Chapter 33: Fallen Holy Grail
Chapter 33: The Fallen Holy Grail
On the second floor of the villa, in a small conference room.
The sun was dipping toward the west, casting blood-red remnants of evening light through the glass windows onto the floor. The white wool carpet was stained with a brilliant, translucent crimson.
Li Dongze, Qingteng, Bailong, Tang Guoqiang, Dajiba... several captain-level figures sat with straight backs around the conference table. Almost every single captain of the Spirit Realm Walkers from the Kangyang District who could make it had arrived.
In addition to the captains of the Five Elements Alliance, Yuan Ting, who had just returned from the capital, was also present at the meeting.
As a Scout, Li Dongze keenly noticed that Yuan Ting was not in a good mental state. Frowning, he asked:
"Are you injured?"
His face pale, Yuan Ting leaned back weakly against the chair, resting with his eyes closed. Hearing the question, he opened them, his expression composed as he said:
"No. It is just that during this trip to the capital, Elder Sun held me in extremely high regard. He believes I will be a pillar of the Taiyi Sect in the future, so he insisted on training me personally. I overexerted myself, which is why I am not in top condition."
Everyone felt a sudden surge of profound respect.
Fu Qingyang glanced at him but offered no comment. Instead, he said solemnly:
"Let's get down to business. What did Yuanshi see in Ou Xiangrong’s memory that made you rush over here in such a hurry?"
Several captains immediately directed grave stares toward Li Dongze.
The moment this fellow left the morgue, he had summoned everyone to the Centurion's place without a word of explanation, claiming a major incident had occurred.
When asked what it was, he refused to speak, leaving everyone anxious and impatient.
Li Dongze cleared his throat and looked around at everyone at the table. "Our Night Wanderer learned from Ou Xiangrong’s memory what exactly the Holy Grail is. It is an item belonging to the Judge of the Eerie Eye, and its full name is the Fallen Holy Grail."
"The Judge of the Eerie Eye... the Fallen Holy Grail?"
The captains on both sides of the conference table could not help but look at one another, their expressions a mix of gravity and bewilderment.
The Judge of the Eerie Eye was the Vice Chairman of the Eastern District Branch of the Spiritual Ability Society.
The Spiritual Ability Society was a notorious, evil organization among Spirit Realm Walkers, composed of a group of powerful and frenzied Witch-Gu Masters. As the Vice Chairman of the Eastern District Branch, the Judge of the Eerie Eye ranked eighth on the Five Elements Alliance's bounty list, a powerhouse capable of moving mountains and draining seas.
No one expected that Ou Xiangrong’s case would involve a figure of such a level.
As for their bewilderment, it was because they had never heard of the item known as the Fallen Holy Grail.
"Ou Xiangrong was looking for an item belonging to the Judge of the Eerie Eye?" Dajiba furrowed his brows, speaking bluntly: "That kid’s brain really was no longer normal."
A mere Demonic Wizard
The evil organizations also loathed this man, for the Demon Lord killed without restraint, stewing both righteous and wicked in one pot.
Until early last year, when he encountered the female marshal of the White Tiger Legion in a high-level combat spirit realm and was severely wounded by that extraordinarily talented woman, only then did he vanish from the scene.
"And then?" Fu Qingyang resumed his cold demeanor.
"The Sect Master gave us a task: find the Demon Lord's successor. From two months ago to the end of this year, all newcomers who become Night Wanderers are subjects for our screening," Yuan Ting said.
Fu Qingyang frowned. "Even if some lucky soul obtains the Demon Lord's character card, it has nothing to do with the Demon Lord. Why does your Sect Master want to find him? Don't tell me it's because he cherishes talent."
After a Spirit Realm Walker dies, the Spirit Realm clears all "data" of that character and then seeks a new owner for the character card.
When a high-level Spirit Realm Walker falls, some things remain when the character card is formatted—perhaps a certain benefit, perhaps a certain authority.
This type of character card is inherently stronger than ordinary character cards.
But in Fu Qingyang's view, this peculiarity was not enough to make the Taiyi Sect Master go to such trouble, considering that even the Demon Lord himself was of a lower level than that current strongest Night Wanderer.
Yuan Ting shook his head. "How would I know? I'm just following orders. In Songhai this year, only four newcomers have advanced to Night Wanderer. One died in the Spirit Realm, two joined the Taiyi Sect and were sent to the training camp. The last one is that person under Li Dongze. I want to conduct an interrogation with him."
Fu Qingyang stared at Yuan Ting, his deep brown eyes sharp and profound.
Yuan Ting steeled himself to meet his gaze.
"Fine, but regardless of the outcome, you must inform me first. You are not to take him to the capital without authorization."
……
At his desk, Zhang Yuanqing opened his computer and, after pondering for a long while, called out:
"Sister Guan Ya, how should I write the report?"
Guan Ya, scrolling through a drama on her phone, replied dismissively, "Didn't I send you the template? Just write according to it."
"It's not a format issue, it's the content..." Zhang Yuanqing said with a troubled expression.
He now had to write a report on killing Ou Xiangrong, and what troubled him was that if he omitted the existence of the Red Dancing Shoes, he would find it hard to convincingly describe the process of killing Ou Xiangrong.
After all, this was not something that could be glossed over with just a few words.
"Oh, you're so annoying." Guan Ya lightly spun her office chair, turned around, and said with mock annoyance, "How do you want to write it?"
Zhang Yuanqing pondered for a moment. "I want to reasonably highlight how I subdued Ou Xiangrong with my kingly aura, then, relying on my extraordinary skills and wise mind, engaged in a three-hundred-round battle with the Beguiling Demon, finally slaying this fiend who nearly caused a storm of blood in Songhai."
The mixed-race beauty rolled her eyes.
"Instead of reasonably highlighting these non-existent qualities, why not reasonably lower Ou Xiangrong's intelligence? You showed great resourcefulness in the garage—why are you being foolish now?"
Ah, right, Ou Xiangrong's mind was already unstable, and he was severely injured. As for the extent, outsiders wouldn't know—I can describe it however I want. It's not like he can rise from his coffin to defend himself... Zhang Yuanqing's eyes lit up.
"Got it, thank you, Sister Guan Ya."
He immediately began typing, describing Ou Xiangrong's madness and irrationality, while having already made a decision on how to handle the "Bloodthirsty Blade."
The Demon-Subduing Scepter's function leans more towards purification and demon suppression, not close combat. The Bloodthirsty Blade undoubtedly compensated for this shortcoming.
Its inherent bleeding and armor-breaking effects were a perfect match for the Night Wanderer's assassin attributes.
The only thing to consider was the anemia.
Once my experience increases and my abilities improve, the Night Wanderer's strong vitality and self-healing should allow me to support both items simultaneously... Scepter smites demons, blade slashes madmen—thinking about it is quite pleasant... After finishing the report and sending it to Li Dongze's email, Zhang Yuanqing asked:
"When will the rewards for clearing the Sheling Tunnel and this time's rewards be issued?"
"Your merits need approval from the Elder Council, and the fund transfer as well. They'll probably be issued together with next month's salary." Guan Ya said with a smile, "What, are you in a hurry to treat your sister to a meal? Hmm, I want abalone, sea cucumber, roast duck, imported ham, prime steak..."
No, that's too expensive. I can only treat you to a jianbing guozi, with an extra sausage and two eggs... Zhang Yuanqing thought to himself.
He checked the time; it was already 2:30 PM, so he planned to go home.
"Where did the Squad Leader and the other captains go?" Zhang Yuanqing asked before leaving.
After learning of Ou Xiangrong's memories, Li Dongze rather ungracefully hurried away with the captains, leaving no instructions.
"In a meeting."
Guan Ya held her phone, leaned back in her chair, and thrust out her impressive cleavage, laughing.
"Large and medium-level meetings for Spirit Realm Walkers in Kangyang District are usually held at Centurion Fu's place. Once you've been employed for over half a year and have more seniority, you can go there and have some fun."
"What's so fun about that? I hate meetings the most." Zhang Yuanqing was not interested.
Guan Ya winked and showed the smile of an experienced seductress. "There are many beautiful bunny girls there."
Zhang Yuanqing's face showed longing. "I really want to participate in the organization's meetings early and contribute to the organization's construction."
