Chapter 586: Exiled to Junior College, Comment Section Invaded by Demon Descendants

Chapter 586: Banished to a Vocational College, the Comment Section Overrun by the Fae

Regarding Zhang Yu and the eldritch ritual that had wrought such profound changes, Yu Xinghan harbored hundreds, even thousands of questions he longed to ask.

Though his mind was heavy with curiosity, Yu Xinghan knew this was hardly the moment for inquiry; he could not even send a message, forced to bury his thoughts deep within.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yu finally found the leisure to study the sublimated Dao Seed within Yu Xinghan.

He switched his own Green Lotus Sword Embryo (Spirit Root) to the Three-Eyed Divine Ability (Spirit Root). As his gaze swept across the bustling street, a wave of astonishment surged through him, and he hurriedly switched back to the Green Lotus Sword Embryo.

"What a formidable Dao Seed," Zhang Yu mused.

"With this Three-Eyed Divine Ability, one could master any martial art at a single glance, achieving perfection in an instant."

Yet, Zhang Yu realized this power could not be wielded recklessly.

"In daily life, I encounter countless people and techniques, but most are mundane. Mastering them would offer no benefit and only increase the risk of exposure."

"Compared to wandering about stealing techniques with the Three-Eyed Divine Ability, it is far more effective to keep the Green Lotus Sword Embryo active to enhance the Chain-Method Diagram."

"If I am to use this ability to pilfer martial arts, it must be done with precision, planning, and purpose—not by scavenging blindly through the streets."

Feeling the Green Lotus Sword Embryo return to his consciousness, Zhang Yu pondered another mystery: "I never expected that after Yu Xinghan’s potential was unlocked by the eldritch ritual, it would cause a qualitative change in the Three-Eyed Divine Ability."

A glance at his Feather Scroll confirmed the Three-Eyed Divine Ability remained at Level 3; there had been no numerical upgrade.

"It is not an upgrade, but a pure metamorphosis—the same level, yet possessing far greater power."

"But why did Yu Xinghan’s potential unlock enhance his Dao Seed, while A-Zhen’s Green Lotus Sword Embryo remained unchanged?"

Zhang Yu could not fathom the principle, only speculating: "Is the potential of the Green Lotus Sword Embryo already exhausted? Or is it that the eldritch ritual cannot influence it?"

He shook his head, unable to find an answer.

Then, a new thought struck him.

"If Yu Xinghan’s potential unlock bolstered the Three-Eyed Divine Ability, would Le Mulan’s potential unlock enhance her Abyssal Cold Dharma Lineage?"

"And if Ye Xingli, or even my Master... were to have their potential unlocked, would it elevate the power of their Spirit Rhyme Artifact Hearts or Heavenly Craftsmanship?"

The mere thought sent a thrill of excitement through Zhang Yu.

However, he knew that Ye Xingli and the Magnetic Pole True Monarch were beyond the reach of becoming followers of an eldritch god; he dared not even voice such a suggestion, lest he be reported on the spot.

As for Le Mulan...

Zhang Yu lacked absolute certainty. Even in helping Yu Xinghan, he felt he had taken a significant risk.

"I must observe further," Zhang Yu thought. "Perhaps I can find an opportunity to test the waters."

...

The next day.

True Monarch Xuyang arrived at his office, his ocular implants scrolling through a stream of news.

Seeing no mention of the interception of the Heavenly Sun Radiant God yesterday, nor any report on the surprise inspection at Zhang Yu’s construction site, Xuyang realized the higher-ups had suppressed the news to mitigate the fallout.

"Where is Yun Yuqing?" Xuyang asked, his eyes still on the feed.

No one answered.

Xuyang frowned. The atmosphere in the office felt increasingly wrong; everyone seemed to have lost their tongues, avoiding his gaze and keeping a deliberate distance.

Stung by this, Xuyang gritted his teeth. Long moments later, he received a message.

"Captain, you haven't heard?"

Xuyang replied: Heard what?

The sender remained silent, leaving Xuyang in a state of mounting agitation.

Suddenly, a notification flickered across his vision, causing him to leap to his feet. His Golden Core aura erupted, his robes snapping violently in the wake of his surging qi.

"They are transferring me to a vocational college?!"

Xuyang stormed out, reaching the office of True Monarch Qiming in moments. He took a deep breath and demanded, "Director, what is the meaning of this transfer order?"

Qiming replied coldly, "Your unauthorized enforcement has been investigated. The nature of this incident is grave, and the higher-ups are taking it very seriously."

"What did I do wrong?" Xuyang protested.

"You know full well whether you overstepped," Qiming retorted. "Abusing your authority to harass a student—is this the conduct of a qualified inspector? Go down there and reflect on your actions."

Xuyang gritted his teeth. "A vocational college? That place is a dump. No one of standing goes there!"

"If I hadn't argued on your behalf," Qiming said icily, "you wouldn't even have a vocational college to go to."

"That is all I have to say. Hand over your duties and report to your new post."

Xuyang walked out in a daze, his mind a chaotic mixture of freezing cold and burning rage.

A moment later, a jolt of clarity struck him. He knew he could not rot in a vocational college, or his life would be one of endless misery.

He remembered someone. He quickly reached out: "It is as we discussed. I helped you, and now you must help me."

"I have sacrificed my future in the Inspection Team for this. You cannot have forgotten your promise."

After a long silence, Xuyang let out a sigh of relief.

They had agreed to provide him with a sum of money and advised him to lie low, promising him a position in the future. For now, however, he had to remain invisible.

Though he knew their logic was sound, the prospect of working at a vocational college left him in a state of agonizing anxiety.

...

In Bei Wufeng’s laboratory.

As he oversaw an experiment, a message flickered across Bei Wufeng’s ocular implants from Jin Jun.

Jin Jun: Senior Brother, have you heard about Zhang Yu?

Bei Wufeng: I am busy with school-mandated training. Speak plainly.

Jin Jun: Zhang Yu clashed with students from Heavenly Fae University at the construction site.

Jin Jun: He reported them, and they were arrested.

Jin Jun: He cited environmental pollution.

Jin Jun: The students are currently detained, and many Fae are protesting.

Bei Wufeng paused his experiment, intrigued by the news. He hadn't expected his junior brother to stir up such a conflict with the Fae.

He checked Zhang Yu’s social media, finding the comment section overrun by Fae, hundreds of animal-themed avatars flooding the page with vitriol.

Jin Jun sent another message: I hear Zhang Yu has been blacklisted by many Fae.

Jin Jun: Many believe Zhang Yu is sabotaging the cooperation between the Ten Thousand Laws and the Heavenly Fae.

Jin Jun: Senior brother, should we take this opportunity to do something?

Bei Wufeng, who had been cheerfully browsing the news, frowned the moment he saw the message and replied: Junior brother, your line of thinking is deeply flawed.

Bei Wufeng: Although Zhang Yu intends to compete with me, he is, after all, one of our own from the Department of Artifact Refining. We can squabble behind closed doors as much as we like.

Bei Wufeng: But he is currently clashing with a group of demons—and civil engineering demons at that—out there. How could we possibly drag him down? What would others think of us?

Bei Wufeng: Your perspective truly needs to be broadened.

As a staunch humanist of the Immortal Path, Bei Wufeng had long harbored a deep-seated disdain for the demon-kin arriving from Sky Demon University, and he was fundamentally opposed to the Finance Department’s various strategies to court them.

Yet, knowing the prevailing winds favored this plan—with all three Transformation-stage masters in support—he kept his grievances hidden. Whenever he encountered the demon-kin, he wore a polite smile, though he mentally tagged them with an "anthropomorphic patch" in his mind’s eye to avoid the discomfort of looking at them too closely.

Of course, another reason Bei Wufeng refrained from kicking Zhang Yu while he was down was that he did not perceive Zhang Yu as a genuine threat, nor did he believe the boy could ever usurp his position on the school team.

With that, Bei Wufeng liked Zhang Yu’s social media post and returned to his experiments.

While the demon-kin online whipped themselves into a frenzy, Zhang Yu paid little heed to the commotion.

After all, compared to the demon-kin, he was far more concerned with who stood behind Master Xuyang.

Inside the laboratory of True Monarch Magnetic Pole, Zhang Yu addressed his mentor: "Master, I have caused you trouble this time."

True Monarch Magnetic Pole waved a hand dismissively: "If it hadn't happened here, it would have happened somewhere else."

She let out a cold laugh and said slowly: "Some people will stop at nothing to achieve their ends. Now that my project on the Transformation-stage Dharma Remains has yielded results, they can no longer sit still."

"Next time you encounter such a situation, report it to me immediately. Do not wait until you are on your way back, as you did today."

In her heart, she was certain this incident was inextricably linked to her upcoming assessment and her research project.

However, Zhang Yu interjected: "Master, the root of the matter still lies with me. Had I not been investigating the junior college students and become entangled with the Dual-Cultivation Sect, none of this would have spiraled out of control."

As he spoke, he handed the recording of Shui Haiyu to her: "Master, I suspect this may truly be related to the Demonic Cult."

After scanning the contents of the recording, True Monarch Magnetic Pole arched a brow. She said nothing specific, merely nodding: "I understand. Do not speak of this to anyone else for now; I will look into it."

I spent hours agonizing over a plot point, changing it back and forth—my apologies for the delay, everyone.
