Chapter 258: Crossing the Line

Chapter 258: Breaking the Line

Beyond the outskirts of Lingshan Wei City, an armed war chariot sped toward Weihai Wei.

Mo Jin clutched the window frame, thrusting half his body outside, gazing at the flames rising in the distance.

"You still couldn't kill me like this? Seems that rumor must be true."

Mo Jin undid his topknot with one hand, letting his shoulder-length hair whip wildly in the wind, then suddenly cursed aloud.

"Wu Xu Zhi Ge. Showing up now, damn it, how infuriating!"

After venting his irritation, Mo Jin slowly returned to the vehicle, his breath icy cold, and closed his eyes in contemplation.

According to the original plan, he would have settled Zhao Qingxia today.

Though the other party's disappearance would surely prompt Muzi Tang to investigate, with his family's influence in the Tianzhi Society, handling it wouldn't be difficult.

It was merely a matter of paying a price.

When the time came, Muzi Tang's entry quota would naturally return to his hands, and business in the home and the Wa people's area could continue.

In Mo Jin's view, Zhao Qingxia's appearance was just a trivial episode. Once he crushed this nameless underling, everything would return to normal, with silver and promotions continuing as usual.

But now, with Li Jun's fate, Mo Jin's plans were completely disrupted, and the situation had spiraled beyond this Tianzhi Society Mo Attack Corps' heir's control.

The opponent's background was no less formidable than his own, even surpassing him in threat level.

This left the proud Mo Jin utterly frustrated.

"A mad dog that bites on sight dares to challenge the wolf pack, Li Jun. Do you really think this young master fears you?"

Ding!

Suddenly, the neural interface at the back of Mo Jin's head emitted a prompt tone, and his vision began to shift.

A simple conference room unfolded before his eyes, with no luxurious Ming-style wooden furniture—only iron chairs and tables glowing with a cold light.

On the wall ahead hung a massive shield, its center embedded with the Mo family's token, the Muzi Sword.

A middle-aged man with an imposing presence sat beneath the shield, his cold expression making Mo Jin's heart sink.

"Father."

Mo Jin quickly restrained his anger, stood at attention, and bowed.

The only one who could be addressed thus was the Tianzhi Society Mo Attack Corps' commander, Mo Ke.

"I know about Lingshan Wei."

Mo Ke spoke directly, his voice calm and unreadable.

"The entire Seventh Unit was wiped out, including Deputy Commander Mo Xu Qi, who died in battle. This matter cannot be concealed. I will report it truthfully to the higher-ups."

Mo Jin's face showed shock. "Why?"

"This was Deputy Commander Xu Feng acting on his own, bypassing ranks to command. Though you were the Seventh Unit's leader, you were unaware of the entire process. Understand?"

Mo Jin suddenly realized. "Understood."

"That's how the Seventh Unit's matter ends. From now on, whoever asks, you'll stick to this story."

Mo Ke paused, then shifted his tone. "Next, I want to hear why you dragged Huangshi Group into this."

Mo Jin sensed the flicker of anger in his father's eyes and stiffened, speaking urgently. "I did it on purpose."

"Since Huangshi Group wanted to take goods from us, why not let them handle Li Jun? If successful, we profit. Even if they fail, we gain another ally to share the burden."

"What did you promise them to get them to act?"

Mo Jin's heart trembled. "Mojia."

"You've crossed the Tianzhi Society's line."

Mo Ke leaned back, his eyes narrowing slightly. After a long pause, he said, "Now that Sanlang is dead, Huangshi Group understands Li Jun's true strength. They probably won't send anyone else into this mess."

"Impossible?"

Mo Jin was puzzled. "Don't they want to do business with our family anymore?"

"Your act of concealing Li Jun's information is tantamount to betrayal in their eyes. Having been burned once, they'll wait quietly for us to settle this. If we lose, they'll seek out another Mo Attack Corps officer."

"But they don't worry we'll win and they'll lose their livelihood?!"

Mo Ke replied indifferently, "They need us, and we need them. Not all Wa people dare defy the Great Ming laws, and there's more than one Tianzhi Society in the Mo family."

"Then we'll do it ourselves!"

Mo Jin snarled, "I don't believe it—our Mo Attack Corps can't defeat a Wu Xu Six?!"

"Foolish!" Mo Ke's eyes snapped open.

Though in the Huangliang Dreamscape, Mo Jin still felt a crushing pressure.

"To attack with strategy first, then alliances, and finally troops! To personally engage without leaving any room for maneuver—that's what fools do!"

Mo Ke's rebuke echoed through the conference room.

Suddenly, chairs toppled, walls shook, and the entire illusion became unstable due to his fury.

"Father's lesson is harsh."

Mo Jin lowered his head, hands gripping his thighs to suppress any trembling. "What should we do now?"

"Your deal with Mojia has already crossed the line. But that's not the worst part—the real danger is hesitating after crossing it, fearing the consequences!"

Mo Ke's voice boomed like a bell, each word striking deep.

"Since we've dragged Huangshi Group into this, we can't let them surface easily. They're watching from the sidelines now because three Mojia aren't enough to move them. So offer them a condition they can't refuse!"

Mo Jin's pupils dilated, and he instinctively swallowed, horrified. "Father, you mean... complete Mojia with Ming ghosts? Those are the spirits of Mojia!"

"Since you've chosen to break the rules, do it cleanly and thoroughly! Only then can you redefine the rules after winning!"

Mo Ke waved his hand. "Tell those Wa people—if they resolve this matter, they get three complete Mojia."

"But one of them must come from you. Consider this your punishment."

The Huangliang Dreamscape ended, and Mo Jin's vision returned to the vehicle. He stared blankly ahead.

"Jin Ge, what did the old master say in the dream?"

A clear voice sounded. Mo Jin instinctively turned his head.

At the driver's seat, an exoskeleton armor was intently steering the wheel.

Mo Jin remained silent for a long time, not speaking, his fists clenched, his fingers digging into his palms.
