Chapter 679: Twin Rivers

The two sovereigns knelt on the ground in silence, but the more they listened, the stranger it all felt.

Did the ancient Heavenly Court know the law so well?

And shouldn't they be calling her "Sect Master"? Why were they crying out "Eldest Senior Sister"?

Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou wore their true faces. As noble Half-Immortals, the sovereigns primarily studied the major factions of the current era that could pose a threat to them. A couple of minor Nascent Soul stage cultivators naturally never caught their eye, to say nothing of the fact that Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou had made their names back when they were merely in the Golden Core stage.

After listening to the back-and-forth explanations from Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou, the Eldest Senior Sister determined that the battle between the two sovereigns indeed had nothing to do with her two junior brothers.

"Junior Brother, you said just now that these two sovereigns wished to steal an ancient artifact. I wonder what exactly it is they meant to steal?"

"Heheh, the Second-in-Command doesn't know much about this matter, so it's better if this Immortal explains." The Immortal Fairy emerged from Lu Yang's body.

The two sovereigns stared at the Immortal Fairy in startled disbelief. Neither of them had realized that another person was residing within Lu Yang's body!

This was impossible!

Even if a Tribulation Transmutation cultivator were staying inside Lu Yang's body, they could not have escaped their discerning eyes!

Was this woman a Half-Immortal?

"Do you still remember the Poria sisters these two little fellows spoke of?"

The Eldest Senior Sister nodded; the experiences of those two sisters were indeed quite bizarre.

"In truth, those two sisters were not born biologically of their parents. It was only after their mother drank the water of the Twin River that she gave birth to the pair."

"What is the Twin River?" The Eldest Senior Sister had never heard of it.

"This brings us to the greatness of this Immortal."

"To think that back in the ancient era, this Immortal had countless believers. Some begged this Immortal for a child, while others begged this Immortal for twins. This Immortal gladly agreed, and using supreme, profound magic, created the Mother-Child River and the Twin River."

"Whosoever drinks the water of the Mother-Child River shall become pregnant."

"Whosoever drinks the water of the Twin River shall bear twins."

The Nightmare Sovereign's eyes widened in sheer disbelief as he stared at the Immortal Fairy in terror, his voice trembling: "You... no, You are the Ying Tian Immortal?!"

He had come here in search of the Twin River, yet he never expected the creator itself to be right here!

The legendary Ying Tian Immortal was actually a woman!

Lu Yang: "..."

Needless to say, it must be another instance where the alterations of historical facts had attributed the Immortal Fairy's creations to the name of the Ying Tian Immortal.

The Eldest Senior Sister was stunned upon hearing this. Recalling certain matters, she looked at the Immortal Fairy with a peculiar gaze, her emotions complex and somewhat unable to believe what she had just heard. Her tone was entirely different from usual.

"Are you saying... you created the Mother-Child River, and whosoever drinks its water will become pregnant?"

The Immortal Fairy was innocent by nature and did not notice the Eldest Senior Sister's anomaly, nodding earnestly: "Yes, is there something wrong?"

"Then where is the Mother-Child River now?"

The Immortal Fairy shook her head: "I don't know. When Ying Tian Immortal and the others reshaped the continent, the geography changed. I don't know where they moved the Mother-Child River to."

The Eldest Senior Sister's expression grew increasingly strange. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, no words came out.

Lu Yang noticed the change in the Eldest Senior Sister's expression. Ever since he entered the sect, the Eldest Senior Sister had always maintained a countenance devoid of joy or sorrow. Lu Yang had never seen her expression change so richly before.

Lu Yang did not quite dare to ask what the Eldest Senior Sister was thinking.

"Although we cannot find the Mother-Child River, we can find the Twin River. I had the Second-in-Command secretly pluck two strands of hair from those two young lasses. Through their hair, I can trace back to the source and locate the Twin River."

Lu Yang opened his hand, and two strands of hair lay in his palm.

The Immortal Fairy pinched an obscure and difficult ancient hand seal. This was a technique known only to her, one that even the four ancient Immortals did not possess.

The moment the hand seal touched the two strands of hair, they transformed into a wisp of curling green smoke, drifting into the distance.

"Let's go! Follow this smoke and we will find the Twin River!" With a grand wave of her hand, the Immortal Fairy dashed out at the front, calling for everyone to follow her.

The crowd followed.

The green smoke drifted for nearly half a day, its speed slowing slightly after passing by a temple.

As Lu Yang walked past, he caught sight of the temple's name: Gulin Temple.

Gulin Temple was situated at the foot of a mountain, with continuous, rolling peaks rising behind it.

The green smoke flew over a dozen mountain peaks before hovering indecisively within a forest of maple leaves.

"Why has it stopped moving?"

The Immortal Fairy explained: "The Twin River is inside a hidden realm. The green smoke cannot directly enter a hidden realm; we need to find the entrance ourselves."

"Judging by the tracks of the smoke's loop, the hidden realm should be right here."

The Immortal Fairy took two steps forward, pointing at an unremarkable large boulder within the maple forest.

The green smoke kept circling nearby, and the center of its rotation was this very boulder.

With a flick of her finger, the Eldest Senior Sister shot out a strand of spiritual energy, injecting it into the boulder. The smoother side of the giant rock transformed into a black vortex.

"This is the place."

Without hesitation, the Eldest Senior Sister threw the two Half-Immortals directly into the vortex before stepping into it herself. The Immortal Fairy, Lu Yang, and Meng Jingzhou entered the vortex in close succession.

As everyone entered, the black vortex vanished, and the giant stone returned to its original appearance. No one could tell that through it, one could find the Twin River, a creation of an Immortal.

"What dense spiritual qi!"

Lu Yang was astonished. As he stepped onto the lawn, a wide river wound its way through the landscape, its source unknown. The river's surface radiated a shimmering spiritual qi that irrigated this hidden realm. The vegetation along the riverbank was lush; ancient trees, shrubs, and green grass... all were spiritual plants that had long since gone extinct in the present world.

Moreover, these spiritual plants all grew in pairs. Because they were nourished by the Twin River, their medicinal potency was vastly superior to their original state.

Growing upon the river's surface were even Twin Twin-Blossom Lotuses, which could aid a person in forming a first-grade Core.

The Twin Twin-Blossom Lotus was originally a product of the Twin River, initially named the Sister Flowers, but later renamed to its current title by the Ying Tian Immortal.

The two sovereigns felt it even more acutely. They sensed the grand power contained within the river—this was the purest charm of the Dao. Merely comprehending it by the riverbank would be of immense help to them in condensing their Dao Fruits.

"Yes, this is the Twin River created by this Immortal."

The Immortal Fairy said cheerfully as she pointed at the river. The environment here was exactly the same as it had been in the ancient era, filling her with nostalgia.

"To think it has been preserved so completely here." The Immortal Fairy was slightly surprised. This was practically an entire Twin River; it was hard to imagine it could be preserved so fully during that battle which reshaped the continent.

"Fairy, is that your cave dwelling over there?"

Lu Yang pointed to a stone chamber by the riverbank. Written upon the chamber in the ancient language was "Immortal Residence." Judging from its scale, it was likely only a portion of the actual residence.

"It really is. But that shouldn't be; this Immortal didn't establish an Immortal Residence by the Twin River."

The Immortal Fairy muttered to herself, then suddenly came to a realization: "I understand. It must be that lass Qing He who helped this Immortal preserve it!"

"It's just that things were too chaotic back then, so she couldn't preserve it all!"

Whether it was the Twin River or the Immortal Residence, both had been preserved by Qing He during a moment of crisis.

"Let's see what is inside."

The gates of the Immortal Residence were tightly locked. Using her soul as a key, the Immortal Fairy opened the dwelling.

The interior of the residence felt as though time had stood still, pristine and spotless, as if the master of the house had not gone far. Various books were displayed on the bookshelves, their covers looking brand new.

"This is the place where this Immortal used to read."

Lu Yang noticed a booklet standing out on the bookshelf, titled "Quotations of the Immortals."

Driven by curiosity, he took it down and flipped it open, only for profound, ancient language to meet his eyes:

This seat was born in accordance with heaven itself!

Those who defy this immortal shall be slain!

How dare mere mortals oppose an immortal!

Within this seat lies a terrifying power; do not force me to unseal it!

The Immortal Invincible had even thoughtfully annotated at the back exactly who had uttered these words—the Heavenly Immortal, the Ninefold Immortal, the Qilin Immortal, the Epoch Immortal, the whole crew was there.

Lu Yang silently closed the book, returned it to its original place, and pretended he had never seen it.
