Chapter 104: Still Have to Rely on Eldest Senior Sister
"What is going on!" The three of them stared at one another, utterly at a loss as to what to do.
"Is this Immortal Sect reliable at all? Didn't we agree he was called the Immortal Cultivator? Why did it react when I called out Immortal Fairy!" Lu Yang shouted in exasperation at the sect's incompetence. They couldn't even clarify whether their own object of worship was an Immortal Cultivator or an Immortal Fairy—what kind of religious sect were they supposed to be!
"Stop talking nonsense, let's just run!" Meng Jingzhou yelled. Now was not the time for complaints.
The human figure condensing in the sky was as fleeting as a dream, its existence highly unstable. Sensing the karmic bond between herself and Lu Yang, and realizing it was he who had invoked her true name, she transformed into a beam of flowing light and entered Lu Yang's body.
"Just barely reached Foundation Establishment, such a weak existence." The figure arrived within Lu Yang's spiritual space, an uncultivated territory where only a tiny patch was illuminated.
As the figure entered the spiritual space, Lu Yang found himself drawn there as well.
The spiritual space was pitch black all around, as though invisible walls stood erected in the darkness. Only a small area in the center glowed with light, and it was within this radiance that Lu Yang and the figure stood.
Lu Yang looked at the figure warily. "Who are you!"
The figure chuckled softly, observing Lu Yang's reaction with great interest. Her voice was beautiful, yet to Lu Yang's ears, it sounded like a declaration from hell: "Heh, you have already called out my name, and yet you do not know who I am?"
Lu Yang, who had been harboring a shred of hope, felt his heart sink. The worst-case scenario had materialized; to think the entity was truly the object of worship for the Immortal Sect.
The adversary was an immortal, a genuine, resurrected immortal!
To be revived merely by having one's name uttered—what a terrifying existence this was!
"What do you want to do?"
The figure disdained to answer Lu Yang's question and instead countered: "What year is it now, and who rules the realm?"
"It is currently the Great Xia Dynasty, and the supreme ruler of the human race is the Emperor of Xia. One hundred thousand years before this was the Great Yu Dynasty. The Great Yu Dynasty existed for a total of one hundred thousand years, but I do not know of any dynasties before that."
"Emperor of Xia? Great Xia? Great Yu? These are all dynasties I have never heard of." The figure shook her head and asked again, "How long have I been dead?"
This question was beyond Lu Yang's capacity to answer: "As far as I know, you are an immortal from the ancient era. You once shielded the human race when the Anonymous refined the stars into continents."
Lu Yang deliberately reminded her of the great and noble deeds she had performed in protecting humanity, implying she was an immortal of the righteous path who should not do anything unbecoming to a junior like him.
"The Anonymous? Refining stars into continents? Shielding the human race? What absolute nonsense is all this." The figure was completely bewildered, having no idea what Lu Yang was talking about.
Lu Yang almost cursed out loud. He knew the Immortal Sect was untrustworthy, but was even a single shred of their information true? The entity herself knew absolutely nothing about these legends!
The figure realized that her era had long since passed—so long ago that the human race had completely forgotten her deeds and her immortal name. If there had been even a single soul in the mortal world who still spoke her title and immortal name, she would have been resurrected long ago, and she wouldn't be so utterly ignorant of the Great Yu and Great Xia dynasties.
Ah well, since the world had forgotten her name, she would use this youth's body to make the name of the Immortal Fairy, Huang Doudou, resound across the heavens and earth once more.
The Immortal Fairy cast her gaze upon Lu Yang, her eyes holding a trace of approval and amusement.
Lu Yang caught a terrible premonition, only to hear the Immortal Fairy sneer: "I see your cultivation is low, having just reached Foundation Establishment, but your spiritual roots are exceptional and your foundation is solid. Allow me to seize your body, and I shall take you to experience the prosperity of this world!"
Body seizure!
Matters were progressing step by step toward the exact direction Lu Yang dreaded the most.
Unwilling to submit to such a fate, Lu Yang fell into a defensive stance to confront the Immortal Fairy, unleashing a set of fist techniques that looked suspiciously like an imitation of a woman's movements.
"Don't think you're so grand just because you're an immortal!"
The Immortal Fairy sneered. What could such soft and feeble fists possibly accomplish?
She had already scanned the surroundings—two ghosts, two Foundation Establishment cultivators, and a dragon-horse. None of them could stop her from seizing this body!
Had Meng Jingzhou or Mangu been present, they would have recognized that Lu Yang was executing the ultimate technique of the Pictographic Fists: the Eldest Senior Sister Pictographic Fist.
Within the Dao Seeking Sect, Yun Zhi was currently in the grand assembly hall, discussing various matters of the sect with the eight elders.
"I believe we should allocate more spirit stones to our Cauldron Peak. We are on the verge of a major breakthrough in the Dao of Alchemy. Right now, we only need a few more spirit stones to achieve greatness. This is a historic moment, and no amount of spirit stones is too much to invest!"
"Giving spirit stones to your Cauldron Peak is worse than giving them to our medicine garden. We happen to need a complete replacement of the underlying arrays, which will make the herbs grow even stronger!"
The elders expressed their views on which faction the spirit stones should be allocated to, refusing to yield to one another. Just as Yun Zhi was about to speak, the eight elders noticed her movement and fell silent.
Suddenly, Yun Zhi's body stiffened. That familiar sensation had returned—was Lu Yang borrowing her power again?
A wisp of power materialized at Yun Zhi's fingertips. Should she give it to him?
The last time Lu Yang had easily borrowed power from her was because she had been off guard. This time, she was well-prepared and did not allow a single drop of power to leak out.
After a brief moment of thought, Yun Zhi withdrew her power and decided to personally see what Lu Yang was up to.
"Elders, please continue the discussion. I shall return shortly."
Yun Zhi's divine soul departed from her body, soaring through the heavens and earth, leaving the elders staring at one another in bewilderment.
Her divine soul flew into the sky and leaped forward, hurtling at an incredible speed. Locating the coordinate, she entered Lu Yang's body.
The moment she stepped into Lu Yang's body, she heard the Immortal Fairy mocking: "Surrender your resistance obediently and let me seize your body."
Yun Zhi recognized at a single glance that the Immortal Fairy was an immortal soul; though weak, it was an intact immortal soul nonetheless.
"You dare strike at my Junior Brother?" Yun Zhi extended a delicate, fair hand and struck toward the Immortal Fairy.
"Who is it!" The Immortal Fairy was astonished. She had been completely oblivious to the other party's arrival. Although this was partly due to her immortal soul being weakened from her recent resurrection, it was still an extraordinary feat.
The Immortal Fairy felt a touch of gratification. In the long years since her death, the human race had actually given rise to such a prodigy.
"Dao Seeking Sect, Yun Zhi."
The Immortal Fairy intended to block Yun Zhi's jade-like hand, but the palm strike, which appeared fragile and weak, actually contained the mysteries of the universe. It was exquisitely profound, as if it had exhausted all the principles of magical arts, making it utterly impossible to resist.
"Wait, perhaps there is a misunderstanding between us! I was merely playing a joke on a junior!" The Immortal Fairy's expression changed drastically. She exhausted all her capabilities to block the strike, realizing the opponent's strength far exceeded her expectations.
Yun Zhi paid no heed to the Immortal Fairy's words. Without the slightest hesitation, her palm came down, suppressing the Immortal Fairy.
The Immortal Fairy was infuriated and resisted with all her might: "You girl, do not push your luck! Do not think this Fairy is afraid of you!"
"An immortal cannot be insulted!"
Seeing that the Immortal Fairy still attempted to resist, Yun Zhi frowned and cast Lu Yang out of the spiritual world. With Lu Yang present, it was inconvenient for her to employ her methods.
"Phew—" Lu Yang finally departed from the spiritual world and returned to reality. He let out a long breath, feeling the profound relief of surviving a catastrophe.
Seeing Lu Yang regain his senses, Meng Jingzhou and Mangu hastily stepped forward to ask how he was.
Just moments ago, Lu Yang's eyes had been vacant as he stared blankly ahead. Meng Jingzhou and Mangu had been in a frantic panic, utterly unsure of what to do, until another divine soul resembling their Eldest Senior Sister descended from the sky and entered Lu Yang's body.
"I don't know." Lu Yang shook his head. It wasn't that he lacked confidence in his Eldest Senior Sister, but the opponent was an immortal after all—and an ancient one at that. His Eldest Senior Sister had once remarked that there were no immortals in the world, which meant she herself was certainly not one.
With the two of them fighting, Lu Yang had no idea who would emerge victorious.
"If Eldest Senior Sister is here, it should be fine." Meng Jingzhou spoke without much conviction. He knew the Eldest Senior Sister was strong, but exactly how strong, he did not know.
"Alright, come in." Before long, Lu Yang heard his Eldest Senior Sister's voice echoing within his body, as cold and detached as ever.
Lu Yang returned to the spiritual space once more, only to find the once-haughty Immortal Fairy looking thoroughly battered, desperately trying to explain to the Eldest Senior Sister that she was a good person.
"I merely managed to resurrect with great difficulty and wanted to play a joke on a junior. I am a woman, so how could I possibly seize a male cultivator's body? I, Huang Doudou, am a person of dignity and would never do something so disgraceful."
"Furthermore, this is an immortal soul. A body at the Foundation Establishment stage cannot possibly withstand my power."
The Eldest Senior Sister gazed quietly at the Immortal Fairy, Huang Doudou. Only after an indeterminate silence did she finally offer a response.
"Oh."
It seemed she believed the Immortal Fairy's explanation.
