Chapter 954: Superposition State

Chapter 954: Superposition

"Li Huowang! What are you doing!"

"Stop it at once! She is one of us!"

"I told you this kid was unreliable; why did we have to drag him out of that asylum?" Listening to the increasingly agitated voices in his ears, Li Huowang gritted his teeth and shook his head violently, yet the shaking did little to dampen the cacophony.

Xuan Pin beside him seemed to be saying something, but Li Huowang could not make it out; the noise was too loud, far too loud!

It was not just the voices; the entire world had grown unstable, with inexplicable images flickering in and out of existence.

It was as if two worlds were overlapping. Two distinct realities were bleeding into one another, merging into a harmonious yet grotesque third existence—a higher plane projected upon the two, a totality of all things.

But Li Huowang had more pressing matters; he had no time to ponder these people.

"I... I have attained the Great Dao! I must save the Great Liang... I must... I must stop Zuo Qiuyong, I must kill her!" Li Huowang shook his head hard, and as the surroundings stabilized, he stomped his right foot, instantly shifting from Da Qi back to the capital of Great Liang.

The sky darkened suddenly. Li Huowang looked up to see Zuo Qiuyong’s colossal form eclipsing the sun.

Zuo Qiuyong laughed maniacally, raising a foot to crush the White Lotus sect’s hall; the sound of snapping bones echoed as all the believers inside were instantly pulverized.

Death here was no different than elsewhere; as Zuo Qiuyong descended upon Great Liang, the Dao of Growth radiating from him consumed the entire capital.

Beams sprouted leaves, chairs grew buds, and the city was soon smothered by a rapidly swaying, encroaching forest.

A seed could sprout, bloom, and wither within the span of half an incense stick.

If the flora suffered so, the living in the capital fared far worse. Bizarre, horrific phenomena turned the city into a living hell.

In the short time since Zuo Qiuyong’s arrival, most of the city’s inhabitants had aged twenty years, while new, parasitic life bloomed rapidly from the cooling corpses.

Li Huowang knew he had to stop him! If this continued, everyone in the capital would perish!

"What do you intend to do? I can try to have the Ministry of Heaven coordinate with you," Xuan Pin demanded. He did not know what plan Li Huowang held, but having reached this point, he had no choice but to trust him.

Li Huowang said nothing. When he saw Zuo Qiuyong reach down toward Bai Lingmiao in the city below, murderous intent flared in his eyes.

"Aaaah!" Li Huowang roared, drawing the weapon from his back and charging forward, plunging it deep into the giant’s flesh.

Even as the enemy struck his head repeatedly with a yellow umbrella, Li Huowang’s resolve did not waver.

Just as he drove the blade through, several hands reached out from behind, pulling him back with desperate force.

"Let go of me! You know nothing! This person is a traitor! She is a Siling of Fusheng Heaven!"

"We killed their people, so this is their retaliation!" Zuo Qiuyong recoiled in shock, eyes darting to the man before him. How had this boy become so formidable in such a short time?

Feeling the hands clutching his body, Li Huowang struggled violently, bellowing, "Believe me! Everything I say is true! You must believe me!"

"In the timeline of the past! This woman never existed! She is a Siling of Fusheng Heaven; she snuck in to sow discord among us!" As he spoke, two tattooed hands and a pair of slender, fair-skinned hands suddenly released their grip.

With six hands gone, he broke free with ease.

He gripped his military knife and charged toward the woman in the yellow dress who was clutching her wound.

Seeing her panic and flee into the villa, Li Huowang gave chase.

He kicked the door open, only to be met with a vast, white expanse of brain matter.

Li Huowang knew this was merely a trick; she was inside! He had to find her!

He dove into Zuo Qiuyong’s mind, fins and webbing sprouting from his skin as he thrashed through the viscous depths, hunting the traitor.

Suddenly, a light flared behind him. Li Huowang squinted, and as his eyes adjusted, he saw a woman’s sedan barreling toward him. Damn it!

She was driving! As the car sped toward him, Li Huowang did not flinch; he leaped, slamming his body against the windshield.

With a screech of metal, his knife carved a deep gouge into the glass.

"Bang!" His head bloodied, the glass shattered into a web of cracks, yet his eyes remained locked on the woman inside.

"Madman, you madman!" she screamed in terror, jerking the steering wheel to shake him off.

As they reached a stalemate, a horn blared. Li Huowang glanced left to see Qing Wanglai’s luxury car hurtling toward them.

With a sickening crunch, the two vehicles collided, and Li Huowang was thrown clear. He was wounded, but the woman’s car was worse, its hood crumpled and smoking.

Ignoring his injuries, Li Huowang lunged with his knife, dragged the woman from the wreckage, and pinned her by the throat.

Just as he prepared to strike, he paused and shouted toward the nearby villa: "Miaomiao! Come here! Grant death to this Siling! I must kill her!" The Silings of Fusheng Heaven were immortal; one had to bestow death upon them first, or the killing would be in vain.

"Wait... wait!" The woman in yellow, her face pierced by glass shards, clawed at his hands in a final struggle.

"Wait! Li Huowang, you cannot win! We have what you want! Cooperate with us!"
