Chapter 863: Meet (Repay Yesterday's)

Chapter 863: Meeting (The One from Yesterday)

Li Huowang continued walking forward, and with each step he took away from the prison, Yi Donglai’s voice grew fainter and fainter.

Only after passing through the second gate, when he could no longer hear Yi Donglai's voice at all, did Li Huowang finally let out a breath he had been holding—safe now.

He quickly changed into civilian clothes and walked out through the main gate. A black sedan was already waiting nearby.

He cast one last glance at the gray-white prison tower behind him before heading toward the car.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw Ba Nancu sitting there with his legs crossed, not even lifting his head to look up from his phone. The driver was his younger brother.

"Get in."

By this point, there was nothing left for Li Huowang to hesitate about. He bent down and sat in the car without delay.

His first act was to tear off everything covering his face—apparently it had been glued on, causing his skin to sting painfully.

"Are Zhao Shuangdian's connections broader than Qingwanglai's? How easily you got me out of here."

"Heh, if we were planning to break into the prison and rescue inmates, that would be difficult indeed. But to break into a psychiatric ward? That wouldn’t be hard at all. After all, they never expected someone to go to such lengths for a mentally ill person."

Li Huowang looked up at the driver, Ba Shengqing, and asked, "Do you know where Qingwanglai and Yang Na are? Find them—fast!"

His legs began to tremble involuntarily, and his emotions started to rise. “Do you have a knife? I need a weapon!”

Ba Nancu turned slightly, raising her leg covered in thorn-like tattoos and pressing it against Li Huowang’s trembling knees. “Why so anxious? We’ll deal with things once we get there. Things might not be as bad as you think.”

"When we arrive, keep your temper under control. We’re pulling you in, but we don’t want you to make enemies with Qingwanglai. In fact, we're on good terms with Qingzi—we just can't let things get too ugly on the surface."

But none of this reached Li Huowang’s ears. He had completely fallen into his own world.

He didn’t know how long had passed—it felt like every second dragged on endlessly.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, hearing the screech of brakes, Li Huowang burst open the door like a leopard and sprinted out.

This was a villa complex nestled among trees, known for its privacy and luxury.

An elegant European-style mansion came into view. Qingwanglai’s territory clearly stood apart from others—high ceilings, grand entrance, round arch windows, stone corners, white plaster walls with black-tiled roofs, all exuding opulence.

Quickly scanning the courtyard, Li Huowang leaped into the pool, pulled out a palm-sized stone, and rushed toward the mansion’s front door.

*Bang!* With one kick, he shattered the door wide open, startling Chen Hongyu who was eating snacks while watching a movie projection in the living room.

"You’re trying to kill yourself? Can’t you be quieter?"

Li Huowang rushed toward her like wind, his voice shaking as he shouted, "Where is Qingwanglai? Where is he?!"

"He’s upstairs. He stayed up all night with Zhao Lei yesterday—he’s probably sleeping now."

Upon hearing that, Li Huowang immediately ran toward the stairs. When he arrived at the third floor with the stone in hand, Qingwanglai had already emerged from his room.

With such a loud disturbance, it was impossible not to notice.

Seeing Li Huowang charging toward him with a stone raised, Qingwanglai looked surprised and asked, "What’s going on? Don’t get excited. What happened to your eyes? Are you okay?"

But compared to the tone full of concern, his actions were far from matching. His gun barrel, dark and menacing, was already pointed at Li Huowang’s head, forcing him to stop.

"Where is Yang Na?! Where is she?! If you dare lay a finger on her, I won’t let you live!"

Qingwanglai’s voice remained calm. "First, let me clarify something—Miss Yang came here herself. I don’t know where you got your information, but I never intended to kidnap her. She can leave anytime she wants."

"But she didn’t leave because she thought you’d be here. She’s been waiting for you."

"Now I can answer your question—she’s in the third door to your left behind. Over these past few days, Wu Qi has been with her. Although psychiatry isn’t her specialty, she is still a medical professional."

Li Huowang glared fiercely at him, then slowly backed toward the third door on the left.

*Tap tap tap.* Li Huowang knocked loudly on the door. It was Wu Qi, her face covered in a mask, who answered. "Who is it? You’re making noise again."

"Oh, Li Huowang? You’re free? We were thinking of rescuing you. What happened to your eyes?"

Li Huowang quickly pushed past her and rushed inside. In the corner of the wall, he saw Yang Na curled up, clutching her head.

"Nana, Nana," Li Huowang walked over and held her close.

Smelling her familiar scent, Yang Na slowly lifted her head, looking up at Li Huowang’s face.

Her appearance was utterly worn out. She reached out and touched the empty sockets of his eyes, tears welling in her own. "Huowang, what happened to your eyes? Where did they go? Was it because of me? Did I cause this to you?"

"No, no, it wasn’t because of you. It’s all my fault. It’s entirely mine. There’s nothing to do with you. Please don’t blame yourself."

Li Huowang repeated this over and over, trying to ease her guilt. That was exactly what she feared most right now.

After comforting her for a while, Yang Na smiled gently and leaned closer. Their faces pressed softly together.

"Huowang, I believe you! I believe everything you say. No matter what you tell me next, I will believe it. And I heard their voices too. Yes, just like you, I am also a Fate Keeper. You are the Calamity Season, and I am the Mother of Eternal Life."

Li Huowang’s face trembled uncontrollably—he wanted to cry, yet he also wanted to laugh.

Whether all of this was real or not, he only wanted to bear it alone. He didn’t want anyone else to suffer the same torment.

*Clap clap clap!* Applause erupted. The clapping came from Qingwanglai, smiling warmly.

"Well done, excellent work. Let’s give a round of applause for our newest comrade!"

"Shit!" Li Huowang lunged forward and punched him straight in the face, sending him flying backward.

Seeing Qingwanglai lying on the ground, Li Huowang was about to charge at him when others stopped him.

"Come on, Li Huowang, don’t do this."

"It’s not worth it. We’re all on the same side."

"Hey, what’s going on? Pull them apart!"

Under their tugging, Li Huowang finally refrained from attacking Qingwanglai again.

He shoved them aside and went to Yang Na’s side, gently lifting her into his arms.

"Where are you taking her?"

"To take her home! She’s sick. She has mental illness. She needs rest. She needs to stay away... from the triggers..."
