October 19th, heavy rain

Two weeks had slipped away since the will of that other world first sought me out, a fortnight during which the Doctor stepped forward to maintain a fragile order in my stead, turning away emissaries from various disparate sanctuaries who had arrived bearing offers of alliance.

It seemed my own sanctuary had attained a formidable renown among all the enclaves, whispered of primarily for my legion of the undead—a ghastly vanguard that ensured no rogue zombie would ever breach our borders.

Acting upon my silent dictates, the Doctor politely but firmly declined their overtures.

Yet even now, I remained adrift in uncertainty, blind to which faction I truly belonged—was I a creature of the ravenous dead, or a champion of living humanity?

The catalyst that had plunged me into a profound coma two weeks prior was indeed the will of another celestial body, an entity claiming to be the authentic, primordial spirit of this very world, declaring that the voice which had previously enticed me belonged to an alien invader—the sovereign consciousness of the Zombie Star.

According to this self-proclaimed spirit of Earth, our world had already fallen victim to a cosmic encroachment, the mastermind behind the devastation being none other than the parasitic mind of that dead star.

The Zombie Star achieved its evolution by ruthlessly devouring the lifeblood of other realms; having entirely depleted the resources of their previous celestial prey, their insatiable gaze had fallen upon Earth, the nearest beacon of life.

The denizens of the Zombie Star possessed no physical forms of their own, propagating instead through a virulent plague, binding their ethereal malice to the flesh of others.

I, by some twisted stroke of fate, was the very first soul on Earth to be infected, proving myself a singular anomaly; though riddled with the virus, I was never possessed, maintaining my sovereign will, entirely unbound by any cosmic dominion.

It was for this reason that the consciousness of the Zombie Star had reached out to me, seeking to entice me into its fold.

And for that identical reason, the true spirit of Earth now sought to claim my allegiance as well.

As of this moment, I possessed no means to discern truth from falsehood in the testaments of these two cosmic entities; one of them was undeniably weaving a web of deceit, or perhaps, both were lying to me.

Should I commit to a mistaken path, the entirety of this world would plunge into irreversible ruin.

I required a single day of absolute solitude to think.
