Chapter 572: The Great War Concludes

Chapter 572: The Great Battle Ends

Li Wei fled from the Jade Prince at the fastest speed possible.

The Jade Prince, seeing several magical crystals glowing before him, sensed an immense danger approaching.

Instinctively raising his divine sword, he was about to shatter them.

Before he could strike, the power within the magic crystals erupted.

Boom!

A look of horror appeared in the Jade Prince's eyes.

His vision was instantly overwhelmed by blinding light.

In that moment, it seemed as if he witnessed the birth of the sun and the explosion of a supernova.

Li Wei escaped with the legendary lich to a distant place.

Looking back, the sky behind him was unbearably bright.

The radiance of the explosion illuminated the entire ancient battlefield.

Far away, a thousand miles distant, the Wind Chaser halted in his tracks, narrowing his eyes toward the distant flash of light.

Seconds later, a fierce gale swept over, making it difficult for him to maintain his stance.

Li Wei landed on the ground, casting a defensive magical barrier to withstand the terrifying shockwave.

The earth cracked open from the blast, and the entire land trembled.

No one knew how long passed before everything finally settled down.

Li Wei slowly ascended into the sky, seeing that the dark clouds which had covered the ancient battlefield for years had vanished.

The entire night sky was now visible.

The shockwave of the explosion had torn apart all the cloud cover.

Gazing toward the center of the explosion—

Only a massive, deep crater remained.

The plains had been transformed into a vast basin.

This earth-shattering power terrified even Li Wei himself.

The legendary lich regained mobility, staring at the distant battlefield with shock evident in his eyes.

He looked at Li Wei with disbelief.

"Did you do this?" the lich couldn't help but ask.

Li Wei nodded and said, "Just a small trick."

The lich's mind reeled.

It felt utterly absurd.

He had once been a legendary mage, later reborn as a lich.

No one understood better than him just how terrifying the power of a legendary mage could be.

But the force before him far exceeded the realm of legendary mages, didn't it?

Even demi-gods might not possess such terrifying strength.

As if sensing the lich's confusion,

Li Wei chuckled and said, "Relying solely on my own power, naturally I couldn't unleash such tremendous force. I merely used a bit of my power to trigger the power of the world itself."

"I borrowed just a little of the world's fundamental rules."

Elemental fusion was the power of the world's underlying rules.

Part of the world's laws and principles.

Li Wei had only used his authority—the intermediate elemental fusion rule.

To trigger the power of elemental fusion.

Elemental fusion possessed the special rule of chain reaction. All Li Wei did was initiate the chain reaction, wait for it to accumulate sufficient time, and reach geometric exponential growth.

At this point, it had already far exceeded Li Wei's ability to control.

Everything that followed was driven by the world's rules continuing the chain reaction.

Until the chain reaction collapsed, releasing all the energy produced by elemental fusion in a heaven-shaking, earth-moving super explosion.

Li Wei was merely the one who pressed the button to start the elemental fusion chain reaction.

In truth, everything that followed had nothing to do with him.

The legendary lich stood stunned for a moment, then came to his senses, murmuring, "The truth of magic?"

Hearing this, Li Wei was somewhat surprised.

After pondering for a moment, he said, "For now, let's call it part of the truth of magic."

The so-called truth of magic was essentially the grand unified theory explaining how the world operated.

Elemental fusion indicated that the creation myth claiming the world was composed of four basic elements was true.

Naturally, this also touched upon what was called the truth of magic.

The truth of magic was the supreme goal pursued by all mages.

Mages believed that mastering the truth of magic would allow them to accomplish anything and solve any problem.

The so-called universal formula.

Li Wei glanced at the explosion crater and said, "Your undead are all dead."

The legendary lich was unconcerned, saying, "It doesn't matter. As long as we killed him, the Death Realm still has countless undead."

He sighed and said, "If the Jade Prince was this formidable, then that Dragon King who can fight gods himself must be even more terrifying."

"It seems my accumulation is still insufficient."

He looked toward the massive crater of the explosion, not turning back as he said to Li Wei, "Having dealt with the Jade Prince fulfills one of my wishes. Next, I will journey to the Dark World to accumulate greater power, and in the future, launch a war of revenge against the Dragon King."

Li Wei watched him silently. If the legendary lich disappeared from the world, perhaps the ancient battlefield ruins could finally achieve complete peace.

The Elemental Tower wouldn't need to worry about the undead apocalypse.

The legendary lich had already used the undead within the ancient battlefield ruins once to launch an undead apocalypse.

At present, the undead within the ancient battlefield were nearly all dead.

At least for a thousand years, there was no need to worry about new undead crises erupting.

If everything could settle down,

It would be good news for Li Wei.

At the very least, he currently served the Elemental Tower. If the Elemental Tower could stabilize, he could peacefully pursue his own affairs.

Li Wei said, "Then I wish you smooth sailing."

The legendary lich gazed at Levi, letting out a bitter smile as he sighed, “To think we meet again—I can hardly fathom the extent of your power now.”

“Perhaps by the next time we meet, you’ll already be a demigod.”

Levi smiled lightly. “Perhaps.”

“Oh, by the way—was that artifact you just used a divine tool?” Levi asked, curiosity flickering in his eyes.

The legendary lich nodded slowly. “It’s a divine artifact from the Realm of the Dead—the Scythe of Death himself.”

“But it’s not the true scythe,” he added. “Just a replica, and even that has been grievously damaged.”

Levi studied the lich more intently.

Clearly, this being had lived through quite the tale over the past millennium.

He wasn’t merely hiding in the ancient battlefield, clinging to life as the Elemental Tower believed.

Otherwise, how could he have come into possession of such a broken divine artifact?

Suddenly, a thought struck him. There were rumors that deep within the ruins of the ancient battlefield lay a rift connecting to the Realm of the Dead.

The deathly aura seeping from that realm into the material plane was said to be the reason why undead continued to multiply endlessly here—even without fresh corpses, new undead kept emerging.

Could that really be true?

Levi voiced his question. “Is there truly a spatial rift linking to the Realm of the Dead hidden deep within the ancient battlefield?”

The legendary lich nodded. “There is—but it’s extremely dangerous.”

“That place is saturated with deathly energy and force. No ordinary living being can approach it. To mortals, it is an absolute land of death. Only undead can traverse the rift and enter the Realm of the Dead.”

Levi nodded, committing every word to memory.

So the lich must have passed through that very rift to reach the Realm of the Dead.

Together, they made their way toward the epicenter of the explosion to survey the aftermath.

Unfortunately, the catastrophic blast had obliterated everything.

Even the demi-artifact held by the Jade Prince had not survived.

The legendary lich lamented, “The Jade Prince also carried a spatial ring of demigod-level quality. If only it had remained intact—it would’ve been priceless, likely filled with treasures.”

Levi chuckled. “No need to worry. I’ve already emptied the Jade Prince’s treasury.”

“The demi-artifact the Emperor gifted him? I’ve already taken it.”

The legendary lich looked surprised. “How did you manage that? Did you attack the Jade Domain?”

Levi explained how he’d used illusion magic to hide within a gift shipment, sneaking into the prince’s vault to loot everything inside.

The lich’s expression turned deeply moved.

“To think my casually crafted illusion spell would be put to such brilliant use…”

A ripple of wind-elemental magic stirred in the distance.

Levi glanced up and recognized the signature—it was the Windstrider approaching.

The battle was over.

Now that it was safe, the Windstrider dared to fly full speed toward them to inspect the wreckage.

Levi bid farewell to the legendary lich.

He soared toward the Windstrider, while the lich gathered the surviving undead on the ground, preparing to journey to the Dark World to further strengthen himself.

The Windstrider flew swiftly, then suddenly spotted a figure ahead.

As he drew closer, he saw it was Levi and looked genuinely surprised.

His flight slowed gradually.

Stopping before Levi, the Windstrider peered toward the massive crater far behind him.

He asked, “Did you see who the two sides fighting here were?”

Levi shook his head. “By the time I arrived, the battle was already over. I nearly got caught in the final explosion’s shockwave.”

Seeing this, the Windstrider said, “Perfect. Come with me. Let’s investigate the traces left behind. Maybe we can deduce their identities.”

Levi replied, “You go ahead. I’m heading back.”

The Windstrider frowned, paused for a moment, then nodded. “Alright. Take the news of the battle’s end back to the Towermaster.”

Levi nodded. “Will do.”

With that, he opened a spatial portal and vanished before the Windstrider’s eyes.

After a brief pause, the Windstrider flew toward the battlefield, searching for clues to uncover the identities of those who fought.

Meanwhile, Levi returned to the forward outpost established by the Elemental Tower in the ancient battlefield.

He met with Sean and exchanged a few words.

Sean couldn’t help but marvel. “I can’t believe how little time has passed—and yet you’re already a legendary mage. It’s incredible.”

“Your rate of growth surpasses even mine. I wonder if you carry some kind of super-mage bloodline.”

To this, Levi could only laugh silently.

He shared some good news with Sean. “Perhaps this outpost won’t be needed anymore. You can return to the floating city.”

Hearing that, Sean froze for a moment, clearly surprised.

Then he laughed softly. “Actually, staying here isn’t so bad. At least I still have some freedom.”

Levi asked, “Don’t you want to explore the world beyond the Elemental Tower?”

Sean’s expression shifted slightly, a glimmer of longing appearing in his eyes.

Levi smiled. “Don’t worry about it. After all, I’m a council member of the Elemental Tower now. I have the right to petition for changes—like lifting the restrictions on you.”

Sean said, touched, “I… I don’t know how to thank you.”

Though he always acted like he preferred to stay hidden, Levi knew Sean didn’t truly enjoy being confined within the tower.

But due to his heritage—from both parents—he had no choice.

His father was a mage of the Elemental Tower; his mother, a Hellfire Demon.

Thus, Sean became a bloodline sorcerer, inheriting powerful demonic essence.

With that demonic blood, becoming a fifth-rank bloodline sorcerer came easily.

Yet precisely because of that same bloodline, he was seen by the Elemental Tower as bearing cursed lineage.

Confined within the tower, forbidden from leaving, stripped of freedom.

They feared that once outside, his dark powers might spiral out of control, harming others.

And that would bring ill repute upon the Elemental Tower itself.

Regardless, Sean’s father had once been one of the Elemental Tower’s legendary mages.

The Elemental Tower had to consider the face of the legendary mage, and at the same time, uphold its own reputation.

Li Wei said, "It's too early for thanks now. Wait until I truly help you gain your freedom."

"Alright then, I'll return to the Elemental Tower first. Perhaps we shall meet again someday."

"Mm, farewell."

After parting ways, Li Wei used the teleportation array at the outpost to return to the Elemental Tower.

As soon as Li Wei returned to the tower, someone came looking for him to inquire about what happened in the ancient battlefield.

Soon after, he was brought before the Tower Master and Deputy Tower Master.

All the high-ranking decision-makers of the Elemental Tower were present.

Li Wei also saw the Hall Master of the Hall of Truth.

He briefly recounted to the Elemental Tower leadership what occurred within the ancient battlefield.

He concealed the identities of the warring parties.

He only mentioned that by the time he arrived, the battle had already ended, and he hadn't seen either side.

The specific details would have to wait until the Windchasers returned with more information.

At the very least, he brought back news that both sides had ceased their conflict.

This allowed the Elemental Tower's leadership to breathe a sigh of relief.

If those demigod-level powerhouses continued fighting, they might have affected the Elemental Tower itself.

Thus, the Elemental Tower leadership waited for the Windchasers to bring back more detailed reports.

Li Wei returned to Warren's manor.

With his financial means, purchasing his own estate within the floating city would be effortless.

However, Li Wei had little need for such things.

Living anywhere was fine—he might not stay at the Elemental Tower much longer anyway.

There was no point in buying property.

He had grown accustomed to residing at Warren's manor.

Regarding the aftermath of the demigod battle in the ancient battlefield, Li Wei remained largely unaware.

He paid no attention to related news.

So long as the Elemental Tower leadership didn't summon him for further discussions, it was none of his concern.

Whatever the Windchasers uncovered would be their achievement alone.

Li Wei simply waited for the day after tomorrow, when he would travel to the Astral Plane to collect solar essence.

Research on the magic seeds could resume once he returned from the Astral Plane.

Besides, Hobis was handling the experiments.

Nothing significant could emerge in such a short timeframe.

Time swiftly approached the appointed moment for traveling to the Astral Plane to gather solar essence.

Fonridus informed Li Wei in advance.

Li Wei arrived early at the Hall of Truth, waiting for departure.

Fonridus explained to Li Wei: "A spatial mage from the Spatial Tower will arrive shortly. The spatial mage will open a portal leading to the Astral Plane. Upon arrival, just follow the Elemental Tower team to collect the solar essence."

"Do not wander off randomly while in the Astral Plane, or you may easily become lost and unable to return to the material world."
