Chapter 359: Yin and Yang

Chapter 359: Yin and Yang

Gazing at the figure sprawled on the ground before him, Li Huowang's expression was one of extreme displeasure.

Li Huowang remembered that the official had said the male Heart Turbidity was dead, while the female Heart Turbidity still lived. When these two Heart Turbidities came together, even Zhuge Yuan could not resolve such a situation.

Li Huowang did not know just how powerful Zhuge Yuan truly was, but he knew for certain that he was now in serious trouble.

"Firewang, what’s wrong with this eunuch?" Bai Lingmiao, who was vigilantly scanning their surroundings, clearly had no idea of the gravity of the situation.

Looking at her profile, Li Huowang took a deep breath, suppressing his intense unease. He didn't care about his own life, but if Bai Lingmiao was caught up in this, it was absolutely unacceptable!

Quickly advancing forward, Li Huowang helped lift the fallen official to his feet, asking anxiously, "Official! Don’t lose hope! This may not be set in stone yet! Think carefully—how did others inside manage to escape?"

Hearing this, the official looked at Li Huowang, his face filled with profound despair as he said, "You understand nothing. There are no survivors when something like this happens!"

Just as Li Huowang tried to say more, the sudden gazes from all directions made him tighten his grip on his sword hilt.

Gradually, a group of people emerged from the forest, identical in appearance to the creature he had captured earlier.

They bent their backs, crouched low, their distended bellies bulging, with those protruding goldfish eyes fixed intently on Li Huowang and his companions.

"Another new arrival? Great, great!"

"That girl looks quite nice. Heh."

"Yeah, and her butt is big too."

Their whispers made Li Huowang's expression grow grim. With a swift motion, he swung his copper coin sword, the red string tugging it like a whip toward them.

Yet, facing his attack, these beings didn’t even attempt to dodge—they simply took the blow with their thin, emaciated bodies.

The sharp copper coin cut through them like tofu, yet even after being severed into pieces, they remained motionless, writhing on the ground while speaking.

"Don’t rush—we won’t do anything. We’ll just wait."

"We’ll wait a year, wait two years, wait three years… until you become like us."

These words sent chills down Li Huowang’s spine, despite his usual fearlessness.

They were no longer human. These forgotten souls, hidden away by the Heart Turbidities and then forgotten, had long since mutated into monsters over the course of countless years.

Li Huowang cursed inwardly, no longer paying attention to the creatures around him. He turned back and lifted the official again.

"Official, what’s the big deal? We’re just trapped, right? Think carefully! Think of everyone waiting for you outside!"

Hearing this, the official seemed to recall something, his panic and despair quickly fading.

"Yes, she’s still waiting for me at home! I’ll take her back to the village! I’m quitting!"

Seeing this, Li Huowang exhaled in relief and calmly asked, "Official, think carefully—what can we do to get out of here?"

The official, barely regaining composure, slapped his face hard, then thought carefully before looking up at the others and saying, "Now that one Heart Turbidity is dead and one is alive, their karma has become yin and yang. The yin and yang merge, so we cannot escape. To break this deadlock, we must find the living female Heart Turbidity."

The more he spoke, the calmer he became, his voice growing faster.

"Yes, exactly! Find that female Heart Turbidity! Make her die—there might still be a chance!"

Upon hearing this, everyone forgot everything else and rushed off into the woods, searching for the so-called female Heart Turbidity.

Trees whizzed past them as Li Huowang and Bai Lingmiao searched frantically through the forest.

"Firewang, this damn place doesn’t work at all—it’s impossible to summon any immortal power," Bai Lingmiao muttered, her face full of irritation after striking the drum for a while.

Li Huowang had already expected this. In such circumstances, how could something as trivial as an immortal be of any use?

"This blind search isn’t working. Looks like we need to use talismans for divination," Li Huowang said, reaching for yellow paper, only to realize he had burned through all of it.

"Do you have yellow paper?" Li Huowang asked Bai Lingmiao.

She thought for a moment, then pulled out a small paper horse folded from yellow paper from her pocket. "This is what I use for spirit possession. See if you can use it."

Li Huowang took it and unfolded it quickly, glancing left and right before rushing toward a man hiding behind a tree who had been watching him. A short while later, he returned holding a bloody skull, beginning his divination.

Looking at the hexagram, Li Huowang tossed the skull aside and resumed the search.

But the once-faithful divination failed him this time—it couldn’t locate the pattern shown on the hexagram, no matter how much he searched.

After a day and night, it was Tuoba Danqing who finally found them. "Come quickly! Hongda found it!"

Ignoring his own exhaustion, the three of them returned along the same path.

Soon, they arrived and saw Tuoba Danqing violently slam the female Heart Turbidity’s head onto the ground.

Li Huowang’s heart clenched at the sight, his gaze darting nervously around the dark surroundings.

Yet, after a long while, nothing changed—the people who had been hidden were still there, none missing.

"What’s going on?" Li Huowang couldn’t help but ask.

At that moment, the female Heart Turbidity’s head slowly moved toward her body. Though her eyes were lifeless, she was unmistakably still alive.

Their actions were met with a harsh, mocking laughter echoing from all sides.

"Hahahaha! You actually want to kill her? Didn’t you know no one dies in this place?"

"You think we don’t want to die? We’ve wanted to die for ages! Do you know what’s worse than death? That’s living forever like this!"

The words chilled everyone present. To break free, they had to kill the female Heart Turbidity—but in this place, she could not die!

In the next instant, Bai Lingmiao drew the purple-tassel sword from Li Huowang’s side and slashed across Hongda’s neck.

Seeing Hongda continue to bleed without dying, everyone instantly understood their predicament.

It was a deadlock that seemed impossible to break.

The official’s face fell as he tried to speak, but a fist slammed into his face.

"You worthless eunuch! It’s all your fault! If it weren’t for you dragging us here to catch some damn Heart Turbidity, we wouldn’t be in this mess!"

It was Tuoba Danqing, who had completely abandoned his usual gentle demeanor, ignoring all hierarchy and lashing out at the former superior with furious fists and kicks.
