Chapter 413: Business of the Seven Emotions Valley

The man in the white paper hat fled for his life, and since Lu Yang and Zhao Po knew this was not someone they could capture, neither of them gave it much thought.

Zhao Po produced a small gong and tapped it gently, producing a pleasant, resonant sound.

"This is the method of communication between my friend and me; if she is within the valley, she should come out to receive us shortly."

Before long, a slender and graceful woman walked out from the Valley of Seven Emotions. Upon seeing Zhao Po, her eyes lit up slightly, though she concealed her joy well, immediately speaking with a slightly disdainful tone: "What kind of curse have you been afflicted with this time?"

Zhao Po did not mind her attitude in the slightest, smiling faintly as he introduced: "This is a friend I have just made, Lu Yang of the Daoist Sect. He requires the Valley Master's assistance with a certain matter."

"This is Luo Yu, a core disciple of the Valley of Seven Emotions. Her master is the Valley Master herself."

"Lu Yang?!" Hearing the name, Luo Yu was greatly startled. "Are you that Lu Yang who took first place at the Qingzhou Grand Ceremony, and then, not feeling satisfied after the match, even thrashed the judges?"

Lu Yang felt that he possessed numerous virtues and that it was entirely unnecessary for him to be famous for this sort of thing.

"I have a friend who has been afflicted with an unspeakable curse that is exceptionally difficult to unravel. I would like to request the Valley Master's aid."

Luo Yu looked at Lu Yang with a gaze tinged with slight pity; yet another cursed victim claiming 'I have a friend'.

"Master is about to emerge from seclusion, though whether her old ladyship is willing to help you lift the curse is hard to say. Please, come inside first."

"It is not me, it is a friend of mine," Lu Yang corrected.

"I understand completely."

The two followed Luo Yu through the entrance of the formation, entering the Valley of Seven Emotions.

"By the way, does your Daoist Sect happen to have someone named Xie Shanren?" Luo Yu suddenly inquired.

"Yes, Xie Shanren is our Fourth Elder. Is there some sort of issue?"

The Fourth Elder rarely left the sect, and those in the outside world seldom knew his true name.

"There is a bit of an issue. When Master was young, she fancied a man named Xie Shanren. The two met by chance, and Master fell in love with him at first sight. They often sat together to discuss the Dao, conversing with great joy. Master even taught him the methods of unraveling curses, wishing to use this to prove her devotion. Regrettably, Xie Shanren ultimately did not accept Master's kindness; he cast her aside, left the Desolate Province, and returned to the Daoist Sect."

"Judging from how Master constantly murmurs about Xie Shanren year-round, she still hasn't let him go in her heart. As for whether it is love, or hatred born from love, that remains uncertain."

Hearing this, Lu Yang broke into a cold sweat.

No wonder, despite the Valley of Seven Emotions being the sect most adept at curse arts in the Desolate Province, the Fourth Elder had not allowed the two of them to come here, but had instead recommended they go to the Corpse Driving Sect. So this was the reason.

Yet having already stepped into the Valley of Seven Emotions, leaving now would be somewhat embarrassing.

He could only hope the Valley Master was magnanimous and would not take issue with a minor disciple of the Daoist Sect like himself.

Lu Yang felt that he had sacrificed far too much just to resolve Meng Jingzhou's curse; even acting as a father could amount to no more than this.

"Do friends always like to act as each other's elders?" The Immortal Fairy asked Lu Yang, seemingly reminded of something.

"One cannot say all of them do, but a portion certainly do."

"So that is how it is."

"Did you think of something, Fairy?"

The Fairy nodded, revealing a simple and honest smile: "The first time I cooked for the Qilin Immortal, he called me mother. It turns out he just regarded me as a friend. It seems sharing a meal truly does foster relationships."

The Immortal Fairy looked very beautiful when she smiled, far more pleasing to the eye than the ice-cold Eldest Senior Sister, but Lu Yang had not met her just yesterday and was not deceived by her innocent smile.

"Tell me in detail, what exactly happened?"

"It was after I challenged the Yingtian Immortal and the Qilin Immortal above my level. I felt somewhat apologetic, so I invited them both to dinner. At first, they were very wary of me, thinking I intended to poison them. Later, seeing that my cooking process was smooth and showed no signs of poison, they finally felt at ease to eat."

"The Qilin Immortal took a bite of the food, cried out 'Ma!', and then fainted away. It was likely a case of a weak body being unable to handle such intense nourishment."

"The Yingtian Immortal also fainted."

"The Qilin Immortal was born from the combination of heaven and earth's destiny, possessing neither father nor mother. He must have hallucinated me as his mother." The Immortal Fairy shook her head gently, feeling that the Qilin Immortal was rather pitiful.

Lu Yang suspected that what the Qilin Immortal had actually wanted to shout back then was "Motherfucker, it's poisonous!", but had lost consciousness right after the first word, leading to the Immortal Fairy's misunderstanding.

It was difficult for posterity to judge the relative strength of the young immortals, but Lu Yang had his own method.

From the fact that the Qilin Immortal could still utter a single word while the Yingtian Immortal could not speak at all, it appeared the Qilin Immortal's cultivation was indeed a cut above.

In reality, the three of them traversed through the Valley of Seven Emotions. Lu Yang witnessed many people who had entered the interior of the valley seeking aid to lift curses; these were all complex and difficult curses that the disciples attending patients at the entrance could not resolve.

"Cursemaster, every time I meditate at night, I can always hear the sound of mosquitoes buzzing by my ears, and my body becomes intolerably itchy. I heard that you have developed a new type of curse with exactly this effect. Have I been afflicted by this curse?"

"Fellow Daoist, our Valley of Seven Emotions has indeed developed such a curse, but in my view, there are no signs of anyone having placed a curse upon you. Furthermore, there are mosquito bites on your exposed skin; it is highly probable that there are actual mosquitoes around you."

"I don't believe it. It must be you people cursing me."

The disciple of the Valley of Seven Emotions sighed softly. The cost of manufacturing that curse was extremely high; given your low cultivation, who would waste a curse on you.

"Very well, take this object. Place it beside you when you go into seclusion, and there will be no further curses."

"What is this?"

"Mosquito coils. Three hundred spirit stones a piece."

"Cursemaster, from childhood to adulthood, there has never been a female cultivator who liked me. Every time I confess to them, they reject me, without exception. My peers are already married, yet I don't even have a girlfriend. Have I been cursed?"

"Fellow Daoist, your situation is not a curse. Your personal charm is beyond question; all you lack is spirit stones. Our Valley of Seven Emotions offers lending services. Would you like to borrow spirit stones from us? The annual interest rate is only twenty percent."

"Cursemaster, ever since I killed someone recently, the bloody appearance of the deceased before his death always surfaces in my mind. He roared that he would curse me to never have peace. I still have nightmares now, dreaming of the deceased dripping with blood, crawling toward me to claim my life, terrifying me so much that I dare not sleep."

"Recently, a chill has been running down my spine, making me feel as though someone is following behind me, yet when I turn my head, there is nothing there."

"When I am in secluded cultivation, strange laughter occasionally echoes by my ears, as if mocking my wretched state. I flee in panic, but the sound keeps echoing around me."

"Sometimes, a red figure appears before my eyes, but when I rub my eyes to look closely, the red figure vanishes again."

"Have I been cursed?"

The disciple of the Valley of Seven Emotions looked at the man's darkened forehead, his swollen eyes, and his terrified gaze, then nodded gently. It was rare to encounter someone who was truly cursed: "You are indeed cursed, and it is the extremely difficult-to-resolve Curse of the Unjustly Dead."

"Is there a solution?"

"Naturally there is. There is no curse that my Valley of Seven Emotions cannot break. However, this curse is too difficult for me to unravel. Wait here while I call my Senior Brother to assist."

Before long, this disciple of the Valley of Seven Emotions brought over his Senior Brother, pointed at the man, and said: "Senior Brother, it's this murderer right here. I cannot defeat him alone. Let us join forces to escort him to the government office!"

The second update will be at eleven o'clock.
