Chapter 101: Showdown, I Am an Official Mage
Chapter 101: The Truth Revealed—I Am a Full Magus
Levidan gazed at Li Wei, whose reluctance was plain to see, and spoke with solemn earnestness.
"One must not be too selfish. Having enjoyed the benefits the Tower has bestowed upon you, you also bear the duty to contribute in return."
Li Wei’s face twitched slightly.
Levidan smiled gently. "Of course, considering you’ve only just become an Apprentice Magus, I can grant you some leniency."
"If you wish to serve the Tower through other means, I could postpone your teaching duties—give you time to prepare."
"I hear Apprentice Li Wei is quite wealthy—using mid-tier magical elixirs for cultivation already."
He cast a sidelong glance at Li Wei, fingers subtly rubbing together in a universal gesture.
Li Wei caught the implication instantly.
It was nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt at extortion.
He felt utterly speechless.
Levidan was a full Magus, a scion of one of Maple City’s most illustrious noble houses—
and yet he stooped to such petty greed?
Truly, it was beyond belief.
Suddenly, Li Wei smiled. "I recall… full Magi aren’t required to teach apprentices, are they?"
Levidan stiffened slightly. "Well, yes. And what of it?"
He sneered. "Surely you’re not claiming you’ve already become a full Magus?"
Li Wei feigned astonishment. "Oh! How did you know?"
Levidan’s face twitched. His expression darkened, growing grim.
"Hmph! Apprentice Li Wei, deception is no virtue for a mage."
"Becoming a Magus isn’t something you simply declare."
"Only after formal recognition by the Tower may you claim that title."
"And remember—you are but an apprentice. Show me proper respect!"
"I am a full Magus!"
Levidan glared, his eyes sharp with indignation.
Yet Li Wei had no intention of showing him courtesy.
Without another word, he strode past into the third-floor hall of the Tower.
"Excuse me," he said coolly. "I need to go in."
Levidan let out a cold laugh, refusing to believe such nonsense.
How old was Li Wei? Barely three years since entering the Tower—
he hadn’t even finished the theoretical courses.
At best, he’d gotten lucky becoming an apprentice.
Did he really think awakening a supernatural trait was that easy?
Still, Levidan stepped aside, watching as Li Wei approached the Arcane Steward.
"Application for Full Magus Qualification Assessment," Li Wei declared.
The Arcane Steward replied, "Apprentice Li Wei, each apprentice may apply once per year. Confirm application?"
"Confirmed."
"Acknowledged. Initiating Full Magus Qualification Test. Proceed to testing chamber."
Rumble—rumble—
The central golden doors groaned open, radiating light.
Beams of laser-like light shot from the Steward’s eyes, arrows pointing toward the testing grounds.
Li Wei walked toward the glowing doors.
Seeing this, Levidan quickly followed.
Word spread swiftly among the Tower’s full Magi.
Those with time rushed over to witness the spectacle.
The testing chamber lay on the fourth floor—a space reserved solely for full Magi and the candidate.
Beyond the golden threshold, Li Wei found himself in a vast circular hall.
At its center stood a magical stele—
identical to the one used during the Initiate Trials.
The voice of the Arcane Steward echoed from above.
"Step One: Conduct mana strength assessment."
As Li Wei approached the stele, figures began materializing around the hall.
"Magus Levidan, greetings."
"Magus George, good morning."
"Magus Guze."
"Magus Rota."
...
The mages exchanged polite nods.
Guze and Rota spotted Li Wei and blinked in surprise—
they hadn’t expected him to reveal his strength so soon.
Levidan chuckled. "I suspect you’ve all come for nothing."
George said nothing, glanced briefly at Li Wei, then turned to leave.
Guze and Rota exchanged a knowing glance, smiling faintly, remaining silent.
Li Wei placed his hand upon the stele and channeled his magic.
After a moment, a number shimmered into view atop the stone.
"Mana Intensity: 648."
All present stared, stunned.
Guze and Rota had known Li Wei met the standard for full Magus.
But this level of power? They hadn’t anticipated such strength.
Upon ascending to the rank of an official mage, most found their mana intensity hovering at just over three hundred.
A mana intensity exceeding six hundred had already reached the standard of a first-tier, mid-level mage.
Leviathan’s face was a mask of sheer astonishment.
Unable to believe his eyes, he barked, "You must have cheated!"
Hearing this, George turned to look toward the magical stone monument.
He froze for a brief moment, before listening to Leviathan loudly accuse Levi of cheating.
Glancing sideways at Leviathan, George spoke, "Are you questioning the accuracy of the magical stone monument?"
At those words, Leviathan fell into a silent hush.
George possessed greater seniority and far superior strength.
Backed by the prestigious Leinst family, Leviathan did not truly fear George.
He was simply embarrassed, realizing he had lost his composure.
A silhouette glided into the grand hall.
"Mage Lilith."
Catching sight of the newcomer, George offered his greetings.
Acknowledging him, Lilith gave George a slight nod in return.
She turned her gaze upon Levi, a faint light flickering deep within her eyes.
The voice of the magical steward resonated through the room.
"Step two, please proceed with the awakening of extraordinary traits test."
"During the testing process, please display the capabilities of your extraordinary traits to the fullest extent possible."
"The test results shall remain confidential, with only the pass or fail status being announced."
Hearing this, Levi withdrew his palm.
He cast a fireball spell.
It was a normal invocation, without any gathering of power.
The magical stone monument projected a beam of light that enveloped the fireball in Levi's hand.
A moment later, the analysis concluded.
"Awakened low-grade elemental extraordinary trait, test passed."
"Congratulations on becoming an official mage."
Levi felt a sudden vibration inside his pocket.
He drew out the magical badge, which automatically drifted through the air toward the front of the magical stone monument.
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!
A green laser swept across the magical badge, etching intricate lines upon its surface.
After a brief while, the magical badge floated gently downward.
Levi reached out to catch it.
A single star had been added to the face of the magical badge, symbolizing his status as a first-tier official mage.
Holding the badge, Levi walked over to stand before Leviathan.
His face was bright with a beaming smile as he said, "Mage Leviathan, I didn't lie to you, did I?"
Staring at that smiling face, the corner of Leviathan’s mouth twitched.
Noticing the presence of others around them, he let out a cold snort, turned on his heel, and walked away.
George smiled and said, "Congratulations, the youngest official mage in the history of Maple Leaf City."
Levi's future was boundless, and George was keen to foster goodwill.
Levi replied with a smile, "Many thanks, Mage George. I shall count on your guidance in the days ahead."
George chuckled softly, "You flatter me. With your talent, surpassing me is only a matter of time."
"If you have any questions regarding your cultivation in the future, feel free to seek me out so we can discuss them; after all, mages must converse with one another to foster mutual growth."
Levi nodded in agreement, "Then I shall thank you in advance."
Turning his head, Levi caught sight of Lilith, his eyes flickering slightly as he feigned unfamiliarity.
