Chapter 724: Take Action

Chapter 724: To Act

“What? You approve Qian Fu’s plan? Are you both insane?” Li Huowang widened his eyes, staring at Qing Wanglai.

“Of course not in the way he meant it. Since you said we can use you as bait to trap them, let’s catch them first before we even consider that.”

“You think I’m a fool? That’s exactly the same thing!”

“It’s not the same at all. Don’t worry—we won’t toss you aside like bait. If you can sense them, then you are our eyes. Would we casually discard our eyes?”

Li Huowang understood this point; they were right.

Since this matter was no longer just his personal trouble, he was now on their side.

No matter what ulterior motives they had, with such a major threat looming over them, these people would probably not—

But Li Huowang also considered something else—his own safety. He couldn’t allow himself to be used as a pawn. After all, they had known each other for a long time, while he had only just met them.

After calming Li Huowang down for a bit, Qing Wanglai continued, “Since we’re all projections, we need to determine what they’ve projected onto us. If they are indeed projections, they must abide by the rules of their world.”

“If we can identify them through ambush, we can use those rules to aid us.”

“Also, if possible, I’d like to negotiate with them. Ideally, we could resolve this issue through communication.”

“In fact, many things can be resolved through communication.”

“Fine!” Li Huowang nodded immediately. Forget about this projection nonsense for now. Since those bastards crashed a truck into him, he naturally had to strike back first.

Ideally, he wanted solid proof that they were the ones trying to harm him—not that his group had gone mad!

Only then would calling the police make any sense to others.

“Hehehe... useless, all fake, all fake...” Zhao Lei’s mocking voice reached Li Huowang’s ears. “There’s no such thing as projections, no such danger. They can’t even come up with a decent lie—it’s too pathetic.”

Frowning slightly, Li Huowang glanced at the strange man and inwardly wondered what the hell was wrong with him. All day long, he kept saying everything was fake.

Seemingly sensing Li Huowang’s confusion, Wu Qi, who was leaning against the wall smoking, spoke up: “Don’t mind him. He’s like this—he’s gone full nihilist. Just treat everything he says as nonsense.”

Li Huowang didn’t bother with him. He turned to Qing Wanglai. “How about we act tonight? They’ve become more arrogant by the day. If we delay any longer, there’ll be more trouble.”

He had no choice but to be urgent. Everyone else had already crashed a truck into him—there was no time to waste.

“No objections from me. What do you all say?” Qing Wanglai asked the others.

After checking around, Qing Wanglai raised his hand and glanced at his watch. “A few hours until dawn. If we want to act, we need to move fast.”

Once they reached consensus, everyone descended from the building. Except for Zhao Lei, who rode his motorcycle, the rest climbed into Wu Qi’s RV.

“Sister Wu, stop at the university gate. I need to grab some stuff from my dorm.”

“Money Uncle, the steering wheel is in my hands. If you want me to do anything, you should at least show some appreciation. How about stopping at a gas station and filling up my tank?”

“I really don’t get it. In this day and age, someone actually steals oil.”

“Heh, fine.”

“No problem! Didi Express 0254 is happy to serve you!” Wu Qi floored the accelerator, and the RV shot off toward Orange Island.

Wu Qi’s RV was bulky, but she drove faster than Qing Wanglai’s sports car, reaching the university gate quickly.

“Heh... fake... the dorms are closed by now... what are you going to grab? You’re all lying to me,” Zhao Lei muttered as he dismounted his motorcycle beside the RV, watching Qing Wanglai walk into the campus.

At this moment, Li Huowang was extremely tense. He clenched his fists, thinking about what would happen next.

“There’s a chance we’ll run into them. No, I need a proper weapon!”

Looking around, he opened the drawer beneath the electric stove and shoved the kitchen knife inside his jacket. His anxiety eased slightly.

“If things go bad, I’ll chop off my own head! I refuse to believe the cops will still think I’m making it up.”

Twenty minutes later, Qing Wanglai sauntered aboard the RV with his hands in his pockets. But the RV hadn’t even moved for long when it stopped again.

“They’re here! They’re here!” Li Huowang tensed completely, staring intently with one eye at the sleeping city outside. “I can feel them! They’re watching me!”

“No need to go back to the residential area! We’ll handle it out here!” Li Huowang made an immediate decision. He didn’t want to drag his family into this.

Whether or not his parents believed him, it wouldn’t be good either.

“How many are there?” Qing Wanglai asked.

“Three… no, four!”

Soon, Li Huowang, bandaged head wrapped in white gauze, stepped down from the vehicle. He leaned on Yang Na, who supported him slowly forward.

Only Yang Na, standing close, was extremely nervous, barely suppressing the urge to look down. She knew the person in her arms wasn’t Li Huowang, but rather Sister Wu wearing his clothes.

The real Li Huowang had already taken the others ahead to get out of the car, circling back to capture them.

“Is that your boyfriend?” Wu Qi whispered.

“Uh…”

“He’s got it rough. With your standards, getting someone like that is almost charity.”

As soon as Wu Qi finished speaking, a shout erupted from the alley on the left. Wu Qi shouted to Yang Na to stay put, then rushed in.

Just as she entered, she saw Li Huowang with a grotesque expression, holding a kitchen knife high, chasing after three men. “Stop! Don’t run!!”

Li Huowang was desperate. He had finally found the real ones—this time, he wouldn’t let them escape!

The sound of motorcycles roared as Zhao Lei suddenly appeared on his bike, blocking their path.

The three scattered instantly. One ran to the left, the other two dashed into the alley on the right.

Seeing Zhao Lei chase one man on his motorcycle, Li Huowang charged after the other two.

His left arm bound in a splint, plus his previous injuries, though Li Huowang was reluctant, he could only watch them disappear further into the distance.

Just when he thought he’d fail again, the two runners suddenly froze in place.

Gasping, Li Huowang approached with his knife raised, only to see Qing Wanglai standing before them, gun in hand.

But when Li Huowang saw their faces, his pupils shrank.

One of them had been to Kangning Hospital!

They had been watching him since so early!
