Chapter 1422: The Fate of the Divine Descendants! Goal!
Chapter 1422: The Fate of the Divine Descendant! The Target!
A moment later.
The Universal Demon Sovereign led Zhou Zhan and the vast army of the Jiaoyang Divine Nation to the base he had spoken of.
Calling it a "base" was misleading.
In truth, it was an entire planet.
One so immense that it equaled the combined volume of tens of thousands of great worlds stacked together.
A planet like this—no matter how many bloodline legacies Zhou Zhan carried—was something he had never seen before. His eyes widened in astonishment.
He studied the surface of this planet carefully.
And there, spread across its terrain, stood countless structures of diverse styles and designs.
Within these buildings dwelled divine beings from countless realms and nations.
They were at the very least lower-tier deities of the inferior rank, and their numbers reached somewhere around a trillion.
Every single one of them wore uniform wartime armor.
A trillion deities!
It was a terrifyingly immense figure.
Even Zhou Zhan looked on with an expression of sheer disbelief.
Was the military might of the Ultimate Void Battlefield truly this formidable?
Or did every candidate for the Supreme Lord possess such a vast multitude of divine subordinates under their command?
Compared to the spectacle before him, the divine forces he commanded seemed utterly pathetic.
Yet, wait...
Zhou Zhan’s brow furrowed slightly.
He sensed a strange aura emanating from these deities.
The Supreme Demon Lord also observed Zhou Zhan's expression.
He smiled faintly,
"Did you not expect to see so many deities here, among me?"
Zhou Zhan didn't conceal his confusion. He nodded, marveling,
"Before I arrived here, I fought the three top-bloodline races within the Supreme Cosmic Realm."
"The combined forces of those three elite bloodline races, along with their elite offshoot races, total only twenty billion deities."
"But the number of deities here is already five hundred times greater than theirs."
"Is there such a vast disparity in strength between your elite commanders and those top-bloodline factions?"
"Moreover…"
"I sense that the spirits of this planet seem off-kilter in most cases."
The Supreme Demon Lord nodded, then slowly explained:
"This requires a more detailed account."
"The planet you see before you is the main base of our Universal Demon Army, stationed within the Ultimate Void Battlefield. I call it the Demon Lord Star."
"There are approximately 132 such base planets in the Ultimate Void Battlefield, occupying roughly one-fifteenth of the entire battlefield's territory."
"These base planets not only house our soldiers and service personnel but also possess the ability to control and monitor specific regions."
"It functions like a territorial decree—the foundation of a domain, and the proof of territorial expansion within the Ultimate Void Battlefield."
The Demon Lord paused here, shifting abruptly to the core of his words.
"As for the spirits you see before you, most of them are not actually spirits at all."
"Not spirits?"
Zhou Zhan's brow arched slightly.
"Ah."
Wan Xie Mo Zhu nodded. "Because of the exceedingly high battlefield tier of the Ultimate Void Arena, only deities can survive and fight within it. Non-deities are virtually impossible to endure here."
"But our divine soldiers require daily sustenance, living arrangements, and logistical support—these things must be managed by other members of our order."
"Divine warriors themselves lack the time and energy to handle such matters, so we have to entrust these responsibilities to others."
"Yet the Supreme Will cannot send us non-divine beings from the highest cosmos. After long and deep contemplation, we finally resorted to an extremely drastic solution."
"That is, we allow deities to bear offspring within the Ultimate Void Arena, and then, through a special secret method, transform these descendants so that their very essence can adapt to this environment—enabling them to survive here even though they are not deities by nature."
"Thus, these descendants can live and thrive within the Ultimate Void Arena."
"You mean these beings that appear divine are actually descendants of deities, forged through a special secret technique, and thus disguised as deities?" Zhou Zhan exclaimed, astonished. "Only through such deception did they manage to survive undetected within the arena?"
"It would be more accurate to say they did not deceive—it was simply a matter of adaptation."
"This is merely one method of adapting to and exploiting the rules of the environment."
The Wàn Xiá Mā Zhǔ spoke indifferently.
"Transforming the physiology of the divine descendants, enabling them to adapt to the conditions of the ultimate void battlefield?"
Zhou Zhan pondered, then suddenly recalled something, his brow lifting slightly.
"Then wouldn't they be forever trapped within the ultimate void battlefield, unable to leave at all?"
It's akin to an illness of unfamiliar soil.
Once one chooses to adapt to the conditions of the ultimate void battlefield, they are destined to be unable to adapt to the environment of the supreme, vast cosmos.
After all, the two are entirely different.
To forcibly leave the ultimate void battlefield and return to the supreme cosmos would only result in one outcome—death!
Just as humans would suffocate in space.
"Not only that,"
the Master of Ten Thousand Evil said, "if one day we manage to utterly defeat the Ultimate Void Beings, the very battlefield of ultimate void will collapse with them."
"When that happens, the divine descendants who have already become part of the life of this ultimate void battlefield will perish along with the battlefield itself."
"This is an inescapable fate."
"Fortunately, we are still too early to speak of such a thing now."
"The Ultimate Void Beings cannot be vanquished in a moment—these divine descendants will have time to endure for a while longer."
Zhou Zhan said nothing in reply.
Regarding their methods of transforming the divine descendants, he held no criticism.
With so many deities gathered upon this battlefield over the long years, the birth of descendants was inevitable.
With the means to transform these divine offspring, at least they would survive within a battlefield composed solely of deities.
But without this method, any deity-descendant born would die instantly.
So looking at it this way,
it might be better to simply alter these deity-descendants.
At least they would survive.
As for the cost of survival—that was simply unavoidable.
"By the way, since you've entered the Ultimate Void Battlefield, shouldn't the Supreme Will have assigned you certain training objectives?"
"What kind of objectives? Care to share?"
"If it's inconvenient, no problem."
The Ten Thousand Evil Demon Master asked with a gentle smile.
"There's nothing inconvenient about it."
Zhou Zhan said, "The Supreme Will's master has set only one goal for me: to completely end this war between the two universes and the ultimate void beings."
This was the goal the Supreme Will had personally told him before He arrived.
Upon hearing this, the Universal Demon Lord fell silent.
He stared blankly at Zhou Zhan, his expression suddenly bewildered.
Then, suddenly—
He chewed on his lower lip thoughtfully, patting Zhou Zhan's shoulder.
"Brother... I'm the third reserve of the Supreme Lord. Say 'brother'—would you mind?"
The Universal Demon Lord suddenly changed his tone dramatically.
His voice carried a subtle undercurrent of pity.
Zhou Zhan's lips twitched twice, then nodded.
He somehow sensed it—this creature wasn't exactly a malevolent one.
Perhaps a conversation might be worthwhile.
"Brother Mage, is there something you'd like to say?"
"Ah, the Younger of the Common People."
"Do you know how many years I've been residing here?"
The Supreme Demon Master began with a question utterly inexplicable.
