Chapter 506: Surpassing the Original Master, Each Fighting Their Own Battle
"Bang!"
Stamping upon the earth, Wang Yu, bolstered by the unprecedented intensity of the Chariot’s power and the Void Engine, lunged straight toward Sura. Every obstacle in his path was swept away by the Night God’s power, harnessed by the Chariot’s force, allowing him to unleash his full strength without restraint.
"Attempting to seal the space I occupy? A truly commendable mastery of spatial theory, yet it lacks a certain something. The Phase Gate spell was crafted for my own use from its very inception; what you have learned and utilized is likely not what suits you best."
Magic had long since permeated Sura’s brain, using time-dilation and reinforcement spells to elevate his cognition to a level capable of tracking Wang Yu’s movements. Within the projection field of that colossal heart, the Void served as an extension of his senses, allowing him to observe Wang Yu’s every action without relying on physical perception.
The moment after Sura’s form vanished, Wang Yu’s heavy fist struck empty air. The atmosphere detonated, the shockwave rippling outward through the gas, rebounding and colliding within the subterranean chamber until the surrounding rock and earth shattered and scattered. Sura’s words still lingered in the air—a retort, perhaps, to the girl, Aivia, whose recent attempt to seal Sura’s space had failed.
Curling his fingers into a blade, Wang Yu condensed highly compressed battle aura at his fingertips and lashed out at Sura, who had reappeared in the distance. The resilient filaments of aura transformed into sharp cutting lines, empowered by the terrifying speed and force of Wang Yu’s strike into an attack that could sever anything.
"Hum!"
Raising a hand, Sura casually summoned a spatial rift to block the path of the filaments. The fault in space became the ultimate barrier, and the aura strike, capable of cleaving mountains and splitting stone, was blocked without issue. An attack that could cut through most matter remained insufficient to pierce space itself.
"Tsk..."
Wang Yu clicked his tongue. He did not know how that legendary sword saint named Ethan had managed to cut through space; he himself could only tear open Void rifts with his bare hands. But a Void rift and a spatial rift were not the same thing. Against a legendary mage like Sura—who stood at the peak of the legendary tier and possessed masterful command over spatial arts—many of Wang Yu’s offensive methods were simply ineffective.
Since he could not yet master the power to forcibly shatter space, he would rely on his most proficient method: crushing through with transcendent force and speed.
Pale white ghost fire began to burn upon his skin. The limiter of the Cursed Fire was released, and the entirety of the Night God’s power he possessed was converted into life force to fuel the flames. Void Engine: Blood-Burning Drive activated.
Crouching slightly, Wang Yu vanished. Stamping upon the surrounding matter—be it ethereal or physical, air, rock, or even magic—he moved in a trajectory impossible to track. One could only judge his path by the sudden explosive air bursts, the crumbling earth, and the chaotic turbulence of magic left in his wake.
"Boom!"
Fist fell, sound shattered. Just as Wang Yu had anticipated, if one’s strength and speed reached a certain threshold, Sura would have no opportunity to employ spatial magic. The threshold was simply to be faster than the flow of magic itself. It sounded difficult, and in reality, it was even harder, yet Wang Yu, fueled by half the Night God’s power, achieved it.
"A body truly strong to a certain degree. Such a monster—it seems impossible to resolve you in the material world. But you must also understand that it is impossible to kill me in the material world, right?"
The punch Wang Yu had just delivered had struck "Sura" squarely. The modified flesh, possessing the strength of a low-tier legendary knight, was pulverized, and the resulting shockwave carved a tunnel over fifty meters long into the rock wall behind him.
Yet, just as Sura’s voice echoed throughout the chamber, he was not truly there. This "Sura" manifested before Wang Yu and Aivia was merely a controlled puppet; his true consciousness resided within the Void.
"..."
Silent, Wang Yu stood his ground, having no intention of entertaining Sura’s words. He seemed to have his own perspective; whether Sura lived or died was irrelevant to him. His only goal was to smash everything Sura had manifested in the material world.
"It seems there is no way to make you come to where I truly reside of your own volition. Then, I must be rude."
Sura’s tone carried a hint of helplessness. He truly had no better solution for Wang Yu’s stubbornness, so he had no choice but to force the issue.
A daring maneuver: spatial fluctuations suddenly flashed around Wang Yu. The time-acceleration, pre-layered onto the next spell, allowed the flow of magic to briefly surpass the limit of the counter-attack speed Wang Yu could muster while the Void Engine: Blood-Burning Drive was active.
Before Wang Yu could shatter the manifested "Sura" with his fist, massive Void energy, accompanied by a tidal wave of magic, enveloped him. The accelerated space rapidly completed the spell structure within this high-energy environment and took effect.
The entire space around Wang Yu was affected. A multitude of spatial anchors drove into it, and like removing a brick from a wall, the large expanse of space containing Wang Yu was detached from its connection to the surrounding area, forcibly moving him toward the region Sura desired.
"An interesting counter-measure. Actively throwing the space around you into extreme chaos so that I cannot use the Phase Gate—which requires precise calculation—to move your body directly. Still, you are somewhat limited by your own capabilities. I need only move the space containing you as a whole to ignore your defensive measures."
Sura manipulated Wang Yu with a smile, appearing as relaxed as if he were taking a stroll. Wang Yu, imbued with the Night God’s power, seemed unable to contend with this ancient being who had lived for who knows how long—or rather, with Sura on his home turf.
"Very well, come with me."
Sura shifted his own form using a pre-set spatial spell to avoid Wang Yu’s next punch, then immediately returned to the original coordinates and pointed a finger directly at Wang Yu’s body. The Void power swirling at his fingertip intertwined with the spell’s effects, forming a powerful spatial transfer. The intent was clear: to drag Wang Yu into the Void and into his own domain.
The speed was immense. A series of spells that perfectly predicted his logic of action gave Sura the illusion of being one step ahead of Wang Yu. In reality, he had only outpaced this state of Wang Yu for a split second; thereafter, he had merely relied on prediction to forcibly neutralize Wang Yu’s advantage. Wang Yu had no way to avoid the finger pointed at the precise gap.
"Snap!"
A palm met Sura’s pointing fingertip. The girl had reached half her body out from that space belonging to Wang Yu, blocking her palm before him at the very moment he was about to be struck, her eyes cold as she looked at the "Sura" before her.
"Hm? Escaping from that sanctuary I could not touch? Very well. If I dispose of you, he should become much easier to handle."
As Sura’s slightly surprised words fell, his head suddenly exploded. This "puppet" body, not his true form and crafted by unknown means, held something hidden within its shell.
An eyeball of an unknown creature appeared where the "Sura" skull had burst. Within it, a power closer to life force or battle aura—not magic or Void—condensed upon the ink-green pupil, firing without delay at the girl who had emerged.
The Astral Eye, discovered in the same era as the Starry Dew, was suspected to be an extraterrestrial object. It contained an energy that did not belong to the three primary power systems.
When triggered in a specific form, it could release an instant-hit attack from the pupil, ignoring almost all defensive measures. Upon touching life, it would rapidly drain all extractable energy, including the soul, before recycling it into the pupil and vanishing in the self-destruction of the eye itself.
To use such a precious item to attack Aivia showed that Sura understood clearly: the threat level had risen significantly now that Wang Yu was coordinating with the existence that had been aiding him.
"Zzz..."
A sound that did not truly exist: the attack projected from the Astral Eye struck the girl instantly, yet it produced no effect. Even the process of its return was erased, all due to the faint golden light covering Aivia—the "Golden Body" effect of the Chariot’s power.
"Truly incomprehensible. Hm?!"
Even Sura felt genuinely troubled and bewildered. Could she dismiss even the Astral Eye—something he could not truly block—with such nonchalance? But the surprise did not stop there; something even further beyond his expectations occurred.
The magic information fed back from his fingertip led Sura to believe that the spell used to drag Wang Yu into the Void had been disrupted and rendered ineffective by the girl. But the truth was, it had not. The spell remained activated; the girl’s act of blocking his finger with her palm was not meant to stop Wang Yu from being dragged into the Void at all.
What Aivia was truly doing was tampering with the spell—a highly powerful transmission spell that bridged the boundary between the Void and the material world, based on the Phase Gate and mixed with Void energy and magic.
The Chariot’s power directly invaded the spell constructed by Sura, violently modifying the circuit structure she had deciphered and clarified. Supported by the Night God’s power, she ruthlessly changed the parameters of the Phase Gate used to confirm the target to those of her own choosing, aiming for a destination other than the one Sura had prepared.
Wang Yu possessed the ability known as the Chariot’s Power: Silent Hall. Regardless of who Sura was, casting spells properly in Wang Yu’s presence was an impossibility.
Sura wanted to drag Wang Yu into the Void, his home turf. Did Wang Yu not want the same? After truly beginning to understand the power he possessed, Wang Yu realized that the Void was his home turf as well.
The spatial transfer activated immediately, beginning to drag both Wang Yu and Sura into the Void—not to the main base of the Idealist organization that Sura had prepared, but to a point extremely far away.
"Apologies, but I cannot go to unfamiliar places with you."
Sura spoke, intending to use his mastery to modify the spell’s effect. He had originally set the spell to bring both Wang Yu and himself to the target point, but now that things had gone awry, he—the true self, not the puppet—could not take such a risk. He still had a true mission to complete.
But as he attempted to modify the spell, he abruptly discovered he could not complete the change—which required only the alteration of key data—before the spell triggered. The intrusion from Aivia made it impossible to achieve what he desired.
The distorted space that Aivia had originally used to prevent Sura from applying the transmission effect directly to Wang Yu now turned that seemingly chaotic and unpredictable "pseudo-random number" into an effective modification, slamming it into the spell Sura was trying to change.
This did not mean Aivia’s mastery of spells had truly surpassed Sura’s—perhaps it would in the future, but it was too early for that now. However, the girl held too many advantages regarding the Phase Gate, a special spell reliant on calculation.
A powerful tool for modification, the Chariot’s power, calculation capabilities far exceeding the limits of human reach, the Night God’s power, and some Earth mathematical knowledge—universal to any world—that this world had yet to develop for various reasons.
With the three combined, the girl’s spatial spell mastery, refined step-by-step based on the Phase Gate, briefly surpassed the original creator, completing the tampering before he could successfully do anything.
In an instant, Wang Yu and Sura vanished from the material world, heading toward the Void battlefield chosen by the girl. In the material world, that colossal heart continued to engage in a frenzied firefight with the Allied Legions, while Wang Yu and the combat forces of the other continental intelligent races fought their own separate battles.
