Chapter 347: Dream Infiltration (1)
Chapter 347: Dream Realm Infiltration (Part 1)
“Yellow Liang dream realm link activated, target Sun Qian Yuan.”
“Link complete, guide entering.”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
When Zou Si Jiu opened his eyes, the first thing that struck his vision was a dense rain of arrows like flying locusts!
Arrows tore through the air, splashing down with piercing whistles that made his scalp tingle.
“Damn it, Black Dragon Capital—can you get any more outrageous? Throwing a modern-day dao sequence into an ancient battlefield of the former Ming. If he could hand over his authority, that’d be truly supernatural!”
Zou Si Jiu cursed loudly, snatching a shield hanging by the saddle and pressing it over his head to minimize his profile.
Thud… Thud… Thud…
Arrows embedded themselves in the shield, the immense force numbing his tiger’s mouth.
The warhorse beneath him was riddled with arrows, transformed into a porcupine, letting out a mournful wail before crashing to the ground.
The inertia hurled Zou Si Jiu into the air. Still airborne, he quickly recited: “Yin-Yang fangshi, Yellow Liang master. I am Zou Si Jiu, by the name of Yin-Yang Six Food Dream Boqi, borrowing authority, opening the backdoor!”
“Simulation, Wu sequence Li Jun!”
The words had barely fallen when the embarrassment and panic in Zou Si Jiu’s brows vanished instantly, replaced by a fierce blaze of rogue intent.
The moment he landed, he rolled to the ground, dodging a vicious long saber aimed at his head, then slashed the charging warhorse’s limbs clean off.
A Wojun soldier in body armor fell from his horse, sprawled in a mess of seven meats and eight vegetables. Before he could regain his senses, Zou Si Jiu plunged a blade into his chest.
Pfft!
Zou Si Jiu twisted his wrist to wrench the knife free, gouging out a fist-sized cavity of flesh and blood!
He wiped the blood from his face and looked around.
Before him lay a modest cold weapon battlefield, dozens of soldiers locked in brutal combat.
In the grimy snow streaked with black and red, a massive Ming dragon flag fluttered in the wind, its base leaning against a lacquered yellow box. Several Ming troops stood guard on either side, fighting desperately against the Wojun soldiers attempting to seize the box.
Zou Si Jiu’s gaze locked onto one figure—his face was unmistakably familiar.
It was the master of this dream realm, the target of his infiltration: Dao sequence Sun Qian Yuan!
“Found you.”
Before Zou Si Jiu could relax, another gust of malice struck from above.
A Wojun general in more resplendent armor charged on horseback, swinging a spear that gleamed coldly as it aimed straight for his heart!
Clang!
The spear, dominant in mounted combat, was effortlessly parried by Zou Si Jiu, sending both rider and horse sprawling.
“Li’s template is formidable—this physique, this reflex.”
Zou Si Jiu’s eyes sparkled, clicking his tongue in admiration.
That last strike had been purely instinctual, requiring no effort to cleave through man and steed alike.
The Wojun general flipped upright, his helmet flying off to reveal a bald head, his hair knot caked with blood and grime, congealed into a short, thick black baton.
He roared in fury, his shaking hands thrusting the spear at Zou Si Jiu.
Yet before the “possessed” Zou Si Jiu, his clumsy technique was laughable.
Clang!
A straight blade severed him, and the general convulsed as if struck by lightning, his hands tearing at his own wrists before the spear clanged to the ground.
The surrounding Wojun soldiers screamed to rescue their leader, but it was too late.
Blood erupted in arcs.
“Gurgle… Gurgle…”
The general clutched his neck, but no amount of strength could stop the gushing bloodlines. His features twisted grotesquely, lips quivering soundlessly as he sank to his knees and collapsed.
Zou Si Jiu strode forward, seizing the general’s hair baton and pressing it against his blade to saw through it!
“Those who wish to die, come closer. Those who don’t, flee!”
Grabbing a bloodied, unrecognizable head, Zou Si Jiu glared at the Wojun soldiers encircling him, barking orders.
These Wojun troops exchanged glances, their courage shattered by the Ming warrior’s ferocity. Their own leader, so valiant, had been slain in two strokes—unthinkable.
Yet fleeing now meant abandoning the corpse, and returning empty-handed would bring no mercy.
“These Ming men have ambushes—retreat!”
As the standoff froze, a mustachioed Wojun veteran suddenly bellowed and turned to flee.
The others followed suit, scattering cleanly within moments.
Zou Si Jiu didn’t pursue total annihilation—these men were but fleeting thoughts of the “dream master,” their deaths meaningless.
Beneath the standing dragon flag, corpses lay scattered like mountains.
Yet fortunately, Sun Qian Yuan, though pale and wan, still lived.
This ambushed Ming force now numbered only two.
“So many died, leaving just two. Such deliberate arrangement—wouldn’t Sun Qian Yuan suspect something? Black Dragon Capital’s incompetence is staggering!”
A faint unease crept into Zou Si Jiu’s heart as he approached the collapsed Sun Qian Yuan, gripping his shoulder.
“Can you stand?”
Sun Qian Yuan leaned against Zou Si Jiu, managing a strained smile on his bloodstained face. “Still got one breath left. Lucky the Daoist priest arrived in time, or these little Wojun thieves would’ve stolen everything.”
The hostility wasn’t strong.
It seemed Black Dragon Capital’s prior “guides” had failed, but they’d weakened his willpower.
The first contact was a success, steadying Zou Si Jiu’s mind.
Just as he prepared to speak further, Sun Qian Yuan asked hesitantly: “But Daoist priest, this place is still a distance from Si Ming Mountain. How did you appear here?”
Si Ming Mountain—a dao sequence’s celestial haven in Zhejiang Province.
Zou Si Jiu’s thoughts churned; his downcast eyes swept over his attire.
Beneath the blood-stained paper armor, he wore a black daoist robe—only a daoist would don such garb!
“Daoist priest?”
Sun Qian Yuan stared at the silent Zou Si Jiu, slowly reaching for the dagger at his waist.
“Oh.”
Already guessing the dream’s setup, Zou Si Jiu feigned sudden realization. “The immortals on Si Ming Mountain foresaw your ambush, so they sent this beggar to rescue you.”
“Ah, so that’s how it is. The mountain’s immortals truly are brilliant—predicting even the Wojun’s traps.”
Sun Qian Yuan’s tense expression relaxed, forcing out a flattering remark before promptly fainting in Zou Si Jiu’s arms.
Even in dreams, he flatters himself. Truly a relic of the old dao sequence.
Zou Si Jiu pressed his lips together in mild exasperation, casting a sidelong glance around, his gaze falling upon the bright yellow box on the ground, its lid crossed with two sealed tags.
"Ah, it hurts."
A low, pained murmur escaped Sun Qian Yuan’s lips as his tightly shut eyes slowly cracked open a sliver.
"Awake?"
The sudden voice jolted Sun Qian Yuan into startled wakefulness; his eyes widened abruptly, and his hands instinctively formed a sword-finger gesture between his brows, yet no stir followed—his entire body froze in place.
Crackling!
Orange-red flames licked the slightly damp branches, emitting a crisp, splintering sound.
Sun Qian Yuan regained his composure, noticing Zou Si Jiu’s furrowed brow, and immediately lowered his hands, a sheepish smile creeping across his face.
"I’ve long admired cultivators like you, Senior Daoist, which is why I’ve recklessly mimicked these gestures. Please don’t take offense."
"Not at all. One so devoted to the Dao is rare these days."
Zou Si Jiu sat cross-legged beside the fire, his smile warm, yet his eyes concealed a trace of gravity.
No wonder Black Dragon Capital couldn’t strip him of his permissions—this Dao sequence has even locked down all his own Dao methods.
If I couldn’t open the ‘back door,’ wouldn’t I have had to rely on my own wits and engage in a knife fight within this dreamscape?
This risk is a mite too perilous!
Do not trespass into another’s dream realm; the ancients spoke truly.
