Chapter 665: Set Off

Chapter 665: On the Road

The atmosphere in the room was just right, but just as Li Huowang continued to kiss downward, Yang Na suddenly burst into laughter.

“What are you laughing at?” Li Huowang asked, puzzled.

“I’m just happy, Huo Wang. Thinking that you’ve really been discharged from the hospital makes me genuinely delighted—I couldn’t help but laugh.”

Yang Na gave Li Huowang a heavy kiss on his face. Seeing his expression, she cleared her throat and quickly composed herself, eyes slightly closed.

“Alright, alright, no more talk. Let’s start over. That last part never happened.”

Looking at Yang Na’s delicate face, Li Huowang gently leaned in. But just then, he sensed a pair of eyes watching him from outside the window.

When he turned his head, he saw Old Aunt Qi holding a pair of binoculars in both hands, staring toward them.

Seeing her weathered face, Li Huowang lost all interest. “Old Aunt Qi! Is it good to watch? Want to come join us too? I won’t mind!”

Yang Na, barely containing her laughter, gave him a light punch on the chest and walked to the window, pulling up the star-patterned curtain.

“At your age, how can you joke like that?”

“If I didn’t know she was so old, I’d be tempted to shout out some three-character profanity. She’s even keeping me from leaving the residential complex now,” Li Huowang said, pulling up his pants to reveal his ankle monitors.

“You’re already discharged and recovered, why are there still so many restrictions?” Yang Na crouched beside him, curiously examining the device on his ankles.

“It’s all because of what happened before.” Li Huowang sat down on a nearby stool, his voice tinged with irritation as he recounted everything that had occurred.

“I clearly provided evidence—the two severed fingers were definitely the kidnappers’. But they say the blood on my body is mine, and those fingers don’t match DNA or have any victim identification. So they still can’t fully believe me.”

“My illness has been cured, even doctors issued a certificate. Yet they still don’t trust me, still suspecting I might have gone mad.”

Yang Na sat back on the bedsheet, listening patiently to Li Huowang’s story.

“You saw the thing on my feet earlier. They call it to prevent others from kidnapping me. So they installed this to protect me. But I know it’s actually double insurance,” he added.

“Huo Wang, did someone really kidnap you? Who were they?” Yang Na tilted her head, worried, trying to imagine the situation from Li Huowang’s perspective.

Upon hearing this, Li Huowang recalled the deranged words of Qian Fu, who had spoken in the psychiatric ward. A dark cloud settled over his heart.

“How should I know? Who knows what kind of madness drove them to kidnap me? Ha, maybe people like me are rare,” Li Huowang casually changed the subject.

Whether it was related to Qian Fu or those inexplicable aliens from the Leo constellation—Li Huowang didn’t want to drag Yang Na into it. Especially since she had once been ill, if things got too complicated, and it triggered a relapse, it would be a loss beyond measure.

Once he gained more freedom, he’d personally confront Qian Fu.

Yang Na used her index finger to lift a strand of hair from her forehead, placing it behind her ear, revealing a delicate emerald earring. “Huo Wang, in that case, you should stay home for now. At least it’ll be safer.”

“I wasn’t planning to go out anyway. I’ve been taking online classes to catch up on basics. It’s just incredibly difficult.”

“Online classes? For—”

At that, Yang Na’s eyes grew moist. Even after all this time, he still remembered their promise on the rooftop—to get into the same university together.

“Huo Wang, I really, really love you,” Yang Na said, hugging Li Huowang tightly, pressing against him gently, savoring the brief warmth.

But soon, Li Huowang interrupted the moment. “Nana, when you came here, did your parents know?”

“They don’t know. If they did, how could they let me see you?” Yang Na’s expression darkened.

But quickly, her mood lifted again. “Forget about it. You’re taking online classes, right? Then let me, the top student, help you!”

“You? Are you sure? I heard online that once you enter college, a lot of high school knowledge gets returned to teachers at a faster pace.”

“Don’t underestimate people. What subjects did you study?”

Yang Na took Li Huowang’s phone, skillfully inputting her birthday into the decoding field, opening the newly downloaded teaching apps. Video heads of students kept popping up one after another.

With Yang Na guiding him, it was much easier than wandering alone. At least, it wasn’t as hard as fighting through fortresses and sieges.

Li Huowang took a deep breath, shutting off his five senses, pushing the divine light from his eyes to envelop the primordial energy within his body as much as possible.

Then, he strained to push that wrapped energy toward the dantian located in his abdomen.

There were seven levels to this cultivation technique. Li Huowang had already completed the first two, and now he was breaking through the third.

Though the so-called cultivation method originated from memories given by Doumu, its origin seemed questionable.

But Li Huowang didn’t care. Since both true and false heavenly laws had fallen under Ji Zai’s control, he figured whether the method was real or fake before, it was definitely real now.

Drops of cold sweat trickled down his forehead. He tried to control the wrapped primordial energy as best he could.

But it was extremely difficult—every little movement felt like lifting a thousand jin.

He pushed and pushed, not knowing how long it had been. When he felt utterly exhausted, he released all his strength and slowly opened his eyes.

Just a bit more, but it was far better than before. Every moment brought progress. Soon, he would break through the third level.

As he opened his eyes, floating objects in the air began to fall to the ground. The sky was just beginning to lighten.

They were almost at Qingqiu. Since Ji Zai couldn’t help, the stronger his power, the greater his chances against the sect.

Not long after, Li Huowang spotted a convoy. Most of the people in it had a twin lotus seal drawn on their foreheads with red ink, and some bore tattoos on exposed skin, though the clothing obscured what exactly was depicted.

Ignoring their gazes, Li Huowang walked straight into the largest carriage pulled by four horses.

As soon as he entered, Bai Lingmiao handed him steaming food.

While Li Huowang ate, Bai Lingmiao removed his shoes and socks, bringing him a basin of warm water to wash his feet.

After quickly finishing his meal, Li Huowang wiped his face with a towel and lay down to rest.

These days, he had been living by day and night, due to the anomalies around his cultivation. Now, only during the nighttime rest on the carriage heading to Qingqiu could he find a secluded place to cultivate.

“Nana, thank you. You’ve helped me a lot,” Li Huowang said softly, closing his eyes.

“Senior Brother Li, we don’t need to say ‘thank you’ between us.”
