Chapter 748: For the Alliance! (Asking for Monthly Tickets)

What is that?!" Even seated at the grand summit of nations, these figures, who held the most exalted status even among the Saint-tier masters, could not help but let a tremor slip into their voices.

For what was perhaps the very first time in history, they were utterly unable to suppress the emotions deep within their hearts, and they displayed them upon their faces quite without disguise—or rather, they were simply incapable of hiding them.

Even the several commanders of the Shadow Legion were staring unblinkingly at the scene unfolding before them.

Just a moment prior, they had not even entertained the thought that such a bizarre, incomprehensible sight could ever manifest upon this field of slaughter!

"What happened?!" World Mage Hermatton turned his horrified gaze toward Saint Dulan, demandingly. "What did they do?!"

As though unable to believe his own eyes, he widened his gaze once more to stare at the scene cast by the spell-projection, confirming the reality of it a second time.

And at that very moment, across the vast expanse of the battlefield, the soldiers of the Human Alliance who had previously fallen had almost all risen to their feet; the force, which had dwindled to but a few standing men, had swelled in a mere breath of time into a grand, surging army of iron and steel!

Amidst the blinding radiance, a figure finally came into clear view: a majestic paladin with eyes of burning wrath, holding a warhammer aloft in one hand and a heavy, sacred libram in the other, standing beneath the illumination of the Holy Light like a towering deity. "I am Uther the Lightbringer!"

"A miracle—! This is a miracle—!" From the very depths of their souls, a profound reverence welled up in every member of the Human Alliance army, as they offered their highest respect within the presence of this grand marvel.

"My goodness!" Upon beholding this veteran knight with grizzled, brownish-gray hair, clad in blue-and-gold plate armor adorned with the prominent crest of the Silver Hand, even the collective Alliance players broke into startled cries; this legendary figure, though he had only ever appeared as a playable character in Warcraft, and had never shown his true self in World of Warcraft, had his legendary tales whispered in every corner of the Alliance!

This was the leader of the Knights of the Silver Hand, one of the original five paladins of the order alongside Tirion Fordring, and the tutor to Arthas himself.

Bearing the title of the Lightbringer, he was, in the legends passed down by word of mouth through the Alliance, the man closest to the God of Light!

"So, it is merely another human after all... nothing but a bluff!" High above the Shadow Legion, that supreme entity swung the colossal sword in its grasp, roaring, "All forces, advance! Charge!"

Not only did the Shadow Legion warriors on the ground press forward, but in the heavens above, countless monstrous beasts circling the heights led the vanguard, followed closely by more than a dozen fiends and alien creatures emanating terrifying auras; they roared as they blotted out the sky, threatening to drown the encircled humans, dwarves, and elves alike!

Uther patted the gryphon beneath him, and with a great flap of its wings, it soared into the high sky (though mounts in the game were usually warhorses, World of Warcraft had always featured gryphon transportation and flying mounts, making it perfectly natural for the character to ride one). "We are blessed by the Holy Light; all darkness shall scatter!"

Though they had yet to fully grasp the situation, the sight of this legendary hero sent a surge of adrenaline through the countless Alliance players, who raised their weapons high in absolute exhilaration and bellowed, "For the Alliance—!"

"For the Alliance—!" Beginning with those first few scattered voices, the cry gradually grew louder and more deafening.

Even the soldiers of the Mountain Principalities, and King Layton himself, seemed swept up by the infectious atmosphere and joined in the roaring shout.

For they realized that within this grand miracle, they and their principality had been delivered from ruin!

And the soldiers of the Morning Light Empire and the other kingdoms shouted along in turn, tens of thousands of voices rising together, nearly splitting the battlefield as the heavens and the earth trembled in response.

Even when facing the Shadow Legion that had previously brought them to the brink of total annihilation, all fear seemed to have vanished from their hearts as they launched a reckless, death-defying charge toward the front.

The clash of the two armies was like two great tides reaching for the sky, colliding violently into one another as a bloody slaughter commenced.

From the heavens to the earth, blood rained down upon the masses without a moment's pause, and countless souls fell in the ferocious collision.

"Druids, Tranquility!" Witnessing such a spectacle, Elder Xivi cried out, and a vast number of elven Druids began to step onto the frontline battlefield.

The gloomy sky was suddenly torn open by a massive expanse of silver-white radiance.

Centering around the positions of several elves, the silver-white, moonlike light of life spread across the surrounding battlefield with astonishing speed.

It fell like a gentle, nourishing rain, drenching the parched earth.

The warriors who had fallen severely wounded on the front lines stood up once more, filled with renewed strength.

When had the allied forces of the various principalities and kingdoms ever experienced a battle like this?

They were so overwhelmed with excitement that they began to shout and jump in astonishment. "I'm alive again! I'm alive again—!"

With that, they continued to surge forward, wave after wave.

Gradually, even the main force of the Shadow Legion was forcibly torn apart into countless fissures under the ceaseless onslaught of these allied forces.

The once-insufferable host of the Shadow Legion now showed signs of a total collapse across the entire line.

At this moment, upon the elven throne, a pair of beautiful and flawless eyes watched the battlefield, gleaming with a mixture of joy and wonderment. "Hmm...? Since when did our elven race become this powerful?!"

It certainly hadn't been this way just last year...

These elves had merely been taken out once by a few elders, so how did they seem entirely transformed upon their return?

At the summit of nations, Saint Dulan glared coldly at the Elven King. "Your Majesty, your elven army possessed such a hidden trump card, yet you did not bring it forth earlier, deliberately waiting instead until the army of my Radiant Holy Kingdom had retreated before revealing it. What are your intentions?!"

A touch of frost and aloofness appeared upon that countenance, which was as flawless as the moonlight in the Silvermoon Forest yet carried a hint of chilling detachment; a voice that seemed to bear a thousand years of solitude spoke softly. "Sir Dulan, this King was likewise unaware of this matter. Furthermore, when the war began, you never factored our elven race into your calculations to begin with. Now that you have retreated of your own accord, do you mean to blame us instead?"

"..." Saint Dulan's face instantly turned ashen with rage.

He then let out a cold snort. "The Shadow Legion is not so easily dealt with. I hope you all remain rational and recall your clansmen; with the magical capabilities of the elven race, our combined forces can surely defeat the Shadow Legion in one fell swoop!"

"Sir Dulan." The majestic Dwarven King pointed toward the scene within the spell-projection. "Though I know not who this Uther the Lightbringer is, do you truly believe they are going to lose?"

Just then, through the spell-projection, they witnessed countless phantoms of holy warhammers radiating outward with Uther at the center, transforming into a storm of destruction in the sky; innumerable warriors of the Shadow Alliance fell from the heavens like dumplings dropped into a pot!

"Divine Storm! It's Divine Storm!" countless Alliance players shouted in pleasant surprise.

This was the era of The Burning Crusade expansion, a high-tier skill that a Paladin could only learn upon reaching Level 70!
