Chapter 729: They
Chapter 729: They
"Enough, stop arguing. This isn't the time for bickering."
Seeing their voices rising, Qing Wanglai stepped between them. First he gave Li Huo Wang a glance, then turned to Zhao Lei.
"Zhao Lei, tell me—what do you want from Li Huo Wang? As long as it's within my power to give, we can negotiate."
"Two... two magnets! And... and my eyes!!"
Hearing this, Li Huo Wang’s anger flared instantly. The guy had just ambushed him, forcing him into retaliation.
And now he wanted his eyes back too? Clearly, he wasn’t interested in talking anymore.
At that moment, Zhao Lei suddenly stiffened his neck, staring intently at Li Huo Wang. “Do you think forgetting makes it all right? Think carefully! Think again! What is real? What is false? Don’t you find everything here too abrupt? Too fake?”
Li Huo Wang frowned deeply, irritation surging through him. His hands instinctively clutched the other man’s throat.
"Heh, trying to kill me? That’s right—murder and theft go hand in hand! What can’t you do? You’re all the same! Acting like you're not the traitor!”
Li Huo Wang’s hand dropped from the throat to the collar, lifting him up by the shirt. “What did you mean by what you said just now? Be clear! Stop playing riddles!”
“I’ve said it clearly enough! It’s just that you can’t hear or see properly! Heh, calling me sick? You’re the one who’s ill, not me!”
“I’m not sick! I was cured long ago!”
Without warning, Li Huo Wang pulled out a sharp dagger from his pocket and stabbed directly through the clothes into Zhao Lei’s abdomen before anyone could react.
Feeling the pain, Zhao Lei showed no sign of yielding, shouting furiously at Li Huo Wang: “All fake! All fake! Can’t you tell the difference? Everything is fake! Even if your illness is gone, it’s still fake!”
Upon hearing these words, Li Huo Wang looked at Zhao Lei’s one blind eye and one good eye, memories flooding back—some strange visions, some recollections of the ship.
"Why... why did I go on that boat?" Li Huo Wang struggled to recall his purpose at the time, but everything seemed lost now.
Seeing the confusion in Li Huo Wang’s eyes, Zhao Lei widened his own eyes and smirked. “You remember? You do remember, don’t you? Think hard! You were the one who started it!”
"Give everything back to me! Otherwise, don’t expect me to help you with anything!"
"You started it?" Li Huo Wang laughed nervously, pacing frantically in front of Zhao Lei.
Suddenly, he stopped, raising his index finger to press firmly against Zhao Lei’s forehead. Clenching his teeth, he growled: "Don’t feed me lies! I started it? It was clearly you! Clearly—"
He paused mid-sentence, as if forgetting what he was about to say, then resumed his pacing rapidly.
His breathing quickened as he tried desperately to remember what he’d meant to say, the world around him slightly swaying.
Then he stopped again, pointing once more at Zhao Lei, gritting his teeth. “Clearly!! Clearly it was YOU!! Clearly—”
The words were almost there, yet he couldn’t grasp them. This linguistic frustration pushed Li Huo Wang’s rage to its peak—he needed to release it!
With a twisted expression, Li Huo Wang reversed the dagger and plunged it into his own abdomen. “Aaaahhh!!”
"Huo Wang!" Seeing Yang Na rush forward, others quickly intervened, grabbing Li Huo Wang to hold him back.
"Don’t stop me! Let him think! Let him really think! If you keep doing this, he won’t remember anything!" Zhao Lei stood by, enjoying the chaos.
"Rest a bit, don’t relapse again. Leave it to me," Qing Wanglai patted Li Huo Wang’s shoulder and walked toward Zhao Lei.
Still leaning in Yang Na’s arms, Li Huo Wang continued thinking, his eyes darting wildly around, as if searching for something. He sensed that the surroundings had changed somehow—but they hadn’t.
Yang Na reached into his pocket, pulled out several pills, accepted a cup of water from Chen Hongyu, and slowly fed them to him.
Once Li Huo Wang took the medicine and calmed down, everyone gradually dispersed.
Wu Qi picked up the pills Li Huo Wang had taken, glanced at the label under the foil, then put them back.
"Wait." Li Huo Wang shook his head violently, standing up again. "Let me talk to Zhao Lei!"
"Fine, fine, rest a while. Don’t push yourself," Wu Qi hurriedly supported him, pulling him back to sit. "If you’re sick, don’t force it. Let Qing Wanglai handle this kind of thing."
"I'm not sick!"
"Alright, you're not sick, you're not sick," Chen Hongyu chimed in.
Just then, a commotion came from the door. "Hey! This isn’t the time to chat! We have to go! Someone heard the gunshot—it was pretty loud!"
Qian Fu rushed in from the doorway, passing the news to the others inside.
Hearing this, Qing Wanglai didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Zhao Lei and led everyone toward the exit.
As others followed, they locked the door and got into Wu Qi’s RV, leaving the remote place swiftly.
Wu Qi whispered something in Qing Wanglai’s ear. Qing Wanglai turned to Li Huo Wang and said, "It’s gotten a bit out of hand. To avoid suspicion, you all head back and wait."
"There’s trouble on your end—send me a message via WeChat."
Li Huo Wang glanced at Zhao Lei crouched on the ground, nodded silently. Qing Wanglai walked over and patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry. Since they’re acting secretly, they won’t dare do anything openly to you.”
Li Huo Wang looked up at him. “Give me a gun too.” After seeing his weapon, Li Huo Wang no longer cared for cold weapons.
"Okay, here you go." Qing Wanglai pulled out a gun from behind and handed it over.
Li Huo Wang took it, looked at it, and threw it aside with dissatisfaction. “I don’t want a lighter.”
“Heh,” Qing Wanglai picked up the gun and tucked it away. “You haven’t trained with this kind of thing. It’s easy to hurt yourself. I’ll teach you when I have time.”
Li Huo Wang didn’t stop the RV at the entrance of the residential complex. He parked it across the street and walked hand-in-hand with Yang Na toward the complex.
"Are you okay, Huo Wang?" Yang Na still looked worried.
"I’m fine. What could possibly happen to me? I’m perfectly fine," Li Huo Wang said, quickening his pace, though his gaze toward the RV grew cold.
"Even though we’re allies with them, don’t trust them completely. Only believe seven parts of what they say, keep three parts skeptical."
"What?"
Zhao Lei was right. Qing Wanglai was smart. While he might speak one way, what he truly thought remained a mystery known only to himself.
"As for the others’ affairs, I don’t know much. But I do know that even in a psychiatric ward, even those with mental illness will plot their own schemes."
