Chapter 634: Dharma Sect
Chapter 634: The Sect of Law
A sharp tearing sound echoed through the air as Li Huowang’s opponent was instantly bisected by the purple-sheathed sword, its blade as sharp as a blade cutting through iron.
Yet before Li Huowang could even catch his breath, people from the village entrance poured in like a tide—unafraid, relentless, charging straight at him.
They had just been ordinary flesh and blood, yet now they were transformed into creatures fearless of death.
Beside him, the bearded man from the Sky-Watching Bureau wielded his crescent-shaped spade with fury, hacking and slashing through the crowd as he roared.
As Li Sui controlled the copper coin sword to split open another follower's skull, Li Huowang’s gaze shifted toward the horizon.
He had dealt with the Sect of Law before, and knew that engaging these foot soldiers would only waste time. If he didn’t eliminate their leader, these people wouldn’t stop until they were all dead. There must be someone leading them!
With six tentacles pushing off the ground, Li Huowang leapt high into the sky, surveying the entire village below. His one eye split into two pupils—one on each side—darting swiftly around, searching for something.
After several leaps, his dual pupils met again. A faintly visible “witch” character appeared on the mountain behind the village. “So that’s why I couldn’t find them! They weren’t hiding inside the village at all!”
Peng Longteng’s towering figure suddenly appeared beside Li Huowang, grabbing him by both arms and flinging him forward. Li Huowang’s tool bag whipped loudly in the wind, and he crashed headfirst toward the growing “witch” symbol.
Just as he neared it, a flash of cold light pierced through the symbol, streaking through the air with blinding speed and embedding itself deep within his body.
When Li Huowang landed, the cold light had already burst out of him, leaving a bloodied hole the size of his wrist in his abdomen.
“Sui Sui! Are you alright?” Li Huowang shouted while scanning his surroundings, urgently asking his son inside.
“I’m fine, Dad. I dodged it just in time.”
Li Huowang frowned, staring at the bushes and trees around him. Aside from the earlier ambush, there had been no further movement. It was unexpected.
It seemed the Sect of Law wasn’t entirely reckless. Seeing he was not to be trifled with, they had gone into hiding.
“You think hiding makes me unable to find you?” Li Huowang immediately instructed Li Sui to pull out a bone, then took out a piece of yellow paper, performing divination with practiced ease.
After carefully examining the cracks on the bone, Li Huowang began searching the area.
Time passed, but nothing came of it. Just when Li Huowang thought his divination had failed, he stopped beside a cliff face.
He studied the direction of the vines clinging to the rock, gripped the hilt of his purple-sheathed sword, and struck hard.
The blade, sharp as steel, cleaved the cliff in two, revealing a dark cave.
“Inside the mountain? So they’ve been hiding in the mountains all along. Something to do with stone… Could this be the technique of the Great Qi Sect of Law?”
Before he could expand the cave entrance, a flying stone shot out, aimed straight for his forehead.
By the time Li Sui’s tentacles caught it, Li Huowang had already drawn his sword and rushed into the cave.
In the darkness, countless hidden weapons rained down upon him. “Bang!” Peng Longteng’s massive form crashed into Li Huowang’s front, acting as a shield, pushing forward relentlessly.
Using Peng Longteng’s cover, Li Huowang pressed deeper into the cave, reaching its end. It was too dark to see anything clearly—he could only sense shadowy figures moving in the gloom.
“Kill!!” Li Huowang roared, charging fearlessly into the darkness, slicing through the Sect of Law followers like a storm sweeping across a field.
No longer the same Li Huowang he once was, he now fought like Zhao Yun, penetrating and re-emerging seven times over.
His single eye glowed with a fierce aura, filled with killing intent. These sect members had to be eliminated—otherwise, they’d spread like plague.
Just as he tore off a dwarf’s head, the cave suddenly lit up. His eye narrowed, seeing only blinding white light.
When he rubbed his eyes and blinked, a tremendous force struck from his left, sending him flying.
He crashed into the wall, then onto the ground. With a gape, he spat out long, slim tentacles wrapped in internal organs.
Swallowing them down, Li Huowang knelt on one knee, stood up, and looked at what had attacked him.
“That’s... Xun Nian?”
Li Huowang stared in shock at the enormous four-legged beast before him.
This was the very Xun Nian he had fought alongside the Great Qi against the dragon vein. Some of its wounds remained.
The only difference was that it had no head—the woman’s head was missing, leaving only the beast’s body.
A woman bearing the witch mark sat atop Xun Nian’s back like a rider, staring intently at Li Huowang, as if waiting for something. She did not pursue.
“Dad, your hair is turning white,” Li Sui suddenly said. Li Huowang looked at his palm, where wrinkles were rapidly forming.
“No good! I was hit by Xun Nian!” Li Huowang immediately pulled out his gourd and poured some longevity pills into his mouth.
After swallowing dozens, he saw the wrinkles on his hand vanish quickly, and finally exhaled in relief.
Thankfully, being a Heart-Soul cultivator meant he wasn’t restricted in consuming longevity pills. Otherwise, that attack might have ended him.
But looking at the approaching Xun Nian, Li Huowang knew things wouldn’t go smoothly this time.
He had fought Xun Nian once before, even though it was part of Zhuge Yuan’s scheme, it was undeniable that the creature possessed an eerie ability to steal age.
Li Huowang never expected that Zhuge Yuan’s friend would be captured and controlled by the Sect of Law.
With caution, Li Huowang quickly scanned his surroundings. He was inside a mountain cave, with stalactites resembling teeth hanging from the ceiling. The floor was uneven, sloping to the left.
What puzzled him most was that he had killed many in the dark, yet now, aside from knife marks on the ground, there was no blood anywhere.
But soon, he saw shadowy figures emerging from the distance.
The darkness ahead was strange—it was impossible to see through, no matter how good his vision was.
Suddenly, the cave, which had just lit up, began to darken inch by inch. The distant Xun Nian, along with the shadows, advanced toward him.
The empty cave suddenly filled with people, attacking from every angle.
