Chapter 161: If It Wants To, It Can Swallow the Wangyue Continent in One Gulp
Chapter 161: If He Wished, He Could Swallow Wangyue Continent in One Gulp
Zhang Yan, with white hair, looked at Zhao Ci and said earnestly, "Wangyue Continent has no future; the Mara Clan is utterly unstoppable.
You might as well become my disciple and join the Canglan Realm."
"Senior, when I was young, I swore that I would never take a master in this life, and if I did, it would be the strongest—the Faceless Sword God!" Zhao Ci's gaze was firm.
He had grown up hearing tales of the Faceless Sword God, and he held boundless admiration, even fervor, for the one who turned the tide and single-handedly fought three thousand extraterrestrial demons.
"Hmph!" Zhang Yan snorted. "Shortsighted. Wangyue Continent's Heavenly Dao is flawed; its strongest are merely Divine Infants.
No matter how strong the Faceless Sword God is, he is but an aberrant Purple Mansion.
As for me, I have hope of stepping into the Purple Mansion in this lifetime.
If this so-called Faceless Sword God appeared before me, how would he deal with a single original divine ability of mine?"
Zhao Ci said nothing.
He knew he could not convince Zhang Yan.
"Oh, by the way, your third brother tried to secretly go and welcome this so-called Blood-Robed Sword God, and Hu Mang cut him into a human pig." Zhang Yan said lightly.
Zhao Ci's movements froze; the water in the basin rippled.
A layer of mist seemed to form before his eyes.
His third brother... an upright man, always ready to help others, who often took him horseback riding when they were young.
Now, he had been made a human pig—his hands and feet severed, his eyes gouged out, his vocal cords pierced, his ears punctured.
How could his heart not be filled with indignation?
"My patience is limited. If within three days you do not give me a satisfactory answer, your third brother's fate may become yours," Zhang Yan said coldly.
He could not be bothered to continue communicating properly with this native of Wangyue Continent.
...
Above the firmament, a flash of blood-red light streaked by.
Qi Yuan and his group of four landed on the city wall outside the capital of the Chuang Kingdom.
In less than a moment, several terrifying auras approached.
Qi Yuan looked and saw several Divine Infant cultivators from the Canglan Realm.
Qi Yuan said lazily, "Where is the Mara Clan's military camp? My sword is already thirsting."
At that moment, Zhang Yan stepped forward, his face bearing a respectful expression: "Are you the Blood-Robed Sword God, Senior? I am Zhang Yan, the elder brother of Mi'er, the female herald under the command of Venerable Ye Qiong."
Qi Yuan was taken aback upon hearing this.
Mi'er?
Wasn't she the arrogant woman who blocked his path and threatened him on his way to destroy the Guangming Palace, only to be killed by a single sword strike?
Her elder brother?
Qi Yuan's expression turned strange. Should he kill him?
But recalling that calamity should not extend to one's family, his murderous intent dissipated.
He did not like to kill entire families.
He was also puzzled. The other party was Mi'er's elder brother; knowing that he had killed his sister, was Zhang Yan not angry at all?
Could it be... that he was a noble and reasonable gentleman?
But upon second thought, he understood.
The entrance to Wangyue Continent rarely opened.
And Zhang Yan had entered Wangyue Continent a year ago.
Thus, the news of Qi Yuan killing Mi'er and destroying the Guangming Palace might not have reached Zhang Yan's ears yet.
"Mm, I want to go kill the Mara Clan. Just give me the location, and I'll go kill them," Qi Yuan said seriously.
He wanted to leave quickly; he feared that if he stayed near Zhang Yan too long, he would be unable to resist eliminating the root of trouble.
"Senior, the Mara Clan can be dealt with by us fellow cultivators. Senior should go elsewhere," Zhang Yan's tone rose. "We are here on the orders of Venerable Ye Qiong. I hope Senior will understand."
He only regarded the Blood-Robed Sword God as an ordinary Purple Mansion.
Thus, there was respect, but not much.
If he had known that Qi Yuan had destroyed the Guangming Palace, if he had known Qi Yuan's temperament—or rather, that his mind was erratic—he would not have spoken thus.
"I am naturally inclined to help others, and besides, Wangyue Continent is my home. Its care cannot rely solely on everyone; it must also depend on me, its master," Qi Yuan said, somewhat more politely since he had killed Zhang Yan's sister.
Zhang Yan smiled and said, "Your Majesty the Emperor, why don't you tell us—do we need their help?"
The man in the dragon robe, old and frail, with turbid eyes full of helplessness, finally spoke: "Thank you for your kindness, Senior. We will deal with the Mara Clan ourselves."
Beside them, Zhao Ci felt a sense of loss at this sight.
The young girl's expression also darkened, quite noticeably.
Zhang Yan smiled and said, "Blood-Robed Sword God Senior, please take your leave!"
Qi Yuan glanced at the old emperor: "If you are being threatened, just blink."
Hearing this, the old emperor was somewhat startled. He, who was prone to blinking anyway, involuntarily blinked.
Qi Yuan saw this and his face flushed with anger: "Excellent! So you are threatening the emperor."
Qi Yuan instantly erupted in fury at the dozen or so Divine Infant cultivators present.
In the past, these people might have been his white moonlight, deserving of serious treatment.
But to him now, these dozen Divine Infants were nothing but dog shit!
Qi Yuan let out a great roar, startling almost everyone present.
Great Wisdom True Lord could not help but add, "According to my research on the law, threatening the emperor is a crime punishable by the extermination of nine generations.
Alas, your mothers... are gone."
The Divine Infant cultivators on the field changed expression slightly.
Zhang Yan could not help but repeat, "Blood-Robed Sword God Senior, we are here on the orders of Venerable Ye Qiong!
Senior, please think twice!"
"Great Wisdom True Lord said that threatening the emperor incurs the extermination of nine generations.
Your sister is Venerable Ye Qiong's female herald, and Venerable Ye Qiong barely counts as part of your nine generations. He too is implicated, unable to save himself." Qi Yuan would not let the matter rest.
He had finally found a reason to convict Venerable Ye Qiong.
He instantly stood on the moral high ground again.
Qi Yuan's words caused the Divine Infant cultivators present to change expression slightly.
They had no idea what Qi Yuan meant by this.
In their hearts, they only felt that this man was audacious beyond measure.
However, facing a Purple Mansion cultivator, they still dared not oppress him too much with their authority.
Otherwise, being killed would be too unlucky.
“Senior, it’s not that we’re stopping you from killing the Mara clan.
It’s just… Senior is already a Purple Mansion, and if you indiscriminately slaughter Mara clansmen on Wangyue Continent,
I fear the Mara clan’s Purple Mansion has already received word and will come to besiege you. Senior, best be cautious!” Zhang Yan said, adding a veiled threat.
“Don’t change the subject—exterminate the nine clans, behead, behead!” Qi Yuan roared.
The longsword in his hand was drawn, blood energy surging to the heavens.
Zhang Yan’s face darkened: “Senior, are you serious?”
“Hmph, not mentioning the extermination of the nine clans, you maliciously stop me from cleaning the trash in my own home—your heart deserves death!
No, you’re all trash in my home, deserving death!”
Qi Yuan finished speaking, heedless of anything, the blood-colored longsword in his hand seething.
The sword lashed out, giving these dozen or so Divine Infants no time to react.
In an instant, sixteen fine heads fell to the ground.
As for the Divine Infants within their bodies, they hadn’t even been summoned and fell silent.
These Divine Infants, until their deaths, never imagined they would be killed like this.
Qi Yuan, without a word of disagreement, directly slew over a dozen Divine Infants.
Zhao Ci on the scene saw this, his heart stirring: “Thank you, Senior, for saving my Chuang Kingdom from calamity!”
Without any hesitation, Zhao Ci knelt directly, his face full of excitement.
The Chuang Kingdom people present also knelt involuntarily, grateful to this suddenly appearing Blood-Robed Sword God.
Qi Yuan waved his hand, and everyone present rose.
“I’m going to kill the Mara clan—send me the addresses and locations.
Then, I need cultivation techniques, the more the better!” Qi Yuan said.
The old emperor quickly replied: “I’ll prepare them for you now, Senior!”
Qi Yuan nodded at this.
He glanced at the corpses of the Divine Infants on the ground, then looked at Zhao Ci: “Your sword is fine—may I borrow it?”
Zhao Ci, flattered, handed over the sword: “Senior, please use it!”
Qi Yuan took the sword, examined its shape, and spoke cryptically: “This sword… is somewhat special.”
Zhao Ci said proudly: “This sword was forged in imitation of the Faceless Sword God’s personal blade.”
“Faceless Sword God?” Qi Yuan sighed inwardly.
He had never imagined that events from countless ages ago still echoed to the present.
Qi Yuan held the sword, blood-red aura surging into it, then swung it and thrust it into the official road before the imperial city.
He said softly: “Cultivators of the Canglan Realm—cross this sword, and you shall be killed without mercy!”
His voice was like a decree.
The blood sword stood in the ground, exuding a terrifying aura.
He naturally did not wish his feud with Venerable Ye Qiong to involve this small nation.
Having slain so many Divine Infants, to prevent retaliation against the Chuang Kingdom by Venerable Ye Qiong’s subordinates, he left this sword behind.
This sword could easily kill the Divine Infants at the stronghold.
As for later arrivals of Purple Mansion or even Yin Spirits, by then… he would likely have fully taken over Wangyue Continent, able to appear here with a single thought.
Zhao Ci saw this, his face excited: “Senior, have you also heard the tale of the Faceless Sword God and the Moon Maiden?”
“Hm?” Qi Yuan was surprised.
“Long ago, the Hundred Kingdoms Alliance produced many experts who ambushed the Faceless Sword God.
The Faceless Sword God gave his personal sword to the Moon Maiden, who held it in the wind and snow, and before a thousand troops and ten thousand horses, she coldly shouted, ‘Cross this sword, and you shall be killed without mercy.’ The Hundred Cities Alliance’s experts grew bold as leopards and actually dared to cross that sword, only to be slain by a single strike.” An ancient memory surfaced in his mind, and Qi Yuan’s expression softened: “How do you know this so clearly?”
“Which follower of the Faceless God Cult doesn’t know?” Zhao Ci said.
Qi Yuan was stunned.
When had a Faceless God Cult appeared?
He had become a “god”?
“My third brother also believed in the Faceless Sword God, but alas… they mutilated him into a human pig!” Zhao Ci gnashed his teeth, wishing he could eat the flesh and drink the blood of those dozen or so Divine Infants.
Qi Yuan said calmly: “Bring him to me so I can see.”
These followers of the Faceless God Cult were all his fans.
He rarely had fans, so he certainly had to treat them well.
Who could blame them for having such good taste!
Zhao Ci’s heart leaped with joy: “Good!”
Before long, several soldiers appeared carrying a stretcher.
On the stretcher lay a person whose limbs had been cut off, no longer human in form.
Qi Yuan looked at that person and placed his hand on this prince.
In an instant, the prince’s flesh and blood grew wildly.
His destroyed vocal cords and eyeballs were also reborn at that moment.
Zhao Ci’s face showed immense gratitude, a thousand words in his heart, but he knew not how to speak them.
Beside him, Jiang Ya’s eyes revealed surprise: “I never expected Senior Blood-Robed Sword God to be so skilled in the medical arts.”
It was normal for powerful cultivators to use their cultivation to heal others.
But the method the Blood-Robed Sword God used was beyond her understanding, though she could tell it wasn’t healing through cultivation.
That likely meant the Blood-Robed Sword God knew some special medical arts.
“I don’t know medical arts—this world is mine, so restoring someone’s injuries is simple,” Qi Yuan said, adding, “What I’m best at is modifying cultivation techniques.”
Jiang Ya was taken aback.
She thought of Qi Yuan, who was also skilled at modifying techniques.
The resemblance was too uncanny.
If not for the vast gap in cultivation, she would have thought they were the same person.
But… was Qi Yuan really at the Foundation Establishment stage?
Just then, an ethereal voice reached Qi Yuan’s ears.
“Blood-Robed Sword God, may we have a word?”
Qi Yuan’s expression shifted slightly.
Yin Shen!
Indeed, the one who had transmitted the voice to him was unmistakably a Yin Shen.
“Stay here carefully for a moment. I’ll step out and return shortly.” After a moment’s thought, Qi Yuan’s form vanished.
Before he had fully taken control of Wangyue Continent, he had already encountered a Yin Shen.
A sense of urgency stirred within him.
Yet, recalling that he still had Ning Tao, his confidence swelled once more.
About a dozen breaths later, Qi Yuan halted by the shore of a lake.
By the lakeside, lush green trees thrived, and a woman in white robes as pure as snow stood there, her face shrouded in a veil of mist, obscuring her features.
[This is a somewhat mysterious woman, her cultivation at the Yin Shen realm, one step into the heavens.]
The information gleaned from his eyes confirmed the cultivation of this Yin Shen in Qi Yuan’s mind.
Qi Yuan could ascertain that she was not from Wangyue Continent but hailed from Canglan Realm.
“Who are you? A venerable from the Eastern Lands? What business do you have with me?”
The woman in white gazed at Qi Yuan and shook her head. “I am no venerable from the Eastern Lands.
I came here to advise you, sir, to cease slaughtering the Moruo clan.”
“Oh?” Qi Yuan was taken aback, curious about the identity of the woman in white before him.
To be honest, strictly speaking, this was the first Yin Shen he had ever encountered.
“On Wangyue Continent, the Moruo clan harbors five Yin Shen, two of whom are Yin Shen at the second step of heaven-treading.
Your wanton slaughter of the Moruo clan here will draw the attention of those five Yin Shen.
Before long, I fear, those five Yin Shen will emerge and encircle you to kill you.”
“When they emerge, who will be encircling whom remains to be seen!” Qi Yuan declared with confidence.
By then, he would have fully taken over Wangyue Continent.
His power would surge; he refused to believe he could not defeat those five Yin Shen.
Moreover, by then, the spiritual energy within him would likely be fully restored, along with his stellar golden core.
Upon hearing this, the woman in white’s expression remained impassive. “Your strength is indeed formidable, but facing those five Yin Shen, the outcome is still uncertain.”
“I have faith.”
The woman in white let out a soft sigh. “Sir… alas.”
“What, does this concern you?” Qi Yuan asked.
He refused to believe this Yin Shen was so benevolent as to be looking out for him.
“I have secretly infiltrated this realm to accomplish a great task,” the woman in white said. “Your awakening of those five Yin Shen may well disrupt my plans.”
“Then I can only offer my apologies,” Qi Yuan replied sincerely.
The woman in white gazed at the Blood-Robed Sword God for a long moment before speaking. “Sir, are you aware of the Great Calamity?”
“A smattering,” Qi Yuan answered.
A smattering—hardly; he knew nothing at all.
“The Great Calamity approaches; we Yin Shen can barely save ourselves.
Even fleeing to Wangyue Continent only buys us a chance to compromise, yet we cannot escape the fate of our cultivation being greatly diminished!” The woman in white sighed, her words steeped in anxiety for the future.
“Continue,” Qi Yuan said.
“Now, I have a path to escape Canglan Realm, to flee Wangyue Continent, and to break free from the Great Calamity entirely!
All I ask is that you cooperate with me, sir, and agree to help me with one matter. I am willing to share that path with you.” The woman in white spoke with utmost sincerity.
She trusted no Yin Shen from Canglan Realm.
Not even the Blood-Robed Sword God.
Yet the Blood-Robed Sword God’s indiscriminate slaughter here had ruined her plans, forcing her to reveal herself.
Qi Yuan furrowed his brow upon hearing this. “Is the Great Calamity that powerful?”
The woman in white nodded. “If It so wills, It could swallow Wangyue Continent in one gulp.”
She left the latter half unsaid.
Wangyue Continent’s Heavenly Dao was flawed, which made it so easy to swallow.
Had Wangyue Continent’s Heavenly Dao been intact, that entity’s attempt to swallow it would have been nearly impossible—though a world of lower energy level might have been feasible.
Of course, there was no need to mention this to the Blood-Robed Sword God.
“So powerful!” Qi Yuan’s heart trembled at the words.
Wangyue Continent was vast—at least the size of a dozen or so hundred kingdoms.
And yet, to swallow Wangyue Continent in one gulp!
How mighty was that!
Qi Yuan’s confidence was instantly shattered.
“Is It so strong that It could swallow the sun in the sky?” Qi Yuan asked weakly.
If It was that powerful, capable of devouring even the sun, he was certainly no match now.
Such a being surpassed his understanding.
The woman in white could not help but laugh at this. “Sir, are you jesting?
A Yin Shen who can illuminate the myriad realms is at least at the Great Venerable stage.
Not to mention the sun, a mighty celestial deity.
Even the one behind the Great Calamity cannot swallow the sun.”
Hearing this, Qi Yuan breathed a sigh of relief.
Yet unease still lingered in his heart.
After all, his golden core was in another universe.
When would he ever manage to transport it here?
“The Great Calamity is but a few hundred years away, sir. You must prepare early and leave this realm, or else… alas.” The woman in white sighed again.
“Could the Great Calamity arrive ahead of schedule?” Qi Yuan asked once more.
“No,” the woman in white shook her head, speaking with certainty. “It is in a daze.”
The urgency in Qi Yuan’s heart eased slightly. “That’s good. A few hundred years—never mind that my stellar golden core might have devoured a few more stars, even my daughter will likely have stood alone through the ages by then. No fear!”
The woman in white furrowed her brow.
She had long heard that the Blood-Robed Sword God was mad and delirious.
She had thought this madness was but a passing phase; who would have known that even in matters of great import, he would be so utterly unhinged.
This was a great calamity!
The tribulation of all beings in the Canglan Realm, and yet... such an attitude.
"Sir, are you truly unwilling to cooperate with me and leave this realm together?" the woman in white asked once more.
"The Canglan Realm is my second home, and the Wangyue Continent my third. I will not leave for now," Qi Yuan said earnestly.
Disappointment flickered across the woman in white's face. "In that case, sir, you must be more cautious. Delay as long as possible before unleashing the power of a Yin Shen."
"Alright." Qi Yuan nodded. Then, struck by a thought, he could not help but ask, "Senior, may I ask you a question?"
It was rare to encounter a Yin Shen; he needed to learn more about them.
"Oh?"
"It's just... I am a Heavenly Dao Foundation Establishment, using the Heavenly Dao of the Wangyue Continent. I swallowed it whole. Now that I have taken control of the Wangyue Continent again, roughly how strong am I?"
The woman in white listened, her expression odd. "I have never heard of such a Heavenly Dao Foundation Establishment.
But... to scheme and devour a Heavenly Dao born in any world, one must at least be at the Great Venerable realm.
Even for a world the size of a palm, if a Heavenly Dao is born, an ordinary Yin Shen Venerable cannot scheme against it; it must be a Great Venerable.
Worlds vary in energy level, and Great Venerables vary in strength. Not all Great Venerables can scheme against a Heavenly Dao.
The Heavenly Dao of some powerful worlds can leave even a Yang Shen helpless!"
Qi Yuan was taken aback, then asked expectantly, "Then how strong am I?"
The woman in white smiled bitterly. "Such a matter is beyond my knowledge."
PS: Why are stories like the Faceless Sword God not widely known during the Jinli period? This will be revealed later.
