Chapter 1009: Method of Refining the Emotion-Forgetting Pill
"Senior Zhuiyue, shouldn't we put the Great Snow Mountain back into the sword now?"
Lu Yang asked with utmost caution. To store the vast expanse of the mountain within the miniature world of the Blue Peak Sword, he required the direct intervention of Perfected Zhuiyue.
Having such a colossal snow-capped mountain hovering directly above the city of Kaihuang was certainly a spectacular sight, but it was equally terrifying.
"Is it over already?"
Perfected Zhuiyue inquired flatly, a faint trace of reluctance lingering in her voice. After all, opportunities to venture into the outside world were rare.
Discerning her underlying anxiety, Lu Yang quickly lowered his head to look at her and reassured, "If we store the Great Snow Mountain within my Blue Peak Sword, then the area surrounding me can be considered its domain. As long as you do not stray too far from me, Senior Zhuiyue, it will suffice."
"Very well, then." Perfected Zhuiyue assumed an expression of reluctant acquiescence to Lu Yang’s proposal.
"Th-this is resolved, just like that?" Throughout the entire battle, Tang Chuanwu had scarcely dared to breathe, his heart suspended in agonizing anxiety.
This was a supreme, peerless cultivator of the Tribulation Transmutation Stage. Had they truly been subdued with such effortless ease?
"It is resolved." Lu Yang stretched lazily. A fine Bathing Buddha Festival had given rise to so many unforeseen complications, but regardless, everything was finally settled.
"You have all labored greatly, benefactors." Master Duanchen hurried forward to offer his salutations.
The Daoist Master of Hanhai, Perfected Zhuiyue, Dai Bufan... every individual present possessed a background of boundless grandeur. Even if the Western Heaven Temple encountered them, they would have to receive them with the highest order of etiquette.
"Our apologies, Master Duanchen, for disrupting the Bathing Buddha Festival to such an extent," Lu Yang expressed his regrets. After successive rounds of intense combat, there was absolutely no way the festival could continue.
"No matter, no matter. It is enough that everyone is unharmed."
Though this year's festival had been forced to an abrupt halt, Master Duanchen could already envision that this battle in Kaihuang City—where two Half-Immortals had captured the Vice Sect Master of the Heartless Sect alive, with the participation of Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou—would undoubtedly become a legendary tale on everyone's lips.
And within that narrative, Kaihuang City would remain a place that could never be omitted.
With such renown, why should he fear that Kaihuang City would lack fame, or that none would visit the Kaihuang Temple?
The impact of this festival would exceed Master Duanchen's original expectations by more than tenfold.
"Master Duanchen, we shall take our leave now," Lu Yang said, clasping his hands in farewell.
"Chuanwu, are you willing to return with us to the Wendao Sect?" Lu Yang inquired. Knowing that Tang Chuanwu possessed the ability of time reversal, there was simply no way they could allow him to remain in Kaihuang City.
If he were to be discovered by other Immortals, the consequences would be catastrophic.
"Can I bring my younger sister and Que'er along?" Tang Chuanwu asked with underlying trepidation. They were the two people he cared for most, the sole reasons he had traversed through countless cycles of reincarnation.
"You may." Lu Yang understood the root of Tang Chuanwu’s anxieties.
Tang Chuanwu breathed a sigh of relief. Ever since he had acquired the ability to reverse time, this was the very first time things had proceeded so smoothly.
Fortunately, he had encountered Master Lu.
Astonished, Meng Jingzhou secretly sent a divine transmission to Lu Yang: "Old Lu, what is the deal with this kid? Why are we bringing him back to the sect?"
"It involves the Dao Fruit of an Immortal."
Meng Jingzhou became increasingly bewildered: "How have you managed to get entangled with an Immortal yet again?"
"Get lost, get lost. You speak as if I desire this myself."
"Grandmaster, Senior, what of the two of you?"
"Hold on a moment." The Daoist Master of Hanhai raised a hand to signal them. He then activated the embryonic form of his Space Dao Fruit. With a pair of miserable shrieks, two elders of the Heartless Sect tumbled out from a black hole in space, promptly imprisoned within a spatial cage of their own.
Upon witnessing the defeat of their Vice Sect Master, these two elders had fled in sheer panic, utterly unaware that they had long been marked by the Daoist Master of Hanhai. Flight had been impossible from the very beginning.
With a flick of his finger, the Daoist Master of Hanhai sent the three spatial cages into the miniature world of the Blue Peak Sword. "You all may return. I have some matters to attend to in the Eastern Sea."
Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou cast peculiar glances at the Daoist Master of Hanhai. Grandmaster, is your journey to the Eastern Sea truly a matter of official business?
"Since the snow mountain is within your sword, I shall follow you." Perfected Zhuiyue stopped just short of declaring outright that she wished to spend more time in the mortal realm.
"Can we not request Grandmaster to teleport us back?" Meng Jingzhou asked softly, noting how convenient it would be.
Lu Yang rolled his eyes at him. "Do you wish for the two of us to possess a record of leaving the country but absolutely no record of returning?"
Lu Yang and his companions located Tang Qiaoqiao and Cui Que'er respectively. Tang Qiaoqiao's situation was straightforward; the siblings depended on one another for survival, so wherever Tang Chuanwu went, she would follow.
On the other hand, when Philanthropist Cui heard that his daughter was to depart for the Great Xia, he felt an immense reluctance to part with her. Yet, recognizing this as his daughter's great fortune, he could not bring himself to hinder her. Thus, he bade a sorrowful farewell to Cui Que'er.
"Lady Que'er possesses the Mysterious Yin Physique. Our sect has not researched this field extensively; keeping her at the Wendao Sect would only hinder her progress."
Lu Yang turned to address Perfected Zhuiyue beside him: "Senior Zhuiyue, would it be possible to send Lady Que'er to the Immortal Palace?"
"It is possible, but she must pass the entrance trials of the Immortal Palace."
"That is only natural." Lu Yang possessed great confidence in Cui Que'er's character.
The group journeyed through the desert, successfully returning to the Great Xia and arriving back at the Wendao Sect.
Because the distance from Kaihuang City to the Wendao Sect was vast, and because they were escorting three mortals, their return journey proved even slower than their initial departure.
During this time, Bai Ye emerged on several nights. Upon learning that she could accompany Lu Yang outside simply by placing the Great Snow Mountain into the Blue Peak Sword, she smiled so widely her face could barely contain it.
Lu Yang arranged for personnel to escort Cui Que'er to the Laurel Immortal Palace, appending a token given by Perfected Zhuiyue.
Dai Bufan returned to the Mission Hall, feeling rather satisfied with the expedition to Kaihuang City.
"Junior Brother Lu contacted me in such a frantic rush that I believed something monumental had occurred, yet it turned out to be a mere cultivator at the early stage of the Tribulation Transmutation Stage... Wait, since when have I become so dismissive of early-stage Tribulation Transmutation cultivators?"
Having settled the Tang siblings, and with the Great Snow Mountain placed behind Tianmen Peak just as before, Lu Yang returned to Tianmen Peak and drew the Blue Peak Sword.
A cold light flashed from the blade, and the Eldest Senior Sister stepped out from the miniature world.
Lu Yang had feared that some mishap might occur during their time in Kaihuang City—such as an Immortal sealing off the area, rendering him unable to summon his Senior Sister—so he had simply invited her into the Blue Peak Sword beforehand.
Regrettably, no such mishap had transpired along the way.
"You brought Tang Chuanwu back as easily as this?"
Yun Zhi arched an eyebrow, unable to fathom what the user of the Time Dao Fruit was plotting, or why they had bestowed this ability upon Tang Chuanwu. She had assumed that Tang Chuanwu shared a profound connection with the user of the Time Dao Fruit and that they would encounter obstacles upon their return.
During their journey, Lu Yang had already questioned Tang Chuanwu regarding the origin of his time-reversal ability. Tang Chuanwu had only shaken his head, entirely ignorant of its source.
After all, this was an ability triggered solely by death. It was entirely possible that Tang Chuanwu had possessed it since birth, only discovering it by chance when he died unexpectedly six months prior.
"Ah, that reminds me. Junior Brother, did you not require the recipe for the Emotion-Forgetting Pill?" Yun Zhi retrieved three spatial cages from the miniature world of the Blue Peak Sword, inside of which resided the Vice Sect Master and the two elders.
"I interrogated them along the way. The proportions of the raw ingredients are easily resolved. The sole complication is that someone must consume these ingredients, utilizing their own body as a furnace to refine them. The coagulated blood that flows from them is the true Emotion-Forgetting Pill."
"As I expected." Lu Yang had already deduced as much from the earlier conversation between the two elders.
This presented a rather delicate problem. Their Wendao Sect was an orthodox and righteous sect; they could hardly utilize innocent mortals as vessels for refinement.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Lu Yang glimpsed the three captive members of the Heartless Sect.
"Oh? Why don't we simply feed the raw ingredients to these three and then drain their blood? This is the blood of cultivators at the Body Integration and Tribulation Transmutation stages. The Emotion-Forgetting Pill refined from them could be utilized even by cultivators of the Body Integration Stage!"
