Chapter 825: Eldest Young Master Meng Returns Home
Lu Yang hesitated, wanting to say that the imperial robe looked quite strange.
"Aunt Fairy, are you certain that you have embroidered yourself and the Eldest Senior Sister upon it?" Lu Yang stared at the imperial robe, completely unable to discern who the two figures were meant to be.
"Of course. Look, aren't their names written right here?" The Immortal Fairy looked down, pointing to two distinct spots on the garment.
Lu Yang thought to himself that it was a profound mercy she had written their names; otherwise, even if she claimed the embroidery depicted himself and Old Meng, he would have believed her.
"Little Yangzi, did you not say it yourself? The imperial robe has always been embroidered with the images of the strongest. If we speak of who reigns supreme in the current world of cultivation, it is naturally myself and little girl Yun!" The Immortal Fairy puffed out her chest, her voice and expression brimming with absolute pride.
"Why must you call me Little Yangzi?"
The Immortal Fairy looked entirely bewildered. "Is there some sort of problem with that? I heard that emperors always address the people by their side in such a manner."
Lu Yang was at a loss for words.
Forget it, he reasoned, there was no need to explain such complicated matters to a fairy.
"Then, how about I slightly alter the embroidery of you and Eldest Senior Sister?" Lu Yang could hardly bear to look at the two figures on the robe.
"Very well," the Immortal Fairy agreed instantly, slipping off the imperial robe and tossing it to Lu Yang. Barefooted, she began to scamper in joyful circles around the great hall.
With a mere thought, Lu Yang conjured golden silk and silver threads, threading his needle with ease. Soon, the exquisite and breathtaking countenance of the Immortal Fairy vividly emerged upon the imperial robe.
"Hmm, it is indeed a fraction better than this Immortal's own skill," the Immortal Fairy admitted, a rare concession of Lu Yang's superiority.
Unmoved by either praise or disgrace, Lu Yang continued his work on the Eldest Senior Sister, and before long, her likeness also graced the imperial robe.
Just as Lu Yang was preparing to offer a few more words of praise to the Immortal Fairy to solidify his position as her chief steward, a rift tore through the spiritual space, revealing none other than the Eldest Senior Sister.
Her gaze fell upon Lu Yang, who was holding the needle and thread, and then upon the imperial robe resting on his lap. Her eyelids twitched in a rare display of emotion.
"Little Junior Brother, you—"
Terribly frightened, Lu Yang bolted to his feet to distance himself from the blame. "It has nothing to do with me! The Fairy made me do it all!"
"Hey, wasn't it you who suggested embroidering myself and little girl Yun upon the robe?"
"Fairy, do not speak nonsense, I said no such thing."
Listening to her Little Junior Brother and the senior Fairy shifting the blame back and forth, Yun Zhi more or less understood the sequence of events.
"Senior Fairy, have you considered changing the style of the imperial robe?" Yun Zhi suggested kindly, tactfully hinting that this garment hardly resembled one.
"Changing the style?" The Immortal Fairy pondered for a moment, and then a sudden realization struck her.
"Are you saying that since this Immortal is the undisputed strongest person alive, only this Immortal should be embroidered upon the robe?"
Yun Zhi sighed softly. "Never mind. Let the imperial robe remain as it is."
In any case, there was no one else in the spiritual space, so the Fairy could dress however she pleased.
After Yun Zhi departed, the Immortal Fairy eagerly donned the imperial robe and twirled around happily, showing off to Little Yangzi. "How is it? How is it? Does it not look magnificent?"
Little Yangzi bowed deeply. "Your Majesty possesses natural grace and beauty; this imperial robe is merely a foil to enhance your imperial countenance."
In the past, when traveling to the Demon Realm or the Eastern Sea, they always needed to find someone who had been there to inquire about local conditions. This time, accompanied by Meng Jingzhou, a true native, Lu Yang had no need to ask around.
"It is a pity that Junior Sister Tao and the others have all gone to suppress the Heartless Sect."
Originally, Lu Yang had wanted to invite Tao Tianye and Mangu to join them on their journey to the Buddhist Kingdom. Only after inquiring did he learn that the Heartless Sect had undergone such massive upheavals. Currently, the Seeking Dao Sect had virtually no idle hands; everyone available had been conscripted to clean up the remnants of the Heartless Sect.
Li Haoran, however, had not gone out, as he was deeply engrossed in comprehending the art of artifact refinement, and it was inconvenient to disturb him.
The old horse pulled the two men along, and within a mere two days, they arrived at the Imperial City.
As the capital of Great Xia and indeed the largest metropolis in the entire cultivation world, the Imperial City was unimaginably vast. From a great distance, Lu Yang could already see several colossal dark silhouettes rising within it—those were the mountains enclosed inside the city itself.
A river several hundred Zhang wide divided the Imperial City into two halves, creating the Southern and Northern Districts
