Chapter 684: Qian Fu
Chapter 684: Qian Fu
Li Huowang was certainly not one to let the matter rest easily. The more the orderly insisted that Qian Fu was too ill for visitors, the more Li Huowang suspected something was off—he was determined to see Qian Fu today, no matter what.
Yet the emotions Li Huowang displayed were not that intense; he knew this was a mental hospital, and acting too out of the ordinary would only backfire.
Since they were all acquaintances, it was Wu Cheng who stepped in to help, and finally, permission was granted to see Qian Fu.
This allowed Li Huowang to breathe a sigh of relief, at least proving that those people hadn’t infiltrated the hospital. If they had, they would surely have done everything to prevent him from meeting Qian Fu.
Because he had to enter the ward, Li Huowang asked Yang Na to wait outside while he followed an orderly inside.
Soon, Li Huowang entered the intensive care unit he had visited before. As the brick-sized window in the door was slid open, he saw inside—Qian Fu, clad in a straitjacket, wriggling like a maggot on the soft floor, muttering madly to himself.
“Qian Fu!” Li Huowang was about to approach when the orderly quickly reached out to stop him. “What are you doing? Weren’t we just taking a look? You’re not planning to chat with this lunatic, are you?”
“Please, be flexible—his family asked me to pass along a message.” Li Huowang made up an excuse on the spot.
“No, no, that’s the rule! Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
“Rules aren’t that rigid. Besides, this is a private facility, not a public one.” Li Huowang extended his hand and pressed all the pocket money Sun Xiaoqin had given him over the past few days into the orderly’s palm.
Li Huowang knew full well that while doctors made good money, orderlies were just laborers doing hard work for low wages.
The orderly’s reaction soon confirmed Li Huowang’s guess. “Ahem... well, make it quick. But that fellow is completely off his rocker—if he doesn’t respond to you, I can’t do anything about it.”
Hearing this, Li Huowang immediately approached the iron door and shouted inside, “Qian Fu! Qian Fu!”
Hearing Li Huowang’s voice, Qian Fu stirred. He squirmed his body, still bound in the straitjacket, and crawled toward the iron door.
It took eight full minutes before his sweat-drenched face slammed against the iron bars of the window.
Qian Fu looked extremely bizarre now. His bloodshot eyes stared fixedly at Li Huowang, a whirlwind of excitement, collapse, and fear flickering through his gaze. “You’ve finally come for me! You’ve finally come for me!! I knew you’d see through their schemes!”
After saying this, Qian Fu wept tears of joy, his cries filled with grievance.
“Keep your voice down! Don’t attract the doctors!” Li Huowang glanced nervously down the corridor and hissed in a low voice.
Qian Fu sniffled hard, sucking the snot from his nose into his mouth before swallowing it. “I’ve waited so long for you! Do you know how they tortured me while you were gone?”
“They tortured you? They’ve infiltrated the hospital?” At these words, Li Huowang’s expression grew tense.
Qian Fu lowered his voice to a whisper, watching the orderly keeping lookout in the distance with extreme vigilance. “They’ve infiltrated, but not many—you need to be careful!”
“I’m asking you—who are ‘they’?” Li Huowang got down to business.
Qian Fu’s eyes widened as he stared at Li Huowang, incredulous. “What?! You still don’t know who’s after us?”
“You know?! Who are they??” Li Huowang’s mind flashed images of the woman holding an umbrella, the people who had kidnapped him—he racked his brains but couldn’t guess their identity or why they were doing this to him.
“Of course I do! Didn’t I tell you? They’re aliens from Leo!”
“Damn it!” If not for the iron door in the way, Li Huowang would have punched him. He felt like the guy was messing with him.
Calming himself, Li Huowang had to accept that this ally of his was a mental patient. Even if Qian Fu knew some secrets, his identity as a lunatic was inescapable.
Luckily, Li Huowang had plenty of experience dealing with psychotics and knew how to handle them. “Where’s the spaceship of those Leo aliens?” he asked Qian Fu again.
“Their ship hasn’t landed—it’s still hiding among the stars! They can’t come down yet! But some Leo aliens have come down! And some humans, for the sake of their high tech, have knelt to them and betrayed us! They’re traitors!”
Though he had come to Qian Fu for information, hearing his explanation now made Li Huowang’s heart waver.
From a madman’s mouth, half-truths and half-lies—Li Huowang could only listen with a mix of belief and skepticism.
Frowning deeply as he pondered for a moment, Li Huowang hesitantly asked, “Where did you hear all this?”
If he couldn’t get reliable information from Qian Fu, maybe he could trace it back to the source.
“Where did I hear it?! Isn’t it as obvious as nails driven into iron? I saw it with my own eyes! Don’t tell me, after everything that’s happened, you haven’t seen it!” Qian Fu glared, his eyes boring into Li Huowang.
Suddenly, Qian Fu thrust a hand through the window and grabbed Li Huowang by the collar. “Li Huowang! You have to save me—you must find a way to get me out!! Only you can save me!”
“Let go first!” Li Huowang struggled to pull the man’s hand away, but Qian Fu’s grip was like iron—no matter how hard he tugged, it wouldn’t budge.
“First, get me out, and then we can join forces with the others to fight the Leo aliens! They’re too powerful! Too powerful! Fighting alone, they’ll pick us off one by one. They’re afraid of us uniting! That’s why they’re driving us apart!”
Qian Fu’s words left Li Huowang unsettled. He felt he understood something from the ravings, yet also didn’t. “You can fight them? What can a madman like you do? Tell me, and I’ll find a way to save you!”
“I’m a madman—aren’t you a madman too? Even if we’re not close, we’re on the same side!”
Just then, the orderly in the distance noticed something wrong and rushed over, panicked. “Hey, hey, hey! Let go! Let go immediately!”
He yanked at Qian Fu’s hand and finally managed to free Li Huowang. “What’s wrong with you? Why did you grab him? Get out of here quick—if nothing happens, fine, but if something does, I’ll be in huge trouble!!”
Li Huowang cast a hesitant glance at Qian Fu in the restraint room, then turned to leave. His mind was a mess—he needed to go back and sort through his thoughts.
Seeing Li Huowang’s reaction, Qian Fu panicked. “Don’t go! Save me! Save me!”
As Li Huowang was about to reach the end of the corridor, Qian Fu pressed his entire face against the bars and screamed hoarsely, “Ji... Ji Zai!! Save me out!!”
Li Huowang stopped in his tracks. He turned and looked back at the restraint room in the distance. “What did you call me?”
“Ji Zai! You are Ji Zai!”
