Chapter 129: Daoist Bu Yu Escapes Trouble

Luo Hongxia departed in a great rush.

Originally, she had intended to seize the opportunity of the assembly to demand an explanation from the Dao Seeking Sect, aiming at the very least to extract a promise that they would not approach Lanting.

As things stood now, let alone a promise, a single moment's delay would have seen her young disciple entirely ensnared within.

Enveloped within a cloud of rosy mist, Lanting grumbled, "Master, I already told you I was perfectly fine, yet you insisted on dragging me to the Dao Seeking Sect. If Lu Yang finds out, whatever will he think of me?"

"The moment you returned, you threw all your focus into researching an automatic kebab-roasting formation, attempting to transform into someone else's likeness by practicing pictographic boxing, and you still claim you are perfectly fine?"

"Your master warned you long ago to keep your distance from the people of the Dao Seeking Sect. This is a lesson bought with bitter experience!"

"Think back to when your master went down the mountain for trials and encountered a disciple of the Dao Seeking Sect. The two of us joined forces to exorcise a ghost, and upon reaching our destination, we stayed at an inn for a few days. That ghost was audaciously bold, daring to hide beneath that disciple's bed, staying hidden there for three whole days."

"In the end, that man discovered the anomaly, dragged the ghost out from under the bed, and demanded that the spirit split the room charges for those three days evenly."

"Could this possibly be the train of thought belonging to a normal human being?"

"Who was this person?" Lanting inquired.

"The Sect Master of the Dao Seeking Sect, Daoist Buyu."

Luo Hongxia let out a cold sneer and continued, "There was another occasion when the two of us encountered a dismemberment case. Over a dozen children had met with tragic deaths, their corpses mutilated, severed limbs and shattered bones littering the ground. Only a single, dull-faced little girl survived, and the two of us watched over her to ensure her safety."

"After a short while, the authorities arrived, stating that once they pieced the corpses back together, they discovered a portion was missing from each body, and the missing parts happened to perfectly assemble into a little girl."

"At that moment, I felt a chilling breath rush straight to the crown of my head. Just then, the little girl let out a sinister smile and a creepy laugh, exceptionally blood-curdling. Daoist Buyu simply rapped her on the head, telling her to stop laughing because she could see we were discussing business."

"The little girl was utterly stupefied by the knock."

Lanting was left speechless.

Out of concern for his master, Lu Yang returned once more to the pine forest of Tianmen Peak, only to behold Daoist Buyu bound in a highly distinctive fashion.

"Is performance art currently the fashion in our Dao Seeking Sect?" Lu Yang wondered in bewilderment.

Daoist Buyu writhed violently with massive contortions, muffled sounds escaping his mouth as if crying out for rescue.

Lu Yang peeled the yellow paper talisman from his forehead. Daoist Buyu's magical power flooded back, and loosening the ropes and spitting out the sock, he successfully broke free.

Daoist Buyu's eyes welled with tears of gratitude, "Good brother, from now on we shall each have our own terms of address—you call me master, and I shall call you master!"

Lu Yang felt it might be better to bind his master up again.

Daoist Buyu stepped out of the cave dwelling, spreading his arms wide to face the sunlight, embracing mother nature, "Ten years! I am finally out!"

Then he paused to reflect, feeling the atmosphere was not quite grand enough, so he summoned clouds and commanded rain, causing a small downpour to fall directly over his head.

The torrential rain fell, and Daoist Buyu was soon drenched like a drowned rat. Spreading his arms once more, he embraced freedom, "Ah ah ah ah! Ten years! I am finally out!"

Perfect.

Having achieved his desired dramatic effect, Daoist Buyu dispersed the rain clouds, turned his head, and said to Lu Yang, "I intend to go down the mountain to perform storytelling. Would you care to accompany me?"

Daoist Buyu had not forgotten his assignment.

Lu Yang felt a twinge of temptation, yet he shook his head, "No, my identity is far too sensitive. If the people of the Immortal Cult recognize me, it will be disastrous."

Daoist Buyu burst into hearty laughter, "What is so difficult about that?"

Daoist Buyu brushed his hand across Lu Yang's face, causing a subtle shift in his features until he looked entirely different from before.

"Is it not just a matter of being recognized by enemies after doing bad deeds? I understand completely; I have vast experience in this area. Rest assured, no one in the Integration Stage can see through my disguise!"

Lu Yang did not particularly care to know the origin of Daoist Buyu's experience, but with this, he could indeed venture outside with peace of mind.

"I would also like to invite a friend along, if I may?"

"Of course you may."

Lu Yang called upon Meng Jingzhou, who was currently throwing punches and shouting to exercise his body.

"Going out to have fun?"

"Is it safe?"

"An absolute powerhouse is leading us, guaranteed safety."

"Let us go."

Following this brief exchange of questions and answers, Meng Jingzhou prepared to set out with Lu Yang, without even asking where they were going or what they would be doing.

Could one ever lack for entertainment when following Lu Yang?

"Who is this person?" Meng Jingzhou asked in a whisper, not recognizing Daoist Buyu.

"My master, Daoist Buyu," Lu Yang introduced with pride.

Daoist Buyu recognized Meng Jingzhou and stroked his white beard with a benevolent air, "Young man of the Meng family, I heard your old man speak of you. I even went to drink wine at your full-month banquet."

"You know my grandfather?" Meng Jingzhou was somewhat surprised, having never heard his grandfather mention this.

Daoist Buyu was amused by the question, "Your grandfather and I have known each other for over a thousand years."

After Meng Jingzhou's appearance was altered by Daoist Buyu using the same method, he asked, "How shall we depart? I possess a carriage."

Lu Yang waved his hand in refusal, "No need for that. I have newly mastered a flying sword technique, allowing me to soar upon a sword."

"But only one person can stand upon a single sword, so what are the two of us to do?" Meng Jingzhou raised an eyebrow.

With an air of showing off, Lu Yang produced a strangely shaped flying car from his identity jade plaque, "You may treat this as a scabbard, though it is a bit on the larger side."

"When I operate the flying sword technique, the flying car can ascend into the sky, capable of carrying five people in total!"

Meng Jingzhou circled the flying car twice, tapping the bodywork to hear a resonant echo of solid quality, his eyes gleaming, "Splendid stuff! Did you invent this?"

"Naturally."

Daoist Buyu also nodded repeatedly in approval; this young disciple of his truly possessed extraordinary attainments in the way of the sword, and would surely not pale in comparison to him in the future!

With a heart full of excitement, Lu Yang took the helm of the flying car, while Meng Jingzhou sat in the passenger seat and Daoist Buyu occupied the rear. As the three of them fastened their seatbelts, a novel sensation washed over them all.

"Takeoff!"

The Green Peak Sword let out a resonant hum, and the flying car soared into the sky, weaving through the clouds.

"Master, which direction?"

Daoist Buyu pointed straight ahead, "To the south. The south is prosperous with many transportation arteries, perfect for your master to perform storytelling!"

The flying car journeyed southward, and whenever they chanced upon a flying vessel, the passengers aboard would stare in utter amazement at the existence of the flying car.

Daoist Buyu tapped the rear seat, and an invisible, shuttle-shaped barrier expanded to reduce air resistance, while he simultaneously executed his own flying sword technique to assist the car's flight.

Sensing his master's assistance, Lu Yang's confidence surged, and the speed of the flying car accelerated to another level.

With his master holding the fort, it was bound to be exceptionally safe!

When Yun Zhi went to check on her master's condition, the cave dwelling was already completely empty, leaving behind only a golden rope, a yellow paper talisman, and a sock of unknown ownership.

Returning to her own cave dwelling, she found a small note left by Lu Yang at the entrance:

Master and I have gone traveling outside for a period of time, do not worry about me.

Yun Zhi grew even more worried.

Her master... could not tell north, south, east, or west apart.

Somewhere in the skies above a small town in the west, the flying car malfunctioned and plunged straight down.
