Chapter 936: Does Your Immortal Palace Need the Twin Rivers?
Lu Yang enjoyed considerable popularity within the Laurel Divine Palace. As Lan Ting guided him through the grounds, the palace disciples were essentially touring Lu Yang in return. Wherever they went, a crowd of disciples would inevitably gather, peppering him with questions until he felt akin to some rare, exotic creature.
Though, in the Laurel Divine Palace, male cultivators truly were a rare species.
"Enough, enough. Do not forget this is the hour of cultivation; do not allow yourselves to be distracted." A steady voice rang out, instantly silencing the chattering disciples, who obediently returned to their respective positions to resume their training.
A cold-faced female cultivator approached, a pitch-black ring resting upon her middle finger.
"Senior Sister Jing Hong," Lan Ting greeted with a bow, and Lu Yang followed her lead, offering his own.
"Greetings, Senior Sister Jing Hong."
Returning the gesture, Senior Sister Jing Hong spoke, "You must be the rumored Junior Brother Lu Yang."
"Junior Sister Lan Ting, if you are to show Junior Brother Lu Yang around our palace, do so with greater discretion. The Dao hearts of our junior sisters are not yet firm. Seeing Junior Brother Lu Yang's exceptional bearing, they inevitably grew excited, rendering today's lessons entirely wasted."
"Understood."
It seemed there were indeed disciples like Senior Sister Jing Hong who harbored no interest in Lu Yang whatsoever.
Once they had walked beyond her line of sight, Lu Yang asked quietly, "Does Senior Sister Jing Hong not seem particularly welcoming of me?"
Lan Ting smiled brightly and replied, "Senior Brother, do not think her heartless. She is simply like this with everyone."
"She is the disciple of the Third Elder, highly skilled in the art of artifact refining. She entered the sect before me and possesses a Mid-Stage Divine Transformation cultivation. While her natural talent for cultivation may not be the absolute finest, she is meticulous and steady, earning her great favor among the elders."
Lu Yang nodded. He had worried he might have offended her in some way, but it was a relief to know that was not the case.
On the other side, once Senior Sister Jing Hong was certain no one was around, she gently rubbed her ring and sent a thread of her consciousness into its inner space.
"Master, will this suffice?"
An ancient, authoritative voice echoed within the space of the ring: "This is enough."
"I sense that this Lu Yang is far from simple; he must harbor a grand secret. You should maintain your distance and take care not to entangle yourself with him, lest karma be generated. I fear that if you intertwine with him too deeply, he might perceive my presence, forcing my premature awakening and plunging the ages into turmoil."
"Understood."
...
"This is the Scripture Repository. Would you care to step inside for a look, Senior Brother?" Lan Ting led Lu Yang to a wooden tower nearly buried under heavy snow, looking as though it might collapse under the weight at any moment.
Yet this was the Scripture Repository, standing unyielding for a hundred thousand years, and it would hardly fall to a mere snowfall.
"Let us go in." So long as he was not tasked with composing techniques, Lu Yang thoroughly enjoyed wandering through places like this.
The layout of the Divine Palace's repository was largely similar to that of the Dao Seeking Sect, differing only in the selection of texts collected.
The shelves here held mostly cultivation techniques intended for female cultivators, with few meant for males; even those that existed were fundamentally tied to the gathering of Lunar Force.
"What is this, *The Fairy's Tribulation*?" Lu Yang casually pulled out an ancient volume, flipping through a few pages with a bizarre expression.
The contents of this book seemed rather improper; was it really displayed so openly in the Scripture Repository?
Even the *Dragon and Phoenix Transformation* back at their Dao Seeking Sect was hidden away discreetly.
Moreover, judging by the wear on the book, it had been read a considerable number of times.
The Immortal Fairy scanned it with her divine sense, her face instantly flushing crimson. She stuttered, unable to find words, before finally spitting out two syllables in sheer exasperation.
"Indecent!"
Lan Ting's cheeks crimsoned slightly, and she let out a dry cough to break the awkwardness. "This is an ancient text brought back by Ancestor Chui Yue a hundred thousand years ago. The stories within possess significant reference value. It was placed here in hopes that posterity would take warning from the tales and prevent such things from happening to themselves."
Aside from *The Fairy's Tribulation*, Lu Yang noticed many other bizarre titles, likely sharing similar contents, all presumably brought back by Ancestor Chui Yue.
There were also many empty spaces where books should have been, presumably borrowed by the palace disciples.
In any case, Ancestor Chui Yue's various actions had indeed heightened the vigilance of the palace disciples, allowing them to preserve their purity. Lu Yang had never heard of any disciple from this palace descending the mountain to elope with a worldly man.
"There are still so many ancient texts here," Lu Yang remarked with a smile. He was deeply familiar with ancient texts, even more so than with sword techniques.
"The Divine Palace did not possess so many ancient texts in the past. It is only due to recent demand that the palace purchased a great number from the Imperial Academy."
"A demand?"
"Yes. Senior Brother, you must know that the ancient immortal, Immortal Ying Tian, created the Mother-Child River, correct?"
Lu Yang wore a peculiar expression, uncertain whether he should claim to know or not.
"Some disciples dislike the idea of romance but still wish to have a child. Previously, there was no way, but now that they know of the Mother-Child River's existence, they have begun searching for it by any means necessary. Looking for clues within ancient texts is one such method."
"Have they found anything?" Lu Yang asked on behalf of the Immortal Fairy.
Lan Ting shook her head in disappointment. "Nothing at all."
"Senior Brother, you are well-versed in ancient lore. Do you happen to know where the Mother-Child River might be?"
"I do not."
Lu Yang suddenly recalled that while he did not know the location of the Mother-Child River, he did know where the Twin River was—it was right atop Heaven Gate Peak.
"Oh, so they actually need the Twin River? Why don't we just move it over to them?" the Immortal Fairy offered generously. It was not as if anyone drank from it on Heaven Gate Peak anyway, so it might as well be gifted to a place like the Divine Palace where it was needed.
Lu Yang gave it some serious thought. It seemed entirely feasible to gift the Twin River to the Divine Palace without exposing anything sensitive.
"Actually, while I do not know where the Mother-Child River is, I do know the location of the Twin River."
"The Twin River?" Lan Ting had never heard of such a thing.
Lu Yang pondered for a moment, finding the origin of the Twin River somewhat difficult to explain. "The Twin River is just like the Mother-Child River, both created by Immortal Ying Tian. The difference is that a woman drinking from the Mother-Child River can only bear a single child, whereas drinking from the Twin River results in twins."
"The exceedingly rare Twin Twin-Lotus is a product of the Twin River."
Lan Ting had not expected another immortal treasure like the Twin River to exist. The capabilities of an immortal were truly profound and unpredictable.
Yet, why would Immortal Ying Tian create a Twin River?
"Then, where is this Twin River located?"
"It was discovered not long ago in an ancient secret realm. It is currently at our Dao Seeking Sect. If your Divine Palace requires it, I can request some of the river water from the sect."
Lan Ting rejoiced upon hearing this, thrilled by the unexpected boon. If the Divine Palace obtained the water of the Twin River, countless senior sisters and elders would be able to have children.
"Then I must thank you first, Senior Brother. May I report this matter to my Master?"
The Twin River was of monumental significance; Lan Ting could not make such a decision on her own.
"Of course."
When Luo Hongxia learned of the miraculous Twin River, she was equally delighted. Their Divine Palace needed such an item above all else. Consequently, the way she looked at Lu Yang shifted completely, finding him agreeable in every possible way.
"Lu Yang, if our palace disciples can become pregnant, you will be the greatest benefactor of all!"
Lu Yang: "..."
Why did those words sound so incredibly strange?
