one off first before dealing with the second.
"Ahhh!! Silt originates from the dawn of chaos, the White Lotus appears to lift the prosperous age! Unborn Venerable Mother, save my life!!" Under this fatal crisis, Scholar Lyu prayed to the Unborn Venerable Mother of the White Lotus Sect with a reverence he had never possessed before.
Just as the black-inked copper coin sword sliced through Scholar Lyu's clothing and struck his flesh, accompanied by a flash of white light, the red thread on the copper coin sword snapped inch by inch, and the entire sword exploded instantly, scattering loose copper coins and black ink in all directions.
The incensed Taoist was stunned by this sight, retreating three steps in succession with terror in his eyes. "This... this is impossible! The Unborn Venerable Mother died long ago!!"
And when Scholar Lyu realized he wasn't dead and straightened his body in astonishment, a piece of canvas slipped from his bosom to the ground due to his torn clothes.
Depicted on the canvas was a simple white lotus flower; the moment he saw this lotus, the Taoist retreated hurriedly once more.
"This is impossible! The Unborn Venerable Mother died long ago! You White Lotus heretics are nothing more than a bunch of abandoned pawns!"
Yet no matter how much the Taoist claimed disbelief with his mouth, his body was remarkably honest; by the time he finished speaking, he was already standing right against the wall.
