Chapter 191: Faking a Faint to Scrape

Chapter 191: Playing the Victim and Faking a Faint

"Hmm?"

This restaurant primarily catered to celebrities. While not crowded, it was never entirely empty, and at the sound of the commotion, every head turned.

Bai Zhi had splashed a face full of juice onto Zhu Yu!

This was headline-worthy material, pure and simple.

The two had been linked by rumors before; there was clearly a story here.

Every pair of eyes in the room ignited with the burning fire of gossip.

Zhu Yu stood frozen, juice dripping from his face. He knew Bai Zhi had always been headstrong, but he never imagined she would douse him in public. He had prepared himself for her cold shoulder, her disgust, or even being chased away, but this—this he had not prepared for at all.

"Are you insane?"

Zhu Yu suddenly erupted like a startled cat. Now, it wasn't just the patrons inside; passersby outside the restaurant peered in, drawn by curiosity.

Bai Zhi tossed the empty glass aside and said coldly, "Get lost."

"What on earth did I do to you to deserve this? You owe me an explanation!" Zhu Yu had completely abandoned all restraint, ignoring the onlookers entirely.

Instead of leaving, he took two steps toward Bai Zhi.

"Let's go."

Su Qingcen, standing beside Bai Zhi, looked grim, but seeing the crowd and then Bai Zhi, she quickly pulled her away.

"Nobody is leaving until I get an explanation!"

Zhu Yu wouldn't let them pass, blocking their path directly.

But the moment he did, he felt a massive force nudge him. His body lost control, pushed aside, and he tumbled to the floor.

Everyone turned their gaze to Meng Fan, who had been the one to nudge him.

Meng Fan looked utterly innocent, spreading his hands. "Is this... a staged accident?"

The onlookers nearly burst into laughter. It was exactly that!

Everyone had seen Meng Fan give Zhu Yu the gentlest of shoves—hardly even a push. It was clearly just to clear the way. Even though the young man looked tall and sturdy, such a light nudge shouldn't have been enough to topple Zhu Yu so dramatically.

Zhu Yu wasn't exactly frail; he was always posting gym selfies online. Were those muscles fake?

If the muscles weren't fake, then the fall certainly was.

"Hey, are you alright? Let me... let me help you up. Don't go trying to frame me."

Meng Fan reached out to help the fallen Zhu Yu with startling speed. The furious Zhu Yu couldn't even dodge; his arms were gripped like they were in a vice, impossible to break free from.

"Hey, hey! Don't you go fainting on me!" Meng Fan, still gripping his arms, suddenly cried out in alarm. He began to shake him, adding in a panicked, distraught tone, "You can't do this! Don't try to frame me! I'm just a student, you can't be like this! Everyone saw it—I just gave you a tiny nudge and you fell. It was such a light fall, you didn't even hit anything, how are you fainting now?"

Zhu Yu was completely bewildered. I'm not trying to faint! Let me go, if you keep shaking me, I really will pass out!

But Meng Fan’s shaking technique, while appearing gentle, left Zhu Yu unable to utter a single word.

Bai Zhi, Su Qingcen, and Sister Sun, the assistant who had brought Meng Fan, watched in stunned silence. Their moods, which had been abysmal, suddenly shifted, and they nearly laughed out loud.

As for the other onlookers, they couldn't really see what was happening, as Zhu Yu was practically lying on the floor, and Meng Fan’s frame blocked the view of anyone trying to get a closer look.

"I've always heard Zhu Yu was a piece of work. Seems it's true."

"No kidding. Why else would Bai Zhi splash him with juice?"

"They say the rumors about him and Bai Zhi were all his own press releases. Never heard of someone being so shameless just to chase clout!"

"He latches onto her every chance he gets, just so the paparazzi can snap pictures, you know!"

"Bai Zhi has a fiery temper! I heard she's wanted to tear him apart for ages, but she held back because they're in the same company."

"What a scumbag!"

"The worst part is his acting! He falls from a light nudge and fakes a faint! He's clearly just trying to bully the big guy!"

"If you hadn't seen it, you'd really think the big guy pushed him over!"

The entertainment industry was a small world. While the public might be confused about the drama between Bai Zhi and Zhu Yu, those on the inside knew exactly what was going on. But such things were common, and as long as it didn't involve them, no one cared to speak up.

Seeing it now, they mostly just scoffed.

Of course, some sharp-eyed observers felt something was off, especially regarding the tall guy.

Who is he?

Why did he push Zhu Yu?

Others in the industry would have avoided this like the plague.

But this big guy? He jumped right in.

He must know Bai Zhi or Su Qingcen, right?

And he seemed to be doing it on purpose—or at least exaggerating for effect. His acting was good.

Could he be intentionally playing along to frame Zhu Yu for faking a faint?

Regardless, the onlookers were all looking down on Zhu Yu; the effect was perfect.

After about twenty shakes, Bai Zhi spoke up. "If he wants to fake a faint, let him. There's no point talking to someone like that. Xiaofan, let's go."

"Huh? He's really faking it? How can someone be so wicked!"

At these words, Meng Fan let go, dropping Zhu Yu onto the floor. He wore the expression of a naive youth encountering the world's malice for the first time—full of grievance and indignation. He cast a look of disdain at the man on the floor before hurrying away with the women.

Zhu Yu lay on the floor, utterly dazed, his brain completely short-circuited.

What was he trying to do again? How did it end up like this?

It took him at least a minute to stand up. He wiped the juice from his face—it was almost dry, leaving only a sticky, sugary residue—and he could sense the strange looks from the crowd. Most of all, he could feel the overwhelming contempt.

He had wanted to make a scene, but somehow, Bai Zhi and the others had just walked away.

But even if they had left, this wasn't over!

"Zhu Yu!"

Just then, Zhu Yu’s manager, having heard about the incident, rushed over. His face was even darker than Bai Zhi’s had been!

...

"Hahahahahahahaha!"

"You are too wicked!"

"That jerk was so stunned he couldn't get a single word out!"

"That was so satisfying!"

Once they were inside the room and the door was shut, Bai Zhi and Su Qingcen couldn't hold it in any longer.

Meng Fan thought to himself, this was nothing. The last time he’d kicked him into the venue, the guy had been even more confused; at least this time he knew who had done it.

Sister Sun, Bai Zhi’s assistant, looked worried. "How can you two be so carefree? Who knows what the fallout of this will be!"

Looking closely, though, it was clear that neither Bai Zhi nor Su Qingcen cared in the slightest.

As for Meng Fan, Sister Sun knew who his sister was. With a sister like that, could he ever be a person who feared trouble?

Good heavens, what a massive headache!
