Chapter 680: Immortal Fairy's Cultivation Insights

At this very moment, Lu Yang wished more than anything that he possessed a spell of oblivion, so that he might purge from his mind everything he had just beheld.

Though he had already come to know much of the scandalous history of the four ancient immortals, that knowledge had been garnered solely through the testimony of witnesses, leaving some room for plausible deniability.

But now, such refuge was gone; the physical evidence lay before him, and there was no guaranteeing the four ancient immortals would not silence him along with the *Quotations of the Immortals*.

"I had entirely forgotten that I left the *Quotations of the Immortals* in this very spot."

The Immortal Fairy, possessed of a grand courage born of supreme skill, retrieved the book once more from the shelf, a touch of nostalgia coloring her demeanor.

"This is a fine treasure indeed. I recall when Ying Tianxian and the others were delivering their sermons and lectures; I sat in attendance, faithfully recording the substance of their teachings."

Upon entering the secret realm, the Eldest Senior Sister had placed no constraints upon the movements of the two ancient sovereigns, who had consequently followed into the study; hearing the Fairy's words, their eyes blazed as they stared at the *Quotations of the Immortals*, their hearts pounding wildly.

Good heavens, this book actually contained the teachings of the immortals; how infinitesimally precious the insights of an immortal must be—a priceless treasure beyond measure!

Yet, having been reduced to mere captives, they could only covet it with their eyes, daring not to stretch forth a hand to take it.

Judging by the words of this fairy, could it be that she was not Ying Tianxian after all?

Then who could she be... wait, could she be the Lord of the Heavenly Court, Sovereign Dou?

The two half-immortals finally deduced the identity of the Immortal Fairy, and their knees began to tremble violently.

"Is this the study?"

The Eldest Senior Sister also took notice of the Fairy’s cave dwelling, stepping inside to behold an overwhelming abundance of ancient texts; how precious such primordial volumes were, for any single one offered at auction would provoke a frantic bidding war.

"Indeed, this is the place where this Immortal reads and pursues her studies."

Lu Yang looked upon the mostly pristine condition of the volumes and reflected that the Immortal Fairy must truly cherish books, seeing as she could scarcely bear to read them.

The Eldest Senior Sister noticed this as well, though she refrained from commenting.

The study held a complete registry of genres, ranging from the customs and geography of antiquity to profound manuals of cultivation; nothing was lacking, and even the insights of half-immortals were numerous, including the recorded comprehension of Zhu Tian, Jiang Lianyi, and their peers.

These insights had been offered up willingly by the ancient half-immortals, primarily to swell the numbers upon the shelves, for the Immortal Fairy herself disdained to glance at them.

As the supreme and foremost immortal of antiquity, she trod a path never before walked by man; what need had she to draw upon the cultivation experiences of others?

There was even an *Encyclopedia of Cookery*, penned, naturally, by Ying Tianxian.

"So this is where you all were." Meng Jingzhou, who had been exploring the secret realm, turned around only to find everyone gone; a cold sweat had broken out across his brow in panic, and he only breathed a sigh of relief upon spotting the gathering in the study.

"How is it? Have you found anything good here?" Meng Jingzhou nudged Lu Yang with his elbow.

"I have."

Lu Yang placed the *Quotations of the Immortals* into Meng Jingzhou’s hands and said with great solemnity: "This immortal text records the words and deeds of the four ancient immortals; it contains vast worlds within, aligning perfectly with the Great Dao. In days of old, the ancient half-immortals and those of the Tribulation Transmutation Stage lined up to study it. Read it well."

"To think such a marvelous thing existed!" Meng Jingzhou exclaimed in astonishment, thinking that Lu Yang was truly a loyal brother, never forgetting him when fortune smiled.

Meng Jingzhou flipped through a couple of pages and returned it to Lu Yang.

"Why have you stopped reading?"

"It is written entirely in the ancient tongue; I cannot decipher a word."

"...When the opportunity arises, I shall teach you the ancient script."

"Strange, where has this Immortal's diary gone?"

The Immortal Fairy paced about the study, yet failed to locate her personal chronicle.

"Fairy, you actually kept a diary?" Lu Yang asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Naturally. With so many amusing occurrences in the world, this Immortal must of course record them in a diary."

"What is written within it?"

The Immortal Fairy regarded Lu Yang with a look of deep suspicion: "How could a thing like a diary be casually shown to another?"

Lu Yang curled his lip, noting her fierce protectiveness: "It has likely vanished. After all, a diary bears too strong a trace of your personal character, Fairy; it is not something that could be blamed on Ying Tianxian merely by altering a name. Since the mastermind behind the scenes sought to erase your very existence, any diary proving your presence would naturally have to be obliterated as well."

The Immortal Fairy flew into a great rage: "Abominable! This Immortal shall surely have her vengeance for this grievance!"

The two great sovereigns trembled in absolute terror, consumed by fear, sensing that the conversation between these two harbored earth-shattering secrets of antiquity; would they be silenced to keep the secret?

"Has this Immortal's own comprehension of cultivation vanished as well?"

The Immortal Fairy similarly failed to find the records of her own insights.

"It appears it was also erased by that hidden perpetrator. After all, this Immortal possesses unparalleled talent; if my cultivation insights were credited to Ying Tianxian, it would simply appear too fraudulent—Ying Tianxian lacked the capability entirely!"

Lu Yang regarded the Immortal Fairy with a peculiar expression: "Fairy, you actually possessed insights regarding cultivation?"

"How could I not? This Immortal penned a thick volume of insights, detailing everything from how to amuse oneself thoroughly to how to sleep with the utmost comfort; it was written with meticulous precision, containing not only classical citations but also this Immortal’s own lived experiences."

Lu Yang felt that if these cultivation insights were lost, then so be it; between losing a book and losing one's dignity, one had to choose.

The Eldest Senior Sister, however, expressed deep agreement with the Immortal Fairy’s perspective: "Senior possesses a pure, innocent heart, which is a rare virtue indeed. It is more difficult still to remain like a child even after achieving immortality. These cultivation insights were undoubtedly intended to teach the world how to preserve that pure heart; Senior’s righteousness is noble indeed."

It was as though the Immortal Fairy had discovered a kindred spirit, her smile widening so much her mouth could scarcely close: "Little Girl Yun, you understand me well!"

Then, turning a fierce countenance upon Lu Yang, the Immortal Fairy snapped: "Did you hear that? This Immortal possesses what is called a pure heart. In the future, you had best learn well from this Immortal!"

Lu Yang: "..."

The Immortal Fairy waved her hand: "Little Girl Yun, gather everything up and transport this entire secret realm back to our sect."

Once moved back, she could leisurely wander through it at her own pace.

From the Twin Rivers to the study, everything within the secret realm belonged to her; moving it back directly was an action that even the Great Xia could find no fault with.

"Very well."

The company departed from the secret realm; by now, night had fallen, shrouded the mountain forests in pitch blackness.

The Eldest Senior Sister extended her right hand, pressing it against a massive boulder, which began to emit a faint, shimmering light; when she withdrew her hand, a winding miniature river had appeared within her palm.

This was the true manifestation of the universe within a palm.

"Let us depart."

With the matter concluded, the group journeyed back to the Daoist Sect.

As they neared their destination, the two sovereigns finally realized that the place they were approaching was the Daoist Sect.

Did the Ancient Heavenly Court lie hidden within the Daoist Sect?

Or was it that the Daoist Sect had originally been established by the Ancient Heavenly Court?

Whichever the truth might be, it was testament enough to the brilliant methods of the Ancient Heavenly Court.

The Eldest Senior Sister first deposited the Twin Rivers secret realm beside the Fairy's kitchen on Tianmen Peak, before escorting the two sovereigns toward the Prisoner Peak.

Had she not arrived in time, these two would surely have wrought the destruction of Spring River City; they could not be absolved.

Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou, meanwhile, returned to their respective peaks.

"Little Yun has returned? Whom did you apprehend during this excursion?" the child-like Patriarch inquired with a genial smile; he had already come to terms with his position—as both an elder and a master of the Tribulation Transmutation Stage, he could not allow himself to lose composure over the capture of a few ancient prisoners.

The Eldest Senior Sister deposited the two figures upon the ground, introducing the spoils of her journey: "I have captured two half-immortals; one is known as the Sovereign of Nightmare, and the other as the Sovereign of the Void."

The child Patriarch clutched at his heart, nearly failing to catch his breath.

The second update will arrive at eleven o'clock.
