Chapter 429: Cried from Being Scared

PS: Let us speak no more of whether the Nangong family will investigate. A faction such as theirs likely has never encountered any power greater than themselves in their own lifetime, nor indeed throughout many generations of their ancestry. Having lived in this manner for so many years, what is there left to investigate? At the very most, any rival they encounter would only be of equal standing to themselves.

Perhaps I did not express myself clearly enough... I have made a slight revision.

His method of handling things is to strike first. If there truly is a backing force, it would at most be on par with his own, and they will naturally step forward to protect their own people, thereby bringing the nature of that hidden power to light. Thereafter, he can negotiate where negotiation is due, and fight where fighting is due. Within their original circle of power, resolving matters in this fashion poses absolutely no issue.

"The Legend of Sword and Fairy 3?!" Owner Fang's face lit up with joy. Although both belonged to the realm of immortal cultivation and revolved around the Shushan Sect, the power scaling in the third installment was considerably higher than that of the first.

Before long, Owner Fang beheld a new icon appear within the computer, bearing a subtle resemblance to the first game.

"Guild Leader, what are you doing?" The timid maiden in white from the Li family was named Li Qin'er. The remaining youths of the Li family all possessed decent natural talents, though they were, of course, still far inferior to Li Lanruo, who possessed the Jade of Profound Mystery.

Li Qin'er, along with Li Wuya and Li Lanruo, stood gathered behind Fang Qi, watching his operations on the computer with expressions of utter bewilderment.

Fang Qi removed his virtual headset and inquired, "Would any of you like to give it a try?"

The three of them looked at one another in hesitation, until finally, Li Lanruo spoke, "Let me try."

In any case, he would not harm her.

With those words, she took the virtual headset and placed it over her head just as Fang Qi instructed.

Soon, a circular mirror crafted from green jade with a bluestone base materialized upon the large screen. Around the periphery of the mirror surface lay options such as "New Story" and "Old Memories."

Within the mirror, shrouded in swirling mists and clouds, there seemed to lie the dwellings of immortals, grand palaces, and vast pavilions. Above the mirror surface, several large characters were inscribed: "The Legend of Sword and Fairy 3."

"What kind of object is this?!" The group grew even more curious.

Following the steps Fang Qi outlined, Li Lanruo selected the new story.

In an instant, the scenery before her shifted, and Li Lanruo felt as though she were soaring through the clouds and mists, seemingly entering into the very depths of the mirror.

She could not help but cry out in alarm (the external communication setting was enabled by default): "Guild Leader, what... what is happening?! I seem to have entered inside this mirror!"

"What...? Entered inside the mirror?!" Not only Li Lanruo, but even Li Qin'er and Elder Li Wuya behind her felt a sudden surge of panic. "What is going on? Can you still come out?"

"Do not speak so much, you may consider it a form of virtual space," Fang Qi explained, utilizing a terminology they could comprehend.

"!!?? A virtual space?!" Elder Li Wuya was instantly struck with great astonishment. "Could it be a secret realm?!"

Yet, looking all around, they saw nothing of a secret realm at all. Could it be that one could enter simply through this square magical artifact?!

This magical artifact was actually so formidable?!

It completely surpassed the bounds of his understanding.

"Do not panic, Lanruo, we are all right behind you!" Li Wuya spoke in haste. "What do you see inside?"

He watched the screen where, as the clouds and mists drifted into a blur, the perspective swiftly advanced. It felt as though they were treading upon an auspicious cloud of immense speed. When the mists finally parted, they beheld a tree of such colossal proportions that even the word 'towering' could not describe its majesty.

Compared to its magnitude, a human was but like a single leaf.

The bright sun shone brilliantly in the sky, and as the viewpoint continued to drift, it seemed to float toward the highest heavens. Above the dense clouds, floating mountains rose in tiers, standing upon a sea of clouds. Immortal courts and palace halls stood in vast numbers, and beneath the reflection of auspicious immortal light, it truly felt as though they had arrived in the world of the gods.

"Where... where is this?!" Li Lanruo widened her eyes as she gazed at the scene before her. The sight could no longer be described merely as shocking. Could this be the immortal realm?!

The two individuals behind her, watching the screen, were also filled with disbelief: "This... Lanruo, you... you have gone inside?!"

"I..." Li Lanruo felt as though she were losing all coherence. "I see it! This place is just like the immortal realm! Can you all see it?"

She reached out to touch, and every cloud, every immortal palace, felt so genuine—so real that it was no longer possible to distinguish between reality and illusion.

"We see it too!" Elder Li Wuya’s old face bore a deep expression of intense excitement as he pointed at the screen, murmuring, "This... this?! Just what is going on here?!"

"Sister Lanruo!" A sudden cry of alarm rang out. "Watch your back!"

Upon a patch of floating cloud, where celestial winds swept wild, the silhouette of a figure dressed in blue-purple immortal robes appeared on the screen. He wore a purple-gold crown, and his hair and robes fluttered in the wind. In the distant sky before him, the clouds layer upon layer, the sunlight cascaded from the heights above, as though crowning each of those white clouds with a golden coronet.

This man held an immortal sword, and the aura radiating from his entire being made him seem like a true, legendary immortal!

Subsequently, a cry of surprise was heard as the man turned his gaze. Wherever his eyes fell, a floating mound seemed to be struck by an invisible force, exploding into fragments from within!

Beholding such a terrifying spectacle, cries of alarm rose one after another: "Lanruo! Run quickly!"

"...Be calm, he cannot see you." Fang Qi's face darkened, and he could only explain to them once more.

"It seems... he really cannot see me!" On the screen, they indeed saw that the valiant man in immortal robes and a golden crown paid no heed to the place where Li Lanruo was. The focus of his gaze was a man clad in red-gold armor, majestic and domineering, who appeared seven parts human and three parts demon.

He resembled a cold, aloof king, or perhaps a supreme demon god. Even a mere shred of the aura radiating from him, or a casual glance, could make one feel an incomparably terrifying pressure. Even if it were just a trace, it was a power that mortals could not bear at all!

Li Lanruo's small mouth was open wide enough to fit an egg, while the two onlookers behind her felt as though a bolt of lightning had flashed through their minds: "Just who are these people?!"

Demon Respecter Chonglou!

Divine General Feipeng!

An earth-shattering, deity-weeping battle between god and demon unfolded right here in the New Immortal Realm.

Wherever the sword light passed, immortal towers and palace halls were sliced apart like bean curd, and divine statues as massive as mountains were split in two, collapsing on the spot!

One possessed demonic power that had reached the pinnacle, where even a slight aftershock could reduce everything around to fine powder. The other possessed a sword momentum like a rainbow, shaking the heavens and moving the earth. Who among those present had ever witnessed such a terrifying battle?!

For a time, it felt as though an invisible force had gripped their throats; their mouths were wide open, yet they were completely unable to utter a word.

To say nothing of Li Lanruo, who was experiencing it firsthand. The insignificance of man, the vastness of heaven and earth, and the mighty power of gods and demons were felt to the absolute limit in that single instant. Before her eyes, thousands of sword lights rained down, and demonic light resembled the destruction of the world. As the two converged, the heavens rent and the earth split, and a fear arising from the depths of her heart and born of instinct began to spread through her mind.

Like a startled rabbit, she tore off the virtual headset, pointing at the screen with tears streaming down her face as she cried out, "Guild Leader, what was that?! It was too terrifying!"

She was practically frightened to tears!

Owner Fang cast her a speechless glance: "No wonder you all fare so poorly. Can you not be a bit braver? It is just immortals fighting, why all the fuss?"

With those words, he pulled a pack of tissues from his pocket and handed it to her: "Wipe your face first, and watch how this owner plays."
