Chapter 948: Dragon Vein
Chapter 948: The Dragon Vein
Zuoqiu Yong hovered in mid-air, gazing down at Li Sui, Li Huowang, Bai Lingmiao, and the Dice.
Even though they had just orchestrated the death of his other half, there was no trace of seriousness on the face of the Zuoqiu Yong suspended above.
"Oh my~ I admit I underestimated you lot. I never expected you to coordinate so well, but if you think these little tricks are enough to defeat me—to defeat a God of Flesh like myself—then I’m afraid you’ve made a grave miscalculation."
Li Huowang glared at the complacent old eunuch, his eyes burning. "You are a God, but what makes you think I am not?"
In the next heartbeat, Li Sui surged toward Li Huowang, peeling back the skin on his back as she and her dense thicket of tentacles and human heads burrowed inside.
The black tentacles, wrapped around the heads, distended Li Huowang’s frame, erupting from every pore of his body, writhing and fluttering in a grotesque dance.
"Go!" As Li Huowang grabbed the sleeve of Bai Lingmiao’s robe, the two of them hurtled toward Zuoqiu Yong at breakneck speed, clearly intending to repeat the same strategy they had used against his previous incarnation.
Yet, Zuoqiu Yong seemed to anticipate their move. He raised both hands toward the sky.
A dragon’s roar erupted. Sixteen golden dragons surged from all directions, and under the gaze of all present, they coiled around the two Zuoqiu Yongs, transforming into sixteen intricate, pulsating tattoos upon their skin.
Seeing this, Li Huowang’s expression turned grim. With those sixteen shimmering golden tattoos encasing him, any Heavenly Dao not belonging to Zuoqiu Yong was repelled—including Bai Lingmiao’s Heavenly Dao of Death.
This was disastrous; if Bai Lingmiao could not infuse him with death, the creature would never perish.
"Strip the dragon veins from him!" As Li Huowang’s command fell, his tentacles lashed out toward Zuoqiu Yong.
Li Sui’s tentacles flattened, spreading like murals across Zuoqiu Yong’s body, attempting to entwine the sixteen dragon veins.
But with a mere flick of Zuoqiu Yong’s wrists, the tentacles were severed inch by inch, crumbling into ash.
The next moment, his eyes flared, and his flesh rapidly took on a draconic form. Within a hundred paces, everything froze in place.
Zuoqiu Yong smiled faintly. "It seems you are ignorant of the origin of these dragon veins. They carry the Heavenly Dao of the God of Order, Panci. Knowing I wield sixteen threads of the Orderly Dao, you still dare to challenge me head-on?"
"I truly cannot tell if you are merely newborn calves unafraid of tigers, or as dim-witted as swine."
Li Huowang, suspended in the distance, struggled desperately, yet he could not move a muscle, as if his body were carved from wood and never meant to stir.
Facing imminent dismemberment, Li Huowang’s eyes widened. Peng Longteng, wreathed in flames and mounted on a giant steed, suddenly appeared at Zuoqiu Yong’s flank.
She raised her massive, burning halberd and brought it crashing down.
But that was not all. The white-robed Zhuge Yuan leaped from behind Peng Longteng, brandishing his judge’s brush as he charged.
As Li Huowang’s mind raced, every person he had encountered or fought over the years manifested, rushing toward Zuoqiu Yong.
These manifestations were also struck by the Heavenly Dao of Order, threatening to turn them from living beings into frozen statues.
Yet, whenever this occurred, under Li Huowang’s gaze, the frozen figure would fade into transparency, and a brand-new version would be conjured in its place.
Though their strength varied, they were no match for Zuoqiu Yong, but they bought Li Huowang the time he needed to break free.
The filthy, bloated body of Master Jingxin plummeted from the sky, slamming into Li Huowang and the others.
Her greasy, massive frame enveloped them like a ball of flesh, rolling rapidly to carry them beyond the hundred-pace radius of Zuoqiu Yong.
As Li Huowang regained control of his body, he saw a rain of gore falling from the sky. Every existence he had just conjured—including Danyangzi and Zhuge Yuan—had been shredded into bone and gristle, scattering across the earth.
They were real. They truly possessed flesh and blood.
The power his opponent displayed was overwhelming, surpassing the sum of everything Li Huowang had ever faced.
"Father, do not panic. He has dragon veins, and so do we."
"Brother Li!" A familiar voice rang out from behind. Li Huowang turned to see five dragon veins swimming toward him, led by none other than Gao Zhijian.
Clad in imperial robes, Gao Zhijian lay atop the layered dragon veins, his long, slender body twisting as he navigated toward them.
"Brother Li, we have come to help!" Gao Zhijian, from within the palace, had known the situation was dire.
He had not hesitated to bring the other dragon veins, arriving just in the nick of time.
Seeing the potent dragon aura radiating from the veins, Li Huowang nodded firmly at Gao Zhijian and slammed his hands onto the ground.
The earth shook, and a shimmering bronze tree erupted from the soil, hoisting the five dragon veins aloft. Li Huowang’s hands, along with Li Sui’s dense mass of tentacles, began to weave seals in unison, initiating the Dragon-Slaying Immortal-Severing Array.
Two dragon horns sprouted from Bai Lingmiao’s forehead, scales rippled across Li Huowang’s skin, and even the heads of Li Sui’s tentacles began to sprout dragon whiskers.
"Oh my, I never expected the dragon veins of the Great Liang to be so fond of you," Zuoqiu Yong said, smiling as he approached Li Huowang.
Li Huowang exhaled deeply, two streams of white mist venting from his nostrils. He took a step toward Zuoqiu Yong, then another.
The sensation of being frozen was gone; even the Heavenly Dao of Growth and the entire Yansheng array could no longer affect him.
"Since we both possess the Heavenly Dao of Order now, it seems we are left with nothing but brute force?" Li Huowang gritted his teeth, clenching his fists as his tentacles rose high.
"And it appears I have more people on my side." As the veins in his forehead bulged, a dense crowd of figures materialized around him—his new reinforcements.
At the sixth stage, he had truly achieved the power to make his thoughts reality.
"Heh~" Zuoqiu Yong smiled, picking up a broken bone and using it like a blade to scrape the flesh from his own hand. "Is that so? I don't think so."
