Chapter 609: The Field of Jisang Like a Grave (2)
Chapter 609: The Field of Millet Like a Grave (Part II)
"Beast, I'll slaughter you!"
How could Ma Wang Ye fail to recognize the steel fragments embedded in Tian Chou's body—they were clearly from numerous ink-armored warriors.
At this moment, their meaningless adhesion to flesh and blood was Tian Chou's way of telling Ma Wang Ye that the Ming Gui warrior corps who had followed Tian Zha to Xin'an had likewise fallen into his belly.
Boom!
A bolt of crimson-black lightning erupted in the night, and the high-rise beneath Li Jun's feet could not withstand the tremendous recoil, collapsing with a rumbling crash.
The figure shot out, engulfed in raging flames, evaporating like a sudden downpour, leaving a white mist trail in midair.
Clang!
The spear trembled, unleashing a speed that left onlookers stunned.
The force wrapped around the spear's edge boiled like soup, emitting a piercing scream.
Refined weapons, sharp and fierce!
"Come on!!"
Facing the enraged man and armor, Tian Chou stood unflinching, laughing wildly, gripping the bloodied greatsword in both hands, sweeping it horizontally as the long spear thrust forward.
The massive blade's swing generated a gale, stirring debris and rubble across the ground. The disproportionate clash of blade and spear sent shockwaves in all directions, as if severing the rain pouring from the sky.
Clang!
At the moment of impact, the bone-edged blade of the bloodied greatsword suddenly emitted a crackling sound, startling Tian Chou.
A fine crack spread from the point of collision, followed by a series of tearing sounds like torn silk.
Watching the intimidating bloodied greatsword crumble into fragments, the flesh and blood between the armor plates exploded into a mushy mess, gushing forth streams of fresh blood.
Feed on dragons and tigers, dragons and tigers arrive in unison!
The law of the minister, perfected!
The granary technique, fully unleashed!
Li Jun's great spear whirled, raising blades of icy light, severing both of Tian Chou's arms at the elbows!
In the instant they passed each other, Li Jun's peripheral vision caught a glimpse behind him, and his brow furrowed suddenly.
He saw that Tian Chou's frenzy remained undiminished, with thick blood vessels like serpents writhing from the severed wrists, coiling around the two severed arms flung into the air.
The blood mist erupting from the limbs flowed backward like a rewinding scene, and the shattered flesh and blood reassembled into his body.
In an instant, Tian Chou's injuries were fully healed.
At the same time, Li Jun had already turned back, charging again toward Tian Chou's rear.
The Zhao Dan spear, bolstered by the unparalleled power of the "Eight Directions Thunder Movement," pierced through the air, and Li Jun, wielding it with one hand, smashed Tian Chou's skull directly.
The flames clinging to the armor surged forth, reducing the scattered flesh and blood to ash.
"Li Jun, even if your solitary path is strong enough to rival the third sequence, what difference does it make? In my millet field, you're nothing but a trapped beast, destined to die of exhaustion, becoming nourishment for my flesh and blood fields!"
The headless flesh giant still stood unmoving, thunderous rumbles emanating from his abdomen, as a new head, trailing viscous liquid, emerged again from the severed neck's blood hole.
"You can't kill me."
Before Tian Chou's arrogant words could finish, the explosive sound struck him, and the newly reformed head was blasted apart by Li Jun's spear.
"Can't kill me?"
"Useless. Possessing the millet field, a single person becomes a fortress. If you want to kill me, you must slaughter the entire city of Xin'an!"
"Then try it!"
A mountain-like pressure descended, silencing Tian Chou, his small-mountain frame struggling to swing his massive fists toward Li Jun.
Such an attack was, naturally, no threat to Li Jun—he flicked his spear, piercing the fist's edge, then twisted it, slicing off Tian Chou's fists and wrists.
Yet Tian Chou, who cared not for being beheaded, was even less concerned with such minor wounds.
However, he was equally aware that in this form, close combat with a solitary martial sequence could only end in being slaughtered.
Thus, Tian Chou did not choose to regenerate his right hand's fingers but instead whipped out thick tendrils of flesh and blood from the severed wrists, like a swarm of sea-born evil serpents, dripping blood and water as they lunged at Li Jun in midair.
The unique black-red energy of the "Eight Directions Thunder Movement" surged through his body, like unending sparks.
In a flash of light and shadow, Li Jun vanished from the spot.
The black-red lightning pierced through the snarling "blood serpents," its residual force gouging a hole through Tian Chou's chest.
"Old Li, this brat might be up to something tricky. Be careful."
After passing each other again, the red eyes in Ma Wang Ye's helmet suddenly transmitted his low voice.
In fact, without Ma Ye's reminder, Li Jun had already noticed Tian Chou's anomaly.
To be precise, his actions defied all logic.
If Tian Chou merely wished to survive Li Jun's assault, he could have maintained the "millet field" form of his flesh and blood.
In that state, Li Jun had no means to deal with him.
The greatest weakness of the martial sequence was its lack of area-denial destructive capability.
Though refined weapons could still affect Tian Chou, they couldn't inflict substantial damage as they would on lower-sequence foes.
Yet similarly, if Tian Chou maintained the "millet field," he couldn't harm Li Jun either.
Li Jun could always withdraw easily.
Therefore, Tian Chou now condensed this flesh body—not to confront Li Jun head-on and seek a killing opportunity, but to deliberately provide Li Jun with a clear target.
To delay Li Jun, consuming his strength through being struck.
But even realizing the irregularity, Li Jun no longer had the chance to retreat for long-term planning.
For Zou Si Jiu was still trapped in the dream realm!
Even if Li Jun could force his way out of Xin'an, forcibly severing the dream might kill Zou Si Jiu's consciousness, reducing him to a living corpse.
Thus, the only path before Li Jun was to slay Tian Chou before his stamina and inner energy were exhausted!
As Li Jun thought this, a denser cluster of blood tendrils and flesh whips surged toward him, the pungent blood scent rushing into his nostrils.
Stepping on the rain in midair, Li Jun dragged his spear straight into the fray, the black flames dancing on the armor surged wildly, incinerating the incoming tendrils into charred segments.
The Zhao Dan spear, its blade raging with fury, pierced forward with unstoppable speed into Tian Chou's face.
Puchi!
Li Jun gritted his teeth, his arm muscles bulging, pressing the spear downward, cleaving Tian Chou's body in two.
Heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys—magnified nearly tenfold, they appeared terrifyingly monstrous, tumbling from Tian Chou's belly with muffled thuds.
The small-mountain flesh giant collapsed face-up, yet Li Jun showed no sign of stopping, unleashing full firepower until Tian Chou was reduced to a blurred puddle of flesh.
"Huff"
Li Jun exhaled slowly, gazing at the sprawling, mushy blood below, his left hand waving, scattering sparks.
Ma Wang Ye's black flames ignited flesh on contact, and even the pouring rain could not suppress the rising inferno.
The ground was littered with charred meat paste, hissing and crackling as noxious black smoke billowed in thick waves, mingling with piercing screams.
It seemed the vengeful spirits of the New An civilians devoured by Tian Cuo were unleashing their venomous curses.
Yet even so, Tian Cuo still did not die.
The blackened flesh and blood, just washed away by the rain, sprouted fresh crimson buds from the earth’s fissures, converging from all directions to coalesce once more into a human silhouette.
But from Li Jun’s perspective, this time Tian Cuo’s form had shrunk significantly, from five zhang to less than three.
This was good news!
Li Jun steadied his breath, and two lung-spirits resembling swimming dragons erupted from his nostrils, his inner energy boiling anew.
The spear trembled, descending from the heavens!
Tian Cuo, still unformed with features, was torn apart again by the whistling spear.
Puchi!
No one knew how many times this blood rain had been swept into the sky by the damp cold wind.
Li Jun couldn’t be bothered to count; his jaw was slick with sweat, his lips parched, the spear that once felt weightless now heavy in his hands, and the inner force within him growing thin.
Only his eyes remained sharp and fierce!
In the pockmarked ruins, a lump of flesh with a faint human shape stood planted in the earth.
Its blood and flesh still writhed, but alas, it could not mend both front and back, left and right—the pace of repair could not keep up with the speed of destruction wrought by his remaining strength.
Tian Cuo, who had once boasted of being unkillable, now stood at death’s door.
“Can’t be killed? With this little blood, you dare speak of hard lives before me?!”
Li Jun spat fiercely, his face darkening with malevolence, as if tangible killing intent rose inch by inch along his upright spine.
Zheng!
A cold gleam struck; Tian Cuo’s indistinct facial features suddenly split open horizontally, like a mouth agape in despair.
The next moment, the coalescing form exploded from within, scattering into fragments of flesh across the ground.
“Fei Yi!”
A cry of terror shot skyward.
Tian Cuo, whose flesh had nearly ground Li Jun’s spear-blade to naught, had finally reached the end of its tether, revealing the hidden sabertooth it had long concealed!
Silently, the scattered flesh behind Li Jun coalesced into a broad-faced visage with a wide nose and mouth, its features grotesquely fleshy.
It was none other than Zong Yin, one of the leaders of the Society of the Land—Fei Yi!
Back-to-back with Fei Yi, Li Jun had anticipated this long ago; he yanked his spear back, its edge hurtling toward the anomaly sprouting behind him.
As Fei Yi beheld the lightning-fast gleam before him, he couldn’t help but sneer, seemingly resigned to Li Jun’s lingering prowess.
In an instant, the folds of flesh on his face burst open with jet-black eyes, blinking in unison, releasing a torrent of bewilderingly complex spiritual force.
The gaze shifted, then shifted again.
Fei Yi’s flashing eyes suddenly widened in horror—he realized the spear’s momentum showed no sign of halting, and he yelped, flying backward in retreat.
Tempered Martial Arts, Concealing Heaven!
Tempered Martial Arts, Vanquish Enemy!
As Tian Cuo and Fei Yi schemed to ambush him, Li Jun had kept reserves, sealing the killing move!
Now, Concealing Heaven broke free from its lock, Vanquish Enemy descended to ensnare Fei Yi, and Li Jun charged, spear thrusting straight through!
Puchi!
Tian Cuo, now reduced to a ‘slingshot’ form, burst forth from the spreading blood-soaked fields, pierced by Li Jun’s spear and flung into fragments.
The stinking hot blood splashed across Fei Yi’s round face; seizing the chance to catch his breath, his already downturned mouth sagged further, forming an expression akin to resentment.
The eyeballs embedded in the wrinkles of his face burst open one by one, leaving crimson pits the size of thumbs, stretched sideways like a mouth agape, unleashing silent, piercing shrieks!
The Dao Sequence’s Yellow Liang, the Buddha Sequence’s Ling Guo, the Yin-Yang’s You Hai!
Countless illusions and realities overlapped and intertwined, swarming into Li Jun’s mind.
In an instant, a clear cracking sound echoed in his ears, followed by a violent palpitation.
This sensation was as if the protective barrier of Concealing Heaven had been forcibly torn apart, leaving his consciousness starkly exposed.
Li Jun’s vision darkened; under this highly targeted assault, he lost consciousness.
“Damn it, didn’t expect even Old Ma to have his off-days.”
A low curse echoed from the helmet’s single eye, its red glow rapidly fading.
Ka ka ka.
Just before the red light vanished entirely, the overlapping ink-armored plates shifted swiftly, sealing every gap with ruthless precision, airtight and impenetrable, shielding Li Jun’s body beneath.
Bang!
The armored figure crashed heavily to the ground.
Its red hue tinged with pallor, barely a thin layer of greasy flesh remained, writhing madly, inch by inch swallowing Li Jun’s form.
A fist-sized chunk separated from Fei Yi’s round face, dripped to the earth, and coalesced into a tiny human shape no larger than a palm.
Tian Cuo and Fei Yi stood silent, exchanging glances, both clearly seeing the lingering trauma in each other’s eyes.
“Good, we’ve finally caught him in the end.”
Fei Yi chuckled awkwardly, “The surrounding counties will soon send new ‘human fields’; bury him deep, and make sure he doesn’t escape.”
“Choose some quality ones.” Tian Cuo rumbled.
“Don’t worry, they’re all specially selected and sequenced.”
But after these few words, an eerie silence fell between them.
The fear of life and death surged endlessly after the battle, leaving no inclination to speak.
Compared to Tian Cuo, who had been ‘slaughtered’ dozens of times by Li Jun, Fei Yi fared much better, and it was he who finally broke the oppressive quiet.
“Old Master has orders—once this is done, I must return to the fields immediately.”
A hint of weariness crossed Fei Yi’s face: “This place is yours now.”
Tian Cuo ‘hmm’ed, his gaze drifting to Li Jun, now submerged in flesh, his brow furrowed.
“After he’s digested…”
“Don’t do what shouldn’t be done, don’t harbor what shouldn’t be thought! One lone sequenced soul is enough for everyone to share.”
Fei Yi’s voice boomed, his three-foot-wide visage looming over Tian Cuo’s head, its blood-flesh pits like eyes brimming with warnings.
“I don’t want to end up in the Society with no true friend left, understand?”
“Understood.”
Tian Cuo shook his head, as if flinging dangerous thoughts from his mind.
“Though if we can spare a portion, Old Master probably won’t object.”
Fei Yi's words shifted abruptly, a thin smirk curling at the corner of his mouth.
“You mean”
“The true form of the Wu shrine lies within your Ji field; once she disposes of Zhao Mengze, you might as well digest her along the way.”
“No problem.”
Tian Chou extended his scarlet tongue, licking the exposed gums.
“By the way.”
Tian Chou, as if suddenly recalling something, asked: “There are still a few survivors in the city; should we take care of them?”
“Don't rush, first round them up. Since Li Jun would rush from the borders to die for them, it shows these people hold considerable weight in his heart.”
Fei Yi said in a low voice: “After you bite through that Rank Three Black Ink armor, these people will still be of great use.”
“What use?”
“The lone martial sequence is thick‑skinned and resolute, a tough bone to crack. Moreover, Li Jun has forged many martial arts on his person, even one specifically designed to repel mental shocks; if you move too aggressively while feeding, you'll easily rouse him, so you must not be hasty.”
Fei Yi sneered: “But when you reach the crucial moment of consumption, their flesh and blood will become a potent catalyst, capable of killing both body and soul!”
“But I've lingered here too long; won't something unexpected arise?”
Tian Chou still harbored worry: “After all, this is the imperial heartland.”
“Rest easy; everyone's eyes are fixed on Lin Jia Po, waiting for her to cross that threshold—no one will come to bother you.”
As he spoke, the flesh composing Fei Yi's visage began to melt and drip away.
“Furthermore, Tian Que has fallen; the only force that could have rescued him is gone. The few remaining nobodies, not yet formed, may not even make it out of the borders alive—they'll raise no great wave.”
“Once you have digested him completely, Tian Chou, we are but a single step from godhood.”
Fei Yi's words faded into the downpour, and Tian Chou lifted his gaze to the sky above, still black and deep as the sea.
“Li Jun, I told you—you cannot kill me!”
His facial muscles twitched, slowly revealing a silent, horrifying grin; the flesh beneath his feet writhed, gradually engulfing his body.
“This Ji field is my banquet table, and also the grave I have prepared for you. Fire Lord? Hahaha!”
