Chapter 419: Numerical Monster, Infinite Corridor

"Bang!"

He kicked off the ground, sprinting not upon the earth, but across the void itself. To Wang Yu, every point in the surrounding space had become a traversable path; he could tread upon the very air wherever he pleased.

Before the heavy-armored legendary knight could arrive, the assault from Doron Charlemagne struck first. The throne beneath him granted him formidable wizardry, bestowing upon him the spellcasting prowess of an Archmage while his own physical form remained at the legendary tier.

Space fractured into deep, obsidian fissures, within which one could faintly discern a multitude of narrow, grotesque eyes blinking open and shut. These slender cracks followed Wang Yu’s every step, appearing in swarms to cut off his retreat while simultaneously predicting and sealing the path ahead.

"Zzzzt!"

There was no audible sound, only a vibration. Wang Yu offered but one reaction: he raised his hands. His body, both inside and out, was cloaked in void energy driven by the power of the chariot; these fissures, with their immense cutting and destructive force, were utterly meaningless to him.

He grabbed a fissure with his bare hand, tore it in two, raised his arm into a defensive posture, and lunged forward, accelerating instantly to shatter every crack blocking his path with his own physical momentum.

The heavy-armored knight had reached him by now. The silver-hued, one-handed piercing hammer in his grip shimmered with a faint light, vibrating at a terrifying frequency despite its minute amplitude. He swung this legendary weapon, known as "Silver Dawn," toward Wang Yu.

"Bang!"

The legendary weapon, descending from above, missed its mark. It struck the ground instead, and in an instant, the high-frequency shockwaves channeled within it pulverized the surrounding earth. Under the sheer force of the hammer’s impact, the ground exploded into a cloud of dust, leaving behind a massive crater.

If the "Earth-Vein Greatsword" was designed to release explosive energy, then "Silver Dawn" was meant to drive high-frequency forced oscillations into an enemy’s body. Against rigid objects like bone, the properties of "Silver Dawn" could reduce them to powder—which explained why the rocky ground had instantly turned to dust.

Yet, the most powerful weapon is useless if it cannot hit its target. Wang Yu’s true speed far exceeded the expectations of every enemy present; he had likely not even used thirty percent of his speed during his initial charge.

The moment the hammer fell, Wang Yu took sixteen steps in mid-air, his figure blurring as he appeared behind the heavy-armored legendary knight.

"Swish!"

He raised his right leg and brought it down in a fierce cleaving motion. Though it was merely a limb sweeping through the air, it produced the sharp, piercing whistle of a blade.

As "Silver Dawn" swung into empty space, Wang Yu’s leg strike landed simultaneously on the knight’s head. The thunderous boom of the impact and the sound of the ground being struck merged into one, preventing a second echo.

The sturdy helmet twisted and deformed. Under the force of a kick that generated a visible shockwave, the legendary knight was driven into the earth without a shred of resistance, his head embedding first, followed by his entire body being slammed into the crater he had just created.

"Boom!"

"Crack!"

The roar of the impact was accompanied by a distinct, audible snap. The multi-layered magic-steel structure of the heavy armor had indeed protected his skull from Wang Yu’s exaggerated strength, but it could not save his neck. Amidst the spray of rock fragments, the knight lay with his spine shattered by the kick.

"Clang!"

Wang Yu pulled his Broken Meteorite Blade behind him, just in time to parry a dagger thrust by the light-armored legendary knight—or rather, the legendary ranger. The dagger was bizarre; despite its seemingly solid material, it appeared to be fashioned from flesh and blood, with a bloodshot eye staring from the center of the blade.

The moment the attack was blocked, the eye on the dagger locked onto Wang Yu’s gaze. A violent mental shock erupted from within, manifesting as a psychic blade aimed at the center of his brow.

The legendary weapon "Eye of Despair" was a masterpiece of flesh-crafting, forged from the living body of a desperate low-tier legendary mage, whose psychic power served as the dagger’s ultimate strike.

The sudden psychic burst was enough to wound almost any legendary powerhouse, and on the battlefield, a momentary lapse meant a high probability of death.

Unfortunately, he faced Wang Yu. This powerful dagger meant nothing to a being whose very possession of a soul was uncertain. Wang Yu spun, flicked his wrist, and brought the index and middle fingers of his free hand together, striking at the ranger’s throat.

The speed was absurd. Although the legendary ranger usually focused on assassination and protecting the king, rarely engaging in head-on combat, that did not mean his speed was lacking. Yet, the velocity unleashed by Wang Yu—a monster of raw statistics—left the ranger with no chance to react.

The finger strike, imbued with immense force, hit the ranger’s neck. Though it was merely a finger-sword, bolstered by Wang Yu’s monstrous physical strength, it was no different from a strike with the Broken Meteorite Blade against the ranger’s far weaker physique. The force penetrated the body, ensuring the neck would shatter.

"Hum!"

A low, humming sound resonated. The moment the attack landed, the "blurring" sensation Wang Yu had sensed earlier reached its peak. The ranger’s body entered a state of "uncertainty," then flashed backward, reverting to his state from several moments prior.

The innate skill "Undetermined State": the body would enter a "blurred" state after a certain interval. Once struck by an attack capable of causing severe damage, this state would negate the blow and revert the ranger to his previous condition.

After reaching the legendary tier, the cooldown for this skill was only five seconds, granting him numerous chances for trial and error in battle.

"Bang!"

The finger strike missed, but Wang Yu’s momentum did not falter. He stepped forward, chasing the retreating ranger with terrifying speed, and hurled the Broken Meteorite Blade, aiming it straight at the ranger’s chest.

"Clang! Squelch!"

Wang Yu’s physical prowess crushed the ranger’s. The thrown blade was parried by the dagger, but the sheer force behind it could not be easily dissipated.

The legendary ranger exerted every ounce of strength to deflect the blade, but it still grazed his flank, leaving a gruesome gash.

The next moment, Wang Yu was already before him. His fist, fully charged, smashed down toward the ranger’s head without hesitation.

The air torn by the falling fist emitted a deafening roar. Wang Yu’s pressure was unimaginable; he was nothing more than speed, strength, and defense, but when those numbers were high enough, he was absurdly powerful.

Had this punch landed, the ranger would have owed Wang Yu several lives. Only 0.5 seconds had passed since the "Undetermined State" had been triggered; a hit now would have been a clean, devastating obliteration.

"Slap!"

A hand, accompanied by a ripple of void energy, suddenly emerged from behind and wrapped around Wang Yu’s waist, stalling his charge just enough to give the ranger a chance to dodge the lethal blow.

Doron Charlemagne, his expression grim, watched the battlefield. It was he who had used void power to open a spatial rift, transporting the heavy-armored knight—whom Wang Yu had just kicked into the ground—behind Wang Yu to restrict his movements.

Wang Yu’s power was too exaggerated. Even with his legendary constitution, Doron found it difficult to track Wang Yu’s movements; he could only manage a counter-measure when Wang Yu committed to an action like a punch.

"Urrgh!"

The heavy-armored knight, straining his arms to bind Wang Yu, let out a desperate roar. He knew that to restrain this man, he had to push his strength beyond its limits—not just to save the ranger, but to create an opening for his two companions.

"..."

Wang Yu remained silent. He had already figured out the innate skill of the man whose neck he had shattered earlier: rapid self-regeneration.

"Vigorous Recovery," an innate skill evolved from basic healing to the legendary tier. In a sense, it was similar to Wang Yu’s. As long as the knight wasn't destroyed in one go, he could recover within a limited time.

Thus, only he could restrain Wang Yu; if anyone else were hit by Wang Yu’s lethal strike, it would be the end. At least he...

"Squelch!"

Wang Yu’s sudden burst of power exceeded the trio’s expectations. His battle aura climbed to its limit, his physical output peaking. He grabbed one of the knight’s arms and tore it off, armor and all.

The loss of an arm rendered the restraint useless. Wang Yu spun coldly, grabbed the knight’s other arm, swung him around, and slammed him down onto the legendary ranger, who was charging forward.

"Boom!"

The heavy-armored knight, encased in sturdy steel, proved to be a decent weapon. Blood sprayed from his severed limb, and the ranger, unable to dodge, was pinned to the ground by the knight’s body.

The brutal force crushed the ranger’s relatively fragile physique, turning him into a smear of flesh between the ground and the knight’s armor.

The "Undetermined State" did not trigger.

Only 1.5 seconds had passed since its last activation. Five seconds—it was still too long...

"Pfft!"

How could the knight, used as a weapon to crush the ranger, fare any better? The agony wracking his body forced a spray of blood from his lips, and Wang Yu’s next strike was already upon him.

The Broken Meteorite Blade pierced through the heavy armor and straight into the knight’s heart. Wang Yu didn't bother with him further, turning his gaze toward the now-hysterical Doron Charlemagne.

"Cough, urgh, ahhhhh!"

"You... damn... monster..."

Doron’s curses and the knight’s agonizing wails rang out simultaneously, the two seemingly confirming one another.

The legendary knight was slowly drifting toward death. His innate skill could not save him. His cause of death was not the pierced heart—for his skill, a punctured heart was a minor wound; unlike Wang Yu, even a shattered skull could be healed.

Though Wang Yu was formidable, he lacked the capacity to obliterate a man and his armor in a single stroke; in his Chariot-force Void Engine state, he remained deficient in wide-range lethality, so he simply poured his own blood into the wounds of the legendary heavy knight.

The latent power known as "Vigorous Resurgence" was entirely consumed in a struggle against the blood rampaging through the knight’s body, leaving no strength to mend the severed arm or the pierced heart.

As the heart ceased its rhythm, the shattered meteorite-iron blade remained embedded, ensuring this foe—who should have been as unkillable as a cockroach—would perish on his own, leaving only the final target: the King of Alestler, Doren Charlemagne.

"Whoosh!"

With a stamp of his foot, he charged, his speed climbing to its zenith; the barrage of sorcerous attacks Doren Charlemagne unleashed were ignored, the streams of destructive energy parried by a single hand, the summoned void creatures shattered by a shoulder-check, and the spatial traps bypassed in less than a tenth of a second by his blurring pace.

Against the tide of void energy, Wang Yu surged forward like a phantom, and before Doren Charlemagne could muster more power, Wang Yu was already perched upon the barrier that encased the throne and its surrounding domain.

Meeting Wang Yu’s indifferent gaze through the barrier, Doren Charlemagne shuddered; when had this unknown man grown to such terrifying heights? It seemed impossible to kill him today.

"Wang Yu, I have already said that as long as I sit upon this throne, then the master of this kingdom shall be none but I! This is the foundation of Alestler!"

Having lost his royal confidants and all his legendary warriors, with perhaps only the palace guard who had fled early remaining, Doren Charlemagne spoke with a fierce, hollow bravado, still confident that his throne remained impenetrable.

"Crack, crack, crack!"

Yet, nothing went as he had anticipated; a right hand wreathed in golden light forced its way into the barrier, the light dissipated, and Wang Yu’s hand pierced through, the Chariot-force boiling.

He pried the fissure open, and the barrier, which should have been indestructible, was torn asunder.

Under Doren Charlemagne’s horrified gaze, Wang Yu leaped inside and drove a fist toward his head.

"Alas, we were never meant to be enemies..."

But the moment he entered the throne’s sphere of influence, a familiar sigh echoed in Wang Yu’s ears—it was the Grand Astrologer, Serene.

The words were cryptic, yet Wang Yu felt the environment shift; magic power erupted and surged, as if anticipating his every move, and the moment he crossed the threshold, the surroundings were already saturated with activated spells.

Spatial fluctuations synchronized, making it appear as though Wang Yu had cast himself into a trap.

"I've been played..."

He murmured to himself, and as the chaotic surroundings fully manifested, Wang Yu found himself within a most peculiar space, known as the "Infinite Corridor."
