Chapter 420: Meng Jingzhou's Love Luck

Below the stage, Lu Yang laughed so hard he bent double, tears streaming down his face.

Zhao Po wanted to laugh too, but felt it unseemly to mock Meng Jingzhou, so he could only force himself to hold it in.

Meng Jingzhou’s face darkened; they had gone so far as to repeal their ancestral teachings, so what else could he possibly say?

With the ancestral teachings abolished, the old constraints dissolved; Qing Luo suddenly felt the world broaden before her, and she immediately dismantled the arena to head back home.

Meng Jingzhou leapt down from the stage, glaring fiercely at the still-laughing Lu Yang and the visibly amused Zhao Po.

The three men, one corpse, and one horse entered the city; perhaps because Meng Jingzhou’s romantic luck had been suppressed for too long, it now erupted all at once, utterly unstoppable.

First, they encountered a young woman selling herself to bury her father; though clad in hemp and mourning weeds, her comeliness was undeniable, and she claimed she would willingly sell herself as a servant or concubine just to lay her father to rest. Seeing Meng Jingzhou, she timidly called out "Young Master," sending a tickle of longing through his heart.

Though this woman possessed no cultivation at present and had missed the golden age for training, the Immortal Fairy discerned her unique nature at a single glance.

"How interesting; this little girl selling herself possesses the exceedingly rare Reality-Piercing Dao Body. She looks frail now, but that is actually the Dao Body conserving its strength; in another six months to a year, the Dao Body will fully awaken, and she will soar to the heavens, quickly catching up to the cultivation speed of her peers.

"If some old fellow with a keen eye were to see her, take her as a disciple, and carry her away for a few years, her achievements would be even greater."

There were Nine Great Immortal Bodies in the world, such as Tao Tianye's Feathered Immortal Body and the Sixth Elder's Flawless Immortal Body.

Beneath the Nine Great Immortal Bodies lay the widely known Thirty-Six Dao Bodies; though their potential fell short of the Immortal Bodies, they still qualified one as a chosen prodigy, granting a place in the future struggles of the great era to serve as the capable right-hand generals of geniuses like Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou!

Meng Jingzhou knew nothing of the girl's background or constitution; he simply found her pitiful and pretty, so he dug out some money to buy her.

And then he was swindled.

The little girl took the spirit stones, claiming she was going to bury her father, and never returned.

The trio went to report the crime, but the authorities said the girl was a habitual offender; they would open a case, but told them not to hope for much, as she was slippery to catch.

"Little beauty, just yield to this young master, and I shall grant you endless wealth and splendor!" a wretched laugh echoed, instantly branding the speaker a villain.

Meng Jingzhou grew excited; he was familiar with this plot, as Lu Yang had bragged about it to him before, leaving him envious for a long time.

"Halt! How dare you accost a virtuous woman before me!" Meng Jingzhou stood righteously at the very front, stepping forward to intervene.

After beating up the wicked young master's entire family, their ancestor even came out weeping to complain of their grievances, vowing never to offend again.

The little beauty wept with gratitude toward Meng Jingzhou: "In my next life, this servant will surely act as an ox or horse to repay your great kindness, Benefactor!"

Whereupon she fled at top speed, not wishing to spend another moment with Meng Jingzhou.

Just as the three were about to check into an inn, they overheard an argument nearby.

"Lü'er, do you still not know my heart? I truly love you! Why do you constantly refuse my affection? Is there something I am doing wrong?" A richly dressed, gloomy-faced young master pulled at a woman in pale green clothes, badgering her relentlessly.

The woman named Lü'er could no longer endure the gloomy youth's pursuit; seeing the extraordinary bearing of Meng Jingzhou and his companions, her eyes lit up.

"I truly cannot accept your love, for I already have someone I like!"

The gloomy young master clearly disbelieved her, shaking his head: "Lü'er, stop lying to me, I don't believe it."

Meng Jingzhou knew his romantic luck had arrived, but she pointed at Meng Jingzhou and said, "It is him! The one I like is him; we have already pledged our lives to each other in secret!"

Meng Jingzhou thought to himself that his romantic fortune had finally come, even sending a voice transmission to the other two to flaunt his luck.

Lu Yang urged Meng Jingzhou not to act blindly, analyzing the situation for him.

"That gloomy young master is clearly a ruthless character, likely a local tyrant, and obviously trouble; he wants Lü'er for himself, but she dislikes his sort, so she found a shield."

"You certainly do not fear such a local tyrant, but Lü'er does not know that."

"You are total strangers to her; she doesn't know your identity, how strong you are, or if your background can match his. To block his pursuit, she pushed you to the front to bear the brunt of the pressure.

"Under such circumstances, do you really think Lü'er likes you?"

The trio stayed at the inn; that very night, a woman clad in night-traveling attire crashed through Meng Jingzhou’s window. She was masked, revealing only cat-like eyes that gleamed like emeralds.

The woman’s eyes were filled with desire and she panted heavily, looking as though she had been poisoned and needed masculine vital energy to neutralize it, lest she risk exploding and dying.

Only she and Meng Jingzhou were in the room, so only one solution remained.

The woman cast a look of disgust at Meng Jingzhou, then proceeded to pull an antidote pill from her storage ring, swallowed it to marvelous effect, and floated away.

In her line of work, she naturally prepared thoroughly before going out on missions.

Throughout the entire process, Meng Jingzhou never even got the chance to speak.

After resting for the night, the three prepared to set out; just as they checked out and left the inn, they encountered a moderately wealthy young lady who specifically approached Meng Jingzhou for help, looking as if she had found a savior.

"Hello, excuse me, are you from out of town?"

"Yes."

The young lady breathed a sigh of relief: "Splendid, then Mother won't recognize you. It's like this: my mother has been forcing me into marriage, but I don't want to wed, so I made up a lie telling her I found a boyfriend. I used to stall her, but today I can't stall any longer; she insists on meeting my boyfriend. Will you pretend to be him? I will pay you!"

Meng Jingzhou gladly agreed.

"What's going on?" Zhao Po asked in surprise.

"Who knows," Lu Yang shrugged, not paying it much mind.

The process of meeting the parent went extraordinarily well; Meng Jingzhou displayed his family background, character, cultivation, and sect, making him the ultimate candidate for a husband. Yet the young lady’s mother stubbornly refused to agree, finding him displeasing no matter how she looked at him, and finally kicked him out, warning her daughter never to associate with him again.

Afterward, the young lady secretly found Meng Jingzhou to explain: "I am so sorry. The moment I saw you, I found you rather annoying, and my mother is a lot like me, so she probably felt the same way. She was bound to disapprove of you as my boyfriend, and this way, she won't urge me to marry anymore."

"Here is the promised reward. Let us never meet again."

Meng Jingzhou: "..."

Damn it, this broken curse was hardly any better than the last one!

Along the way, Meng Jingzhou's romantic encounters continued without pause; by the end of the journey, his romantic luck was finally exhausted, and the three successfully arrived at the Corpse-Driving Sect.
