Chapter 726: Figure

Chapter 726: Action Figure

In the face of Li Huo Wang’s actions, Yuan Heping had just begun to pull his hand back when Li Huo Wang’s foot clamped down firmly on his wrist, leaving him utterly immobile. “No, no, no!”

At the moment the sharp blade sliced through his skin, Li Huo Wang stopped and stared intently into Yuan Heping's eyes, each word punctuated with deliberate emphasis: “Speak. Who are you, really? What is your identity? What is your purpose?”

“I… I don’t know!” Yuan Heping said with an innocent expression.

“We’ve worked together to escape from the psychiatric hospital. We took advantage of the night when no one was around to scavenge for food.”

“Bullshit! Do you really think I’d believe such a lie? Then why did you run?”

Yuan Heping looked like he was about to cry as he said, “You… you’re acting like a lunatic with a kitchen knife chasing after me from behind. Who wouldn’t run?”

Just then, Qian Fu suddenly rushed forward, glaring at him fiercely. “Stop lying! We’ve already seen through you! You’re a Martian from the zodiac sign Leo! You came to Earth to claim it as your own, didn’t you? We’ve known all along!”

Hearing this, Yuan Heping paused, glancing first at Qian Fu, then at Li Huo Wang before nodding rapidly.

“Yes, yes! I’m a Leo alien! We came to Earth to take over the planet!”

Li Huo Wang’s face twitched, his grip tightening on the knife as blood began to seep from Yuan Heping’s fingers. “Are you going to talk or not?”

“What do you want me to say?” Yuan Heping looked close to tears.

"Why were you following me? Why did you put a needle in my food? Don’t tell me you didn’t do it!"

"Fine! Fine! Fine!! You're right, I put the needle in your food, I did everything!"

"Why? What’s your goal?! Why have you been watching me!"

"Because… because…" Yuan Heping, sweating profusely, struggled to come up with a reason.

As he hesitated for too long, Qing Wangling approached calmly and helped lift Yuan Heping up.

"Don’t jump to conclusions so quickly. Perhaps he’s just a poor victim manipulated by others."

Free from Li Huo Wang’s grasp, Yuan Heping trembled behind Qing Wangling.

"Here, drink some water. Don’t be nervous."

Seeing Qing Wangling’s demeanor, Li Huo Wang was about to argue but quickly realized that he had played the white hat role; now it was time for him to play the red one.

If he didn't show strength, maybe the other side would actually crack under pressure.

To increase their chances, Li Huo Wang mimicked what he'd seen in dramas—his face twisted in fury, he raised the kitchen knife and licked the blood off it.

Clearly, his act worked. Yuan Heping cowered even further.

Not only did he retreat more, everyone else also moved away slightly, casting uneasy glances at him.

"I'm just pretending to scare him," Li Huo Wang whispered to Yang Na.

Yang Na looked worriedly at the glasses-wearing man who was talking with Qing Wangling. "Do you think he really doesn’t know anything?"

"No way. One time might be coincidence, but twice? The world is huge, and at this late hour, we happen to meet me? That’s impossible."

"He knows something—he’s just stubborn!"

"This guy must be connected to those people. Let’s see how Qing Wangling handles things. If he can’t get anything out of him, don’t blame me if I go the hard route!"

With gritted teeth, Li Huo Wang turned and started searching for tools in Zhao Lei’s messy house.

It seemed Zhao Lei kept many knives around, though not enough for Li Huo Wang’s taste, they were sufficient for now.

As Li Huo Wang began sharpening the blade against the sink edge, Qing Wangling finished questioning Yuan Heping.

A large stack of red bills was pulled from his wallet and slapped onto Yuan Heping’s palms, reducing his fear and anxiety.

“He’s just a low-ranking pawn, a fool who runs errands without knowing our world is merely a projection.”

Li Huo Wang had grown tired of such excuses. He wanted answers. “Did he mention who gave him orders?”

Qing Wangling didn’t answer immediately, instead turning toward Wang Gang, who lay motionless on the ground.

Clearly, this man had been pulling the strings all along.

When Li Huo Wang approached Wang Gang with his gleaming weapon, the latter slowly opened his eyes and gave a bitter smile.

Compared to Yuan Heping, Wang Gang clearly wasn’t pretending anymore.

"I never expected to be defeated by a girl. She looked so easy to handle, yet she turned out to be tough."

Hearing this, Li Huo Wang perked up—finally, he wasn’t faking anymore?

Others noticed too and gathered closer, eager to hear what he had to say.

“I know what you’re going to ask. I’ll tell you, but will you let me go after?”

“Yes, speak,” Li Huo Wang replied.

But Wang Gang shook his head. “It won’t help. I’m asking him.” His finger pointed toward Qing Wangling.

Qing Wangling nodded. “Fine. I agree to your request. After you speak, I’ll arrange for you to leave the country.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Gang finally spoke. “Right. We were assigned to watch Li Huo Wang. It’s our job.”

“Who sent you?”

“My boss. I never saw their faces—they communicated through notes.”

“What’s their goal? Why capture me?”

“I don’t know. They said you were the hardest to deal with.”

Hearing this, Li Huo Wang clenched his teeth tightly. “I knew it!”

“Bang!” At that moment, a sound of fabric tearing echoed from behind. Li Huo Wang turned to see Zhao Lei frantically searching for something.

“What the hell are you doing?” Wu Qi, who was smoking, asked irritably.

“I lost something! It was right here! It was fake, why would they take it?”

Li Huo Wang ignored him and continued listening to Qing Wangling, then looked at Wang Gang. “What else do you know?”

Wang Gang glanced at Zhao Lei, pondered for a bit, and said, “I also know… one of you was bribed and became a traitor.”

“What?! Who is it?”

As Li Huo Wang focused intently on Wang Gang’s mouth opening, he suddenly caught a reflection in his eyes.

Li Huo Wang spun around and saw Zhao Lei raising a bottle the size of a watermelon, swinging it violently toward his head.

"Why steal my stuff?! It’s mine!!"

Just as Zhao Lei was about to hit him, the wooden ship inside the bottle swayed with the water. A tiny wooden figure the size of an ant held a sword, which, due to momentum, pierced the glass wall.

Crack! The glass shattered, pouring water all over Li Huo Wang’s face.

Enraged, he dropped the knife and grabbed the falling wooden ship. “You dare sneak attack me!”

He gripped the wooden ship tightly and slammed it into Zhao Lei’s face. The entire model exploded into pieces.

The tiny wooden figure’s sword stabbed directly into Zhao Lei’s eye.
