Chapter 274: Flame Demon Warlock
Chapter 274 The Fire Demon Sorcerer
A single recall scroll was worth thousands of gold pieces.
Baraha’s family had paid to buy this one specifically to preserve his life.
In such a critical moment, he produced it without hesitation, leaving everyone astonished.
Li Wei accepted Baraha’s recall scroll and said, “My teleportation token remains unused; I will take this scroll back to Teacher Sean.”
“You scatter now, seek the elders, and command the Element Tower to dispatch aid.”
Baraha voiced concern, “Can you manage this alone?”
Li Wei replied, “No one here is better suited for the task than I.”
Having spoken, he drew forth the teleportation token.
Though Li Wei had not joined the mission, his personal teleportation token had still been issued.
Activating the token summoned the Element Tower’s supreme teleportation array, transporting him to the Crimson Tier Two Zone.
Sean awaited him there.
The crowd watched silently as Li Wei vanished within the silver radiance of teleportation.
The others rushed into the Element Tower, seeking assistance through whatever means they possessed.
Rumble! Whoosh!
The cacophony of fiery explosions rang out continuously.
Countless undead were incinerated into ash.
Sean stood aloft in midair, wreathed in flames, his eyes burning crimson.
Surrounding undead surged into the inferno regardless of life or death, attempting to smother the blaze with their bodies.
Even though Sean wielded power rivaling a Fifth-Tier Mage.
He was nonetheless driven into peril by the weak undead, besieging him in near-infinite numbers via swarm tactics.
His strength had already been depleted by more than half.
All expended combating these fragile, feeble skeletal minions.
Occasionally, formidable Death Knights, Abominations, Bronze Skeletons, Silver Skeletons, and other beasts launched assaults upon him.
Defense proved impossible against such onslaughts.
Had Sean’s magic not been innate talents requiring no casting time.
He would have long since fallen beneath the relentless barrage.
Sean gazed at the Bone Demon hovering in the distance and let out a sigh.
He felt certain he would perish here today.
Escape was unattainable.
Unless aid arrived from the Element Tower, death was merely a matter of time.
The Bone Demon was a Sixth-Tier undead monstrosity, two bony wings granting it the ability to fly.
Sean lacked spatial spells, and his flight speed was sluggish.
He simply could not evade the Bone Demon’s pursuit.
The Bone Demon delayed striking Sean, directing the undead siege from afar instead.
Its sole aim was to drain Sean’s strength.
Otherwise, as a Fifth-Tier Bloodline Sorcerer, Sean possessed the capacity to drag the Bone Demon down with him.
The Bone Demon waited for an opening, and Sean waited for an opening as well.
The Bone Demon waited for Sean’s power to wane completely.
Sean waited for the Bone Demon to draw near, to wound it grievously, and seize a chance to flee.
Only by shattering the Bone Demon’s wings could he outrun its chase.
Other undead creatures could not fly; once disabled, Sean could escape into the sky.
Trapped in this predicament, Sean harbored some regret over lending his teleportation token to another.
Yet, given the choice again, he would make the identical decision.
Sean did not understand why himself.
Clearly burdened by a sinful bloodline, yet compelled to act as a righteous man.
Was it perhaps due to guilt regarding his own lineage?
Driving me to constantly seek redemption?
The flames surrounding Sean dimmed, as more undead surged toward his side.
The Bone Demon beat its wings and closed the distance to the battlefield.
Sean’s strength dwindled further, until he could not even halt ordinary skeletons.
Bone claws struck his robe, which flared with brilliant light to ward off the blows.
Soul flames ignited within the Bone Demon’s hollow sockets, a bone spear sprouting from its left palm.
Shhh!
The Bone Demon hurled the bone spear directly at Sean.
Thwack!
The bone spear pierced the robe and drove through Sean’s body.
Sean collapsed, blood streaming freely.
Spurred by the scent of blood, the surrounding skeletons instantly went berserk, their assault accelerating.
It seemed Sean was moments away from being dismembered and devoured.
The Bone Demon roared fiercely, causing all surrounding skeletons to halt and retreat.
The Bone Demon lunged at Sean, greed gleaming in its gaze.
Upon nearing Sean, the Bone Demon suddenly felt a heart-pounding dread, sensing the fear of death.
Flames erupted from Sean’s eyes, two curved black-red horns protruding from his brow.
His skin fissured, revealing black-red muscle beneath.
In an instant, Sean assumed the form of a demon. This was his bloodline—the Fire Demon Bloodline.
A bloodline originating from the Abyss.
A bloodline of sin.
Terror washed over the Bone Demon, beating its wings frantically to retreat.
“Fire Whip!”
A long whip formed of flame coalesced in Sean's hand.
With a flick, the fire whip wrapped around the bone demon, dragging the fleeing creature toward Sean.
The fire whip scorched the bone demon's body, issuing sizzling and crackling noises.
The bone demon's pristine white bones were all charred black.
Realizing retreat was impossible, the bone demon turned and lunged at Sean.
Its ten fingers transformed into slender blades, stabbing toward Sean.
Sean disregarded its attack, gripped the fire whip firmly, and pulled violently.
The fire whip burst forth with shocking power.
Demon flames burned through the bone demon's body, the whip strangling it until it burst into several pieces.
Sean broke into a smile.
The skin on his face cracked open, revealing the dark red muscle below, rendering the smile especially grotesque and terrifying.
Yet Sean smiled with great joy.
For he had finally understood.
Moments ago, when facing near death, he had made it clear.
It was not that he wished to be good only after needing to atone.
Because, he was fundamentally a good man.
The Flame Demon bloodline is an evil lineage.
That is merely the evaluation of the world.
What kind of person he is should not be determined by bloodline, nor judged by the masses.
He is simply himself.
Having slain the bone demon, Sean's strength was depleted.
The fire whip went out, and the demonic transformation upon his body gradually receded.
This explosive release drained his remaining power.
Sean stood in place, watching the encroaching skeleton monsters, raising his head to gaze at the sky.
"To die like this is not bad."
"It is just a pity, I shall not see you again, Father and Mother."
Sean's father was human, his mother an Infernal Flame Demon.
In the past he hated his parents, loathed the misfortune and evil bloodline they bestowed.
Now, he understood, he bore no hatred.
He felt a touch of longing for his parents.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Sean suddenly saw a vast shower of fire raining down from the sky.
Fixing his gaze, he saw the fire rain was composed of countless small fireballs.
The small fireballs fell into the swarm of skeleton monsters surrounding Sean, triggering violent explosions.
In the turn of an eye, a large swath of skeleton monsters was wiped clean.
Hope surged within Sean's heart, pressing out the final wisp of strength.
Boom!
A wave of flame impact swept over the dozen or so skeleton monsters nearby.
Beside Sean, there remained no standing skeleton monsters.
A figure slowly descended from the heavens.
Making out the person descending, Sean stunned in place.
"Li Wei!"
Sean never imagined the one who came to save him in the end would actually be him.
Li Wei handed the return scroll to Sean.
"You return first, I will cover you."
Holding the return scroll, Sean looked at Li Wei and asked, "And you?"
Li Wei produced a teleportation token.
"I possess a teleportation token."
Seeing this, Sean directly tore open the return scroll.
Activating the return scroll required time.
During this time he could not move, able only to rely on Li Wei for protection.
Li Wei looked at the Flame Demon horns atop Sean's head that had not yet retracted.
He asked with some curiosity, "Teacher Sean, what exactly is your bloodline?"
Sean had already let go, no longer hiding or shielding the truth.
He smiled and said, "Infernal Flame Demon bloodline."
