Chapter 203: Going Crazy Is Truly Not Human
Chapter 203: When He Goes Mad, He Is Hardly Human
After Chen Daqiang left, Meng Fan continued pacing his room, chatting with Wu Tong.
"..."
"Grinding on the manuscript again?"
"Yeah, thinking about bumping up the comic's update schedule."
"Working that hard?"
"I want to become a better version of myself."
"Then I suppose I have to work hard too."
"You woman, you're so muddled, so outrageous!"
"You're about to say something cheesy, aren't you?"
"You've derailed my train of thought."
Wu Tong retracted her previous message and played along: "How am I outrageous?"
Meng Fan retracted his previous message as well, then replied: "Perfectly muddled, and so beautiful it's outrageous! If you're already like this and still want to work hard, how are the rest of us supposed to survive?"
Hmm, the page looks so clean after retracting that one.
Wu Tong sent back a smiley face: "I don't care if others survive or not, as long as you're doing well."
What was that?!
Meng Fan was so excited he started spinning in circles, then his brain short-circuited: "Drop the 'as long as'!"
He sent it, immediately regretted it, and scrambled to retract it, but Wu Tong didn't reply again.
"You're courting death!"
Meng Fan let out a howl toward the ceiling, nearly weeping. The atmosphere had been so perfect, and he had single-handedly ruined it with a brain cramp.
Why did he have to learn that trash-talking style from Zhang Zhouwei of all people?
Buzz.
Just as Meng Fan was feeling dejected, Wu Tong finally replied: "Go finish your manuscript. I'm going to read."
"You got it!"
Meng Fan replied with the energy of someone injected with adrenaline, then returned to his room to start the stream.
"There is only one item on tonight's agenda: drawing comics."
After posting the announcement, Meng Fan settled his mind and dove back into *Campus Love Guide*. He barely glanced at the chat, spoke very little, though he did hum along to the music several times.
The stream soon flooded with three hundred thousand viewers. More trickled in later, though many left upon seeing it was just drawing; no matter how brilliant his technique or how fast his pace, not everyone wanted to watch that. Relatively speaking, they preferred more direct, interactive content.
Of course, there were still plenty watching the art, as the stream had started with drawing, and the numbers stabilized at over two hundred thousand after the initial turnover.
As they watched, the viewers began to notice something unusual.
Previously, Meng Fan’s drawing streams were mostly illustrations, or comics presented as isolated panels. This time, however, it was different.
He was drawing continuously, page after page, with a cohesive narrative.
There were many fans of *Campus Love Guide* in the chat, and they easily recognized the content—these were the chapters following the latest update.
Meng Fan’s speed was no longer a surprise, but as they watched, the viewers began to panic.
Two hours and twelve minutes!
An entire chapter was finished!
What kind of speed was that?
Drawing illustrations quickly could be attributed to pure technique and hand speed, but doing a comic this fast? That wasn't just technique—his brain was moving at lightning speed too!
The fans here knew that comics were usually updated weekly, not because the authors were lazy, but because they were genuinely difficult to produce. You think it’s just drawing a dozen panels? You have to tell a story, brother!
It’s like writing a novel; you think it’s just clacking away at a keyboard? You have to plot it out. Otherwise, you might as well just roll your face across the keys.
After finishing, Meng Fan checked the time and was quite satisfied. The chapter was a bit shorter and simpler, but his speed had indeed increased.
He stood up to stretch, then took his streaming assistant and walked around while talking to the viewers: "I plan to finish *Campus Love Guide* as quickly as possible. Future updates will be much more frequent—daily updates are a certainty. The second volume is already in preparation; we'll see how it sells, and if it doesn't move, I'll just give them away like the first."
That reminded him.
The first volume had been given away entirely. If the second volume was to be sold through retail channels, perhaps he should print more of the first. He’d have to see what Qin Jiu said.
"After *Campus Love Guide* concludes, I'll accelerate the updates for *Spirits Beneath the Earth*. Kun-ye is quite diligent; he’s already submitted scripts up to chapter 50. I need to catch up to his pace. Once I do, I’ll decide on the future schedule based on what he sends next."
"Someone asked why I'm finishing *Campus Love Guide* so fast? Well, those who read it can probably tell—it’s a short series, a medium-length one at most. The scriptwriter has already finished the ending, so I’m just speeding up the pace. Also, once *Campus Love Guide* is done and I’ve caught up to Kun-ye, I want to start an original comic of my own. I have a story in my head that I think is quite good, and I’ve been wanting to share it with everyone."
It was a bit of a teaser. Seeing the chat filled with praise and anticipation, Meng Fan felt happy. A storyteller naturally hopes for more people to listen and see, even if this story didn't even have an opening yet.
After chatting a bit more, Meng Fan ended the stream. After getting enough rest, he continued drawing—not *Campus Love Guide*, but switching gears to *Spirits Beneath the Earth*.
He finished a chapter of *Spirits* near one in the morning. By then, Meng Fan was already feeling drowsy. It was clear how much energy such high-intensity drawing consumed; even with energy gels, he couldn't just draw forever.
"This won't do!"
When Meng Fan went mad, he was truly not human. He thought of a method that was as good as crazy.
Improving his physical stamina quickly was impossible, so he changed his approach: he would enhance his ability to pull all-nighters.
How? By grinding the "Night Wanderer" task, of course.
He had been working on this task for quite a while, having cleared 43 locations so far, leaving 7 more to reach the 50 required for the third stage of progress.
Off he went, to grind!
But he was already sleepy—how could he grind?
Simple: go to the scenic spots and sleep!
He had discovered before that just sitting still at a location could generate experience, so sleeping should work too.
And if it didn't?
Then he’d just come back.
He didn't hesitate. Meng Fan put on his high-tech sportswear, threw on a jacket, and headed out, hailing a taxi to the West Lake scenic area.
There were countless spots in the West Lake area, and with the surrounding vicinity, he could easily clear the remaining requirements if he played his cards right.
Arriving at the Yongjin Pavilion on the south line, Meng Fan confirmed it was a spot he hadn't cleared yet. He pulled his hat low, found a sheltered spot, took a pillow from his bag, and settled into a comfortable position to sleep.
With his hat on, no one would notice someone sleeping in the park this late, nor would he startle any couples wandering about.
As for the temperature, the November night was indeed chilly, but his sportswear and sweat-wicking gear had temperature-regulating functions, allowing him to dial in the perfect sleeping climate.
He set his phone alarm, connected it to the high-tech earbuds he kept in his ears, and an hour later, seeing his experience had indeed risen, he moved to the next spot to sleep again.
