Chapter 680: The Heavy Responsibility of Saving Humanity Is Left to You!

"Hey, hey, what class did you all choose?" On the other side, many student players at the Cloud Ocean City branch's Haotian Academy had clearly opted for the Alliance faction.

"A mage, of course," Xun Yuan, the prodigy of the Xun family, remarked. "Is that even a question?"

"I'm planning to play a human warrior. Yue, what about you?" Yue Bai and Mu Qing, two girls who shared a close bond with Jiang Xiaoyuan within the academy, had already made their decisions.

At that moment, Jiang Xiaoyuan glanced at their screens before turning her gaze to the monitor of the large white deer beside her. "Little Bell, what on earth did you pick?"

"I saw they were all choosing Orcs and Taurens, so I picked a Tauren too!" the great white deer complained in its usual sweet, childlike voice. "If they can have Taurens, why can't they have Deer-taurens?"

Naturally, the entire contingent of the demon race had aligned themselves with the Horde.

And just then...

"Oh? Elder Su is streaming again!" Evidently, there were still plenty of players who had been unable to secure a machine—some were disciples who had journeyed from the distant Three Saint Sect, while others were simply patrons from different branches who couldn't find an empty seat. For now, they had to content themselves with watching the stream to satisfy their cravings.

When creating a character in World of Warcraft, players could only select a basic facial style and make minor adjustments. The humans and night elves possessed entirely distinct aesthetics of beauty, and the streaming Su Tianji looked utterly conflicted. "Hey, could you all help me choose? Which one do you think looks better?"

"I'm out, I'm out!"

"Useless Elder Su, everyone else is already several levels ahead, and she's still on the character creation screen."

"What a casual streamer."

"Look at the racial traits first, alright! Check out how other streamers prioritize the synergy between traits and classes!"

"Why not just pick a Gnome?"

Su Tianji snapped, "...Oh, you haters! I'm not asking you anymore!"

...

Meanwhile, far away in the new branch at Canglan City, a certain canine-headed beastman appeared far more professional.

"Welcome to the broadcast brought to you by Mr. De."

"Word has it that this is a mystic realm spanning two entire continents. It truly showcases the mysterious technology of the Eastern Continent. I wonder if we will encounter friends from other continents within this realm?" The beastman spoke as he set up a magical crystal stand beside him. "I haven't quite learned how to operate the high-end magical items in this shop yet, but everyone should still be able to see the screen. As you can see, I've chosen a bull-headed beastman—this should be an Orc, right? Hiss... if this realm has Orcs, why aren't there any of our own beastman tribe? It's rather strange..."

"Oh... wait, that's not right. How come this green-skinned one is the Orc? Which tribe does this belong to...?" I don't recall anyone in our beastman race looking quite like this...

"However, I believe we should focus on understanding their racial traits. It seems every race possesses unique talents. Let us examine them first..."

Evidently, the audience watching the magical projection was vast. Most of them were enthusiasts of various cultivation realms who frequently organized discussions, typically communicating via magical letters or projections.

Naturally, most preferred magical letters, as the cost was far more reasonable.

Beside a window sill adorned with violets, a peculiar quill pen seemed to possess a mind of its own, automatically scratching neat characters across a pristine white sheet of paper.

The top contained the dialogue, followed by signatures—which were, of course, pseudonyms.

"What am I seeing? Did I actually just watch Mr. De enter an unknown mystic realm?" — from 'Little Mage Andrei'

"It is World of Warcraft, supposedly produced by the 'Blizzard Workshop' of the Eastern Continent. It is no obscure little realm, my friend." — from 'The Sea of Skies Knights'

"I also heard rumors that the sheer scale of this mystic realm defies imagination, featuring two massive continents. But surely, that must be an exaggeration?" — from 'Wolf-Head'

"The possibility cannot be ruled out." — from 'Platinum Mage'

...

Every race in World of Warcraft possessed entirely distinct racial traits that could, to a certain extent, alter the combat effectiveness of a given class. For instance, the Night Elves' Shadowmeld was an instant-cast ability that allowed the user to slip into the shadows upon activation, reducing the chance for enemies to detect them.

This effect persisted until the player took action or moved.

Shadowmeld could also stack with the stealth abilities of Night Elf Rogues or Druids, making it an excellent choice for those two classes.

Ultimately, under the guidance of the spectating crowd, Su Tianji—who intended to play a caster class—chose a human mage and entered the game.

Even though she had lingered quite a while on the character creation screen, by this time, the majority of players—including the elves, dwarves, and orcs—had already entered the game world.

"The humans of Stormwind are a proud and resilient race." Su Tianji was currently watching the human cinematic upon entering the game. Before her eyes stood a sturdy fortress constructed entirely of massive stone blocks. High towers loomed ahead, and grand stone statues of humans, dwarves, and elves were revealed one after another. Accompanied by a passionate, stirring voice recounting the history of Stormwind, the entire fortress slowly unveiled itself to all the human players. "Though the invasion of the Burning Legion destroyed its sister kingdom of Lordaeron, the defenders of Stormwind stand firm, refusing to yield to any evil forces that dare threaten their homeland... It is humanity's last bastion..."

With the rising swell of the rousing music, the voice grew even more powerful: "With the steadfast support of their allies, the armies of Stormwind fight the savage Horde on distant battlefields. In their absence, the duty of defending Stormwind falls upon the shoulders of its citizens!"

The camera perspective slowly swept away from Stormwind City, soaring toward Northshire Abbey, before settling upon a newly created, beautiful human female mage. "Now is an age of heroes, where the greatest chapter of human civilization will be written by you!"

"Oh my! Isn't that talking about me?!" Su Tianji felt as though someone had suddenly patted her shoulder, thrusting the heavy responsibility of humanity's rise directly onto her. "So it turns out I'm actually this incredible?!"

Her heart swelled with an inexplicable surge of passion. "Will I get to say something like 'My fate is mine to command, not heaven's,' just like in Legend of Sword and Fairy later on?"

She felt entirely certain that she was destined to accomplish something earth-shattering on this continent in the future. Just the thought of it filled her with excitement!

...

Meanwhile, the elves were also watching the cinematic that played after creating a Night Elf or Forsaken character. Though many players had already plunged into the game, a good number of dwarves and orcs were clearly still engrossed in their own opening cinematics...
