Chapter 511: At the Concert (Part 3)

Chapter 511: The Concert (Part Two)

To be proposed to by the woman he loved most at his idol's concert!

Yu Longxue felt an unprecedented surge of happiness!

Who was to say this wasn't the most romantic proposal in the world? To Yu Longxue, it absolutely was!

To many in the audience, this clearly ranked among the world's most romantic proposals, adding yet another sour lemon of envy to the collection of concert proposals.

With a lemon this massive, it was bound to taste incredibly sour, yet amidst that jealousy, everyone showered them with blessings, as evidenced by the flood of comments in the livestream chat and the roaring applause and cheers in the arena.

What pure envy!

Who wouldn't want to be proposed to at their idol's concert? Even initiating the proposal would be great, but they could only stew in their own bitterness, considering they didn't even have a partner to begin with.

Today was January eleventh, a day lonelier than Singles' Day on November eleventh—after all, the digits of 11.11 at least appeared in pairs. Having to swallow such a massive serving of public affection, and with most having paid for the privilege, it was enough to make them choke!

Meanwhile, quite a few viewers in the livestream chat actually recognized the couple—or rather, the newlyweds. They were moved far more than the rest because, like Meng Fan, they knew exactly what the two had endured together.

The words life and death seemed common enough when applied to love stories, appearing in countless television dramas, novels, and even ancient poetry, but in reality, how many modern romances actually encountered life and death? Exceedingly few, yet Yu Longxue and his partner had faced just that.

Those who had lived through it or witnessed it firsthand truly hoped that life and death would never touch a romance, for it was no blessing, nor was it ever a proper way to test love.

Yet, having survived it, it was uniquely precious.

"Let me know when you hold the banquet."

Meng Fan waited for Yu Longxue to slip the diamond ring onto his fiancée's finger before stepping forward to give them a hug. Though he wore a grin and was in the mood to tease them, he was actually deeply moved. Even though he had been one of the masterminds behind this proposal from the very start and knew about the surprise beforehand, seeing it succeed still filled him with excitement and a warm glow of satisfaction.

The concert, which had started with a fierce and soaring energy, shifted gears due to this sudden proposal. While it lacked the intense frenzy of moments before, the atmosphere grew warmer, suffused with a touch of tender emotion. From this alone, the audience gained a distinct emotional experience alongside the audiovisual feast.

Meng Fan watched the newlyweds walk off the stage, and the concert resumed, the musical style transitioning naturally from soaring anthems into soulful, affectionate melodies.

Next, Meng Fan sang two soulful ballads back-to-back. His unique vocals, combined with the emotional power derived from his vocal resonance, submerged the entire venue into an ocean of love. For the singles in attendance, they either found themselves yearning for love or felt suffocated by the heavy scent of romance in the air—a scent they despised yet desperately inhaled anyway. As for the affectionate couples around them who were embracing or even stealing kisses, the singles chose to look away while still casting surreptitious glances.

Well, a large portion of the single girls kept their eyes locked entirely on Meng Fan. Though they couldn't have him, merely imagining it cost them nothing. As for Meng Fan occasionally casting a tender gaze toward Wu Tong on the second floor, they chose to ignore that as well.

You can flaunt your romance, and I will view you as my handsome crush. Perfectly fair!

People always asked if you were still single on Singles' Day. Heh, if you weren't single, were you supposed to be a dog?

Well, yes, everyone there was!

Following those two love songs, the third guest of the concert took the stage. Jin Xiaowen did not immediately duet with Meng Fan; instead, Meng Fan stepped down first, leaving Jin Xiaowen to perform his most famous rearrangement, the very track that had made him famous on a talent show: "Mad For Love."

Jin Xiaowen's live performance was excellent. When he first debuted, his stage presence might have been slightly lacking, but his rearrangement skills easily carried the songs, leaving a lasting impression that he was a highly capable singer. Over the years, having transitioned from behind the scenes to the front of the stage, his performance opportunities multiplied, honing both his stage presence and vocal technique. In terms of live ability, he truly rivaled first-tier singers, maintaining a distinct, personal edge.

When Meng Fan returned to the stage to duet with him, they performed a universally known, almost overplayed song, "Fly Far Away." The effect was brilliant; everyone knew the lyrics, and the performance quickly transformed into a massive venue-wide sing-along.

As the duet concluded, Jin Xiaowen happily left the stage amidst thunderous applause. Originally, the song they were meant to perform was an insert track he wrote for "Spirits Underground," but Meng Fan had insisted on this one. Clearly, Meng Fan had foreseen the massive stadium sing-along. His sole reason was to let Jin Xiaowen shine; though this concert wasn't the grandest stage imaginable, every bit of exposure counted toward winning over new fans.

Moreover, the livestream concurrent viewers had already surpassed five million. Most of these die-hard fans knew that Jin Xiaowen had contributed immensely to Meng Fan's concerts and albums, and had even assisted with Meng Fan's anime-related music. Loving Meng Fan meant loving those around him, making it highly likely for them to become Jin Xiaowen's fans, or at least pay closer attention whenever his songs or television appearances popped up.

Additionally, this would inevitably bring Jin Xiaowen more industry resources.

The spectacular concert rolled on, wave after wave of climaxes building from start to finish. Both the venue audience and the die-hard fans in the livestream thoroughly enjoyed themselves, making the ticket price more than worth it.

When the other two concert guests, Shi Shiwu and Qin Jing, took the stage, the excitement reached an ultimate peak.

During the show, several moments triggered stadium-wide cheers. For instance, when the giant screens displayed Wu Tong and Meng Caivi seated on the second floor, when the camera panned to Dean Zhan's family alongside Hu Cunyong and Xiao Yunlin, when a sleepy fan sneaked onto the stage to present flowers but tripped from running too fast, and when Meng Fan sang "We Are the Champions" alongside the judo team members whom he had invited as special guests while they were in Hangzhou for intensive training.

The athletes had been strictly ordered by Meng Fan to wear their Olympic gold medals on stage. Meng Fan himself wore five, clinking loudly with every step he took. Beneath the stage, the three coaches didn't know whether to laugh or cry, sorely tempted to go up and beat him, but they ultimately closed their eyes, deciding that what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over.

Before long, the clock struck eleven-thirty. The concert had long since run overtime. If this hadn't been the comprehensive gymnasium of the Olympic Center, the venue staff would have started clearing the room long ago instead of allowing Meng Fan to drag the show out. As for the setlist, they had rehearsed numerous tracks beforehand, making it simple for Meng Fan to temporarily add a few solo songs that required no elaborate stage effects.

Truth be told, Meng Fan had sung himself into a high. He wanted to keep riding that wave, but he finally brought the concert to a close at eleven-thirty. It wasn't that his voice was giving out, but rather that the audience was running out of steam. High-energy cheering for nearly four hours would turn even an iron throat hoarse, let alone the average person's stamina, which simply couldn't keep pace with such intense exertion.
