Chapter 221: Conquest

"Boom!"

The massive creature plummeted from the sky, crashing onto the beach without any cushion to break its fall.

The fine, soft sand was clearly incapable of providing much buffer, and Carlos let out a wail of agony.

The violent impact agitated the wounds upon its back, intensifying the gushing of blood.

It struggled to rise and flee, yet its limbs could scarcely support its weight to stand.

"Whoosh!"

A silhouette landed not far away, none other than Ronin.

As Carlos struck the ground, Ronin had kicked hard against the dragon's back to separate them, simultaneously using the Tendrils of Wind to suspend himself in mid-air.

With only a dozen meters remaining, he adjusted his posture and landed steadily upon the sandy shore.

"Whew~"

Ronin exhaled a long breath, and standing once more upon the earth, he felt an extraordinary sense of peace.

He walked slowly toward the dragon, who, perceiving his approach, let out a low growl as if warning Ronin not to come any closer.

Yet the dragon was merely bluffing, utterly devoid of the strength to unleash another dragon's breath.

Beholding this gargantuan beast at close range—with its six-meter-long body and three-meter-long tail—Ronin still felt an immense pressure despite the creature's inability to move.

But now, the advantage was his.

"You have failed, defeated by my hand."

Ronin came before the creature, holding his head high as he spoke with resonant force: "In the World of Warcraft, strength reigns supreme; since you have lost to me, you ought to submit to me!"

Perhaps Carlos was angry, or perhaps it lacked the energy to reply, but a great gust of air snorted from its nostrils, bearing a foul, reeking stench to Ronin's nose.

Dragons were proud beings; it closed its eyes, acting as though it had heard nothing.

"It seems you have not felt enough pain yet!"

Ronin showed no leniency, gripping the Flowing Flame Sword to sweep a crescent of blazing fire toward his foe.

"Roar!"

A fifth-tier battle technique caused it to sting with pain.

Carlos roared, struggling to force itself upright.

"Still wishing to fly?"

Ronin snorted coldly, leaping up to land once more upon the creature's back.

"Stay down!"

He clenched his right fist, aura condensing over his knuckles, and smashed it violently down upon the dragon's back.

The full-force strike of a Silver Knight possessed monumental power.

With a resounding crash, the dragon that had struggled to its feet collapsed back onto the ground.

"Since you refuse to submit, I shall beat you until you do!"

One punch, two punches, three punches...

Ronin struck again and again, and though Carlos initially offered low growls, by the end, only feeble, breathless whimpers remained.

It felt its eyelids growing heavier, and a distinct exhaustion appeared within its cold, blue pupils, stripped of their former ruthless luster.

Ronin leaped onto the creature's head, then bounded down to stand before it once more: "Do you submit?"

A look of sorrowful resentment flashed in Carlos's eyes; it had not expected that, having just escaped Natalia's control, it would fall into the hands of another.

Why was its life as a dragon so miserable?

[Frostfire Wing, Karlos]: Level Five (7349/7500)+

However, there were also differences.

Perhaps due to the nature of the master-servant bond, the spiritual connection between Ronin and Karlos was far tighter, even allowing for mental communication across a certain distance.

On the other side, Karlos already knew that the human before it was its master, and it submitted to him from the very depths of its soul.

At the exact moment the covenant succeeded, a surge of dark aura was forced out of its body, leaving it seemingly wreathed in black mist.

Beholding this bizarre sight, Ronin immediately knitted his brows, "What is happening?"

"It is the sinister energy Natalia left inside my body being expelled... Master."

Karlos's voice echoed.

At this moment, Ronin understood the dragon tongue; the creature was clearly male, its voice deep and resonant.

"Over these years, she used this foul energy to torture my body and mind, and whenever that wretched horn was blown, the sinister energy within me would begin to churn, forcing me to obey her commands."

Karlos looked toward Ronin, a trace of relief glimmering within its eyes.

It had never expected that signing a contract with this human would purge the dark energy from its body, freeing it from eternal torment.

Looking at it this way, it did not seem so bad after all.

"Natalia... and who exactly are her subordinates?"

Now that Ronin could converse with Karlos, he asked the question he had been longing to clarify.

As the dragon involved in the ordeal, Karlos ought to know the answer.
