Chapter 365: Spirit Dance

Chapter 365: The Great Spirit Dance

On the main street of Yinning City, a spacious carriage slowly rolled toward the inn where Li Huowang was temporarily staying.

Inside the carriage, Li Huowang, covered in wounds, spoke to Bai Lingmiao with a gentle tone.

"I think that if those immortals really intend to follow you for life, rather than being used as laborers by them, it might be better to try Shentu Gang's method. Though his approach does carry risks. Whether or not to use it depends on your situation."

Although Bai Lingmiao currently appeared unthreatened by the immortals, the words Li Zhi had spoken before his death made Li Huowang deeply concerned for her.

Upon hearing Li Huowang's words, Bai Lingmiao stared at him in surprise. "Are the lyrics from that man's chant really so disrespectful to the immortals? Tell me quickly—what exactly is this method he mentioned?"

After pondering over what Shentu Gang had told him earlier, Li Huowang continued to relay the information to Bai Lingmiao: "Drive wolves to devour tigers. Immortals are nothing but cowardly beasts who prey on the weak and fear the strong. If you can find something else possessing them, and intimidate them with that, then you'll have leverage to negotiate with the immortals."

"What exactly did Shentu Gang seek to intimidate the immortals with?" Remembering how the immortals were currently suppressing her, Bai Lingmiao's expression grew grave.

"Raise a demon," Li Huowang said, a strange word escaping his lips.

"He didn't explain how to do it. Such cultivation involving one's life and fortune wouldn't be openly shared with me."

Bai Lingmiao silently repeated these three words, her face heavy with thought.

"Shentu Gang said it's like placing two equal weights on a scale—neither side can be heavier or lighter. If done well, both sides can work together; if done poorly, it becomes dangerous."

As he spoke, Li Huowang reached out and gently patted Bai Lingmiao's hand. "Don't worry. Once I'm done, I'll come help you."

Everything has its priorities. Li Huowang always felt that changing Bai Lingmiao’s personality was most important.

Looking at Li Huowang's right hand, nearly devoid of skin, Bai Lingmiao showed a trace of concern and pulled her hand away. "No need. This method won’t help me now. I’m fine. The immortals haven’t done anything to me."

"Really?" Li Huowang fixed his gaze on the black ring marks on Bai Lingmiao’s fair neck.

"Why lie to you? Compared to me, you should worry about yourself." Bai Lingmiao quickly shifted the topic to Li Huowang.

Though the immortals had begun to show their true colors, she had no intention of telling Li Huowang about her troubles. He'd already suffered enough—there was no need to burden him further.

As for the method he mentioned, she needed to think it through carefully once she returned.

"You can't say that. It's better to prevent future problems. I’ll keep an eye on things for you. If there are any issues with the immortals, tell me first."

Unknowingly, the carriage came to a stop—the inn had arrived. Two spirits bent down, passed under Li Huowang, and lifted him up in their arms to exit the carriage.

Under the curious glances of others in the lobby, they slowly climbed the stairs and entered their room, closing the door behind them.

"Come back to Niu Xin Village with me? Everyone's waiting for you," Bai Lingmiao asked softly while looking down at Li Huowang lying on the bed.

Li Huowang considered for a moment, then shook his head slightly. "No. I’ll stay here. If I go back to Niu Xin Village, I might miss news about the incident."

Besides, he didn’t want to involve others in his affairs. Living peacefully might be a better outcome for them all.

Those around him would only get dragged into his mess. Too many people had already died.

Bai Lingmiao looked down at Li Huowang lying on the bed, her lips curling slightly upward. She slowly undressed and leaned down to kiss him.

"I still have injuries," Li Huowang groaned, trying to speak to the girl pressing down on him.

"Heh, that's even better. You're not going to die anyway. And hey, you never told me—just who is Yang Na?!"

For some time afterward, the sutures holding Li Huowang's wounds together snapped one by one.

Long after, Bai Lingmiao lay sprawled across the blood-stained bed, her left foot resting on Li Huowang's chest. She panted and laughed softly.

Just as Li Huowang was about to speak, Bai Lingmiao's long, pale leg rose slightly and slammed down heavily, nearly knocking the weakened Li Huowang unconscious.

"You think I don’t know about the Two Spirits? Now there's also Yang Na. You sure have quite a few women, Li Huowang," Bai Lingmiao said with gritted teeth, as though her previous actions were revenge.

The same event caused very different reactions in Bai Lingmiao when she was possessed by evil energy versus when she wasn't.

Li Huowang placed his hand on Bai Lingmiao's thigh, stroking gently without explaining anything, then closed his eyes.

Just as he was drifting off to sleep, Bai Lingmiao's voice suddenly rang out. "The Two Spirits are part of me. If someday I die, treat the Two Spirits as me. But that damn Yang Na absolutely cannot be allowed!"

"If she dares to appear before you, don’t blame me for cutting ties!"

With a hint of resignation, Li Huowang opened his eyes and glanced sideways.

"Yang Na is just an illusion. Do you really need to compete with an illusion over a woman?"

At that moment, Bai Lingmiao beside him had somehow transformed into the Two Spirits.

This time, the Two Spirits didn’t wear the red veil, revealing her strange appearance fully.

Her half-face, elongated mouth slightly open, emitted a sorrowful voice. "Senior Brother Li."

Seeing the Two Spirits before him, Li Huowang momentarily lost himself. To him, she seemed like the past Bai Lingmiao had returned.

"Senior Brother Li," tears flowed from the Five Eyes of the Two Spirits. She whimpered like a little dog that had been bullied, burying her face against Li Huowang's chest.

"Lingmiao? Is it really you?"

A chill ran down his spine—a terrible suspicion sprang into Li Huowang's mind.

Could it be that Bai Lingmiao hadn’t been possessed by evil energy, but instead her body had been replaced by the Two Spirits? Had she been forced into becoming the Two Spirits?

Li Huowang held the Two Spirits tightly in his arms, his expression twisted, as he looked toward the empty room.

"Two Spirits! Come out! What is happening here?!"

At that moment, the furry body in his arms became smooth.

"Is there a difference between the Great Spirit and the Two Spirits?" Bai Lingmiao with white pupils reappeared in Li Huowang’s arms, smirking at him.

"For you, which one matters? You don’t pick anyway."

"Tell me clearly! Who are you, really?" With seriousness, Li Huowang looked terrifying, especially with his injuries.
