Chapter 751: Mental Illness
Chapter 751: Psychosis
At night, there was no one on Orange Island; during the day, there was still no one—only the spray-painted message from the black-hearted real estate developer on the wall became more prominent.
When he saw Wu Qi’s RV and Qing Wanglai's luxury car, Li Huowang knew he had arrived too late.
Following the concrete steps, Li Huowang led Yang Na toward the half-finished building. When he reached the spot, he saw everyone gathered in a circle, discussing something.
“According to what you said, this won’t work, that won’t work either—we can’t just sit back and wait,” Chen Hongyu’s voice echoed in the empty building.
Seeing Li Huowang and Yang Na approach, Qing Wanglai gave them a slight nod before continuing, “Of course we can’t just sit by and do nothing. We must act first, seize the initiative.”
“Zhao Lei has already confessed. Through him, we’ve learned their temporary base. So we must move fast—before they relocate.”
“Is that so?” Hearing this, Li Huowang’s spirits lifted instantly. After being monitored for so long, it was finally time to strike back.
“How many guns can you get?” Li Huowang eagerly asked Qing Wanglai.
“I can’t even get one gun. My money isn’t made from selling weapons.”
“Tch.” Li Huowang emptied all the stunners from his plastic bag. “These alone aren’t enough. We should also get some knives. If we could get a crossbow, that would be ideal.”
Qing Wanglai let out a light sigh, as if resigned to Li Huowang’s words. “Classmate Li Huowang, we’re still in a rule-of-law society. Can’t we not jump straight to violence whenever there’s a problem?”
“Rule of law? We give them rule of law, will they give us rule of law? People are dead—still talk about rule of law? Do you think your gun is called ‘rule of law’?”
“I’ve got it ready!!” Excited Qian Fu walked to the corner of the wall, pulled back the plastic sheet, and revealed rows of rebar sharpened to an abnormal edge.
The cement clinging to the steel showed it had been picked up from this abandoned building.
“Everyone! Hold on!” Chen Hongyu’s voice stopped the others.
“If you kill everyone at that place like you suggest, do you really think it’ll solve anything?”
“They’re part of a group—a group trying to steal our special abilities. Those people are just foot soldiers. No matter how many of them we kill, it won’t help. Who can guarantee that the real decision-makers aren’t overseas, directing operations via satellite phones?”
The assembled crowd stood frozen, stunned by Chen Hongyu’s shocking words.
“Since we’ve gained the upper hand this time, we should use this opportunity to expand our advantage and resolve this issue once and for all.”
“I agree with Sister Chen’s proposal,” Li Huowang turned to look at Qing Wanglai when he spoke.
“No matter what kind of projection they are, I don’t think things are that simple. We can’t just focus on appearances—we must look deeper into the core.”
“No matter what form their projections take, as long as we deal with the root cause, they’ll vanish naturally.”
Li Huowang glanced between Chen Hongyu and Qing Wanglai. “You say we shouldn’t act directly. Then tell me—what exactly do you propose? There are so many people. Are you going to convince them to surrender with words alone?”
Qing Wanglai pulled out a test tube from his pocket, its liquid sloshing as he moved.
“Highly volatile, colorless and odorless, causes loss of consciousness, muscle relaxation, and short-term amnesia.”
Hearing that list of effects, Li Huowang widened his eyes. “There’s such a thing? Where did you get it?”
This stuff was far superior to the stunners.
“Through legitimate channels,” Qing Wanglai put the test tube back in his pocket. “It’s better not to fight if possible. With these people, we can try negotiating with them—it benefits both sides.”
“Even if negotiations fail, we’ll know what their demands are, which helps us understand the nature of the projections.”
“Fine, no time to waste. Let’s go.”
Li Huowang didn’t discard the stunners or the rebar—they might come in handy if Qing Wanglai’s drug failed. They carried the items down in small groups.
As they descended, Li Huowang asked Qing Wanglai, “Since Zhao Lei has confessed, did you send him abroad as per our agreement?”
“No,” he shook his head. “Zhao Lei has betrayed them. He dares not leave—he’d die if he tried.”
“Whether he wants to or not, he’s now on our side. I’ve set him free. Give him some time, and he’ll definitely come back to us.”
“You’re so sure? You know him well?”
“Not really. But he used to be on our side.”
While they chatted, Qian Fu passed by quickly, his head down.
Just as he turned the corner, Li Huowang caught him glancing sideways. His eyes were filled with fear and shock.
“Qian Fu, wait. I have something to ask you,” Li Huowang said, slowly reaching for the stunners in his pocket.
But upon hearing this, Qian Fu ran faster.
“Quick, chase him! His personality has switched!” Urgent, Li Huowang took off after him.
As Li Huowang and the others closed in, Qian Fu, cornered and desperate, cowered in a corner of the staircase, gripping the sharp rebar tightly and thrusting it toward Li Huowang’s chest.
With the sharp tip forcing him back two steps, the others followed suit, forming a semi-circle around Qian Fu, who leaned against the brick wall.
“You… what the hell do you psychos want to do!” Qian Fu shouted furiously.
“You go crazy, why drag me into it!”
“I’ve suffered enough! What do you want from me before you let me go?! Get out of my way! I need to go back to the psychiatric ward! I need treatment!”
“Qian Fu, don’t be rash. Look at me. Look into my face,” Qing Wanglai stepped forward, trying to calm him. “Do you remember who I am? We’ve met before.”
“Who are you? You’re all delusional lunatics! Qing Wanglai, you’re the craziest among them!”
“Stop pretending! I know everything! You killed those two orderlies! You framed someone else!”
Hearing this, Qing Wanglai winced slightly and whispered to Li Huowang, “This is getting complicated. Qian Fu’s alternate personality is unstable.”
“Is that so?” Holding the stunners tightly, Li Huowang looked at Qing Wanglai’s profile without saying anything.
“I’m telling you again! You go crazy, but don’t drag me in! Move aside!”
“All right, we’ll step aside. Don’t get excited,” under Qing Wanglai’s command, everyone cleared the stairs.
Just as Qian Fu trembled and rushed downstairs, he suddenly saw something shiny fall in front of him. It shattered with a “crack.”
Qian Fu paused for a second, then realized it was a test tube, with liquid spilling out.
Just as he prepared to dash further down, his consciousness began to blur, his limbs went weak, and soon he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
