Chapter 30: 30 One-Sided

Chapter 30. Overwhelming Victory

From Wushan Fort to Forest Town, the guards had spent ten days with Ronin.

During these ten days, Ronin had completely established the image of a "lord" in the hearts of the guards through promises of high pay, distribution of sufficient food, and training in discipline and obedience.

So when he ordered the attack, the guards all gripped their longswords tightly and followed the knights into the charge.

The tense situation erupted completely with Ronin's shouted command, "Kill!"

The distance between the two forces on the mountain path was only a few dozen meters. With the warhorses galloping, in almost a blink, Macken had already engaged with Prist.

Longswords clashed, fighting spirit erupted, and their mounts emitted violent cries.

Under the tremendous impact, Prist's warhorse seemed unsteady, staggering as if about to fall. The rider on its back had not expected this knight's strength to surpass his own!

He directly kicked the horse's back, leaping into the air, flying over the others, landing outside the battle.

With Prist retreating, his subordinates surrounded Macken. Two knights attacked Macken, while the remaining two launched attacks toward Ronin and David.

Ronin had practiced mounted combat with Macken before, but his experience was still not sufficient.

Fortunately, this opposing knight's skill seemed not very high either.

Just from one exchange, he could not withstand the force transmitted from Ronin's longsword.

"A bit intimidating, but too weak?"

Ronin was now an accomplished primary knight. If not restricted by special traits, he would have already advanced to intermediate level.

The opponent was clearly still far from being accomplished, so in a direct power contest, he was completely no match for Ronin.

"I've given you the chance; you didn't cherish it."

At the moment the swords collided, Ronin pressed forward, immense force directly forcing the opponent's sword to strike his chest!

Ronin then swung his sword upward, cutting the opponent's throat vertically in the instant the horses crossed, slicing through his chin, and slaying him beneath the horse.

"Everyone, charge!"

With one strike successful, Ronin tightened the reins and shouted loudly. Seeing their lord had already killed one, the guards' morale soared.

They quickly passed Ronin, charging downward.

The infantry of both sides clashed together.

Close combat was perilous and terrifying. Ronin's guards had been eating well, drinking well, and training well during this period, each filled with strength;

Meanwhile, the opponent's twenty infantry had likely just rushed out from Forest Town, wasting much energy, and now fighting from low slope against high slope, they were completely disadvantaged.

As soon the infantry engaged, Ronin's side quickly suppressed the opposition.

Ronin glanced briefly at David; he was concerned about this lad who had just broken through to become a professional knight.

Fortunately, though somewhat suppressed by his opponent, he could barely hold, likely not a major problem for a short time.

Thus, the key to deciding this battle lay with Macken.

Ronin immediately turned his horse, preparing to help Macken.

But before he moved, Macken repelled the besieging knights with two moves, simultaneously jumping off his horse, lunging straight toward Prist who had left the battle.

"Impossible! How can you have such a strong knight beside you!"

Prist was terrified, shouting as he gripped the sword hilt with both hands, fighting spirit surging on the longsword, transforming into flames, slashing toward Macken.

Ronin's eyes brightened; Prist was a fire-attribute professional knight, this move likely belonged to fighting techniques.

Seeing the opponent use fighting techniques, Macken pulled the iron shield from his back.

He roared like a warrior counterattacking desperately, fighting spirit erupting all over his body, even the shield shimmered with earthy yellow light.

"Crash!"

The flame slash struck the shield, shattered into countless sparks. Macken had forcefully blocked this strike with the shield.

The immense impact forced Macken backward; he thrust his sword into the ground, halting his retreat while earth-attribute fighting spirit infused into the soil.

Suddenly, a conical earth spike emerged from the ground, piercing into Prist's calf while his attention waned after executing the move!

"Ah!"

Prist screamed in pain. He strained to pull out his leg, wanting to flee, but soon a cold sword pressed against his neck.

"Surrender!"

Macken said coldly, "If Lord Ronin were not merciful, ordering me not to kill you, your head would already be at your feet!"

Prist widened his eyes, completely unbelieving he would fail, and fail so swiftly.

Perhaps Prist's strength was not too far behind Macken, but evidently, Macken's combat experience surpassed his considerably.

Moreover, the opponent had not anticipated Macken's prowess, causing emotional loss under swift collapse, allowing Macken to completely overwhelm.

"This guy..."

Ronin could not help shaking his head with a smile. If it were him, he definitely would not use a shield to withstand the opponent's flame slash—what if the shield shattered?

One could only say Macken fought with super bravery, possessing strong intuition.

"Administrator Prist has been defeated!"

Ronin shouted loudly, "The rest drop your weapons, lie on the ground, you will not be killed!"

His voice spread afar. Prist's infantry heard it, immediately falling into stunned bewilderment; after mere momentary bewilderment, Ronin's infantry pierced their bodies.

Brief unilateral slaughter ensued. Forest Town's infantry finally reacted, discarding weapons with fearful faces, lying on the ground, continuously wailing and pleading.

They had lost courage to continue fighting.

While Ronin's guards, though a few did not halt action, harming some surrendered enemies, most reacted, merely placing swords against others' necks, not attacking further.

The chaotic battlefield quieted instantly, only wails and horse cries remained.

Seeing the situation dire, the two remaining professional knights under Prist mounted horses, fleeing desperately.

They did not flee back but attempted to flee south along the mountain path away from Forest Town.

"Still trying to flee?"

Ronin forcefully slapped the horse's rear; the warhorse cried, galloping toward them.

"If I were an intermediate-level mage, it would be good," Ronin thought while chasing.

If he could use wind blade spells, he could easily strike them from behind now.

Fortunately, his mount was of excellent quality, accelerating swiftly; even allowing them two seconds' escape, Ronin quickly caught up.

"Stay!"

His longsword from behind targeted the opponent's heart; forced, the knight could only turn and counter.

In the clash, the knight already disarrayed, Ronin wounded his arm with one sword stroke, causing him to fall from horseback, tumbling into dust.

Ronin disregarding, chased the other, intercepting him with the same method.

David approached, placing sword against one's neck controlling him; Ronin controlled the other.

Thus far, Prist and all his subordinates were either controlled by Ronin's people or lying on the ground lacking courage to resist.

"You've done quite well, David~"

Ronin praised, surprised that this novice who had only recently advanced could win his first battle.

David was somewhat embarrassed, chuckling sheepishly. "Sir, I actually couldn't defeat that man. But when he heard your voice, he immediately dropped his weapon and surrendered by lying on the ground. That's how I managed to break free and come over."

"Oh?" Ronin raised his eyebrows.

He turned to look, and indeed, the knight who had just fought David was lying on the ground, obediently subdued. There truly were people who knew how to adapt to circumstances.

As Ronin surveyed the battlefield, the mage Elron moved among the wounded, continuously casting healing spells to quickly mend the injuries of the bleeding guards.

Ronin gathered the five professionals together and approached Princeton, smiling as he asked, "Is this outcome slightly different from what you imagined?"

While speaking, he waved to Elron. "Give his injuries a dose of healing. I don't want him dead right now."

"Yes, sir. You are truly merciful to captives!"

Elron approached, removed the earth spike from Princeton's leg, and then cast two healing spells.

The rate of blood loss slowed significantly under the effect of the healing, but perhaps the injury was too severe; the wound showed no signs of closing.

"Sir, the earth spike damaged the bone. Healing spells alone cannot fully restore such a wound."

Ronin waved his hand dismissively. "That's enough. Just keep him alive."

Princeton looked at Ronin with a pale face. "I didn't expect you not only had a mid-level knight but also a mysterious light attribute mage!"

He gritted his teeth, suppressing the anger of his defeat unwillingly. "I even more didn't expect that the supposedly worthless eldest grandson of the Marquis was also a professional knight."

"Administrator, there are many things you didn't anticipate, and they are fatal."

Ronin smiled faintly. "I am quite curious, who told you these details about me?"

Princeton lowered his head, seemingly contemplating whether to answer the question.

Just then, the knight kneeling beside him, who had been subdued by David, whispered a reminder, "Don't forget your oath!"
