Chapter 127: July's Flying Flowers, Another Crystal Flower
Chapter 127: Flying Blossoms of July, Another Crystal Flower
For some time afterward, Livi did not leave the wizard’s tower.
He remained within its walls, immersed in studying basic alchemy and refining the fireball spell.
When weariness set in, he would turn to unraveling the invisibility armor incantation, practicing telekinesis and illusion-form techniques.
On the third day after his return, Guze and Rota came back.
Neither was injured, though they had been trapped underground for over a day.
Livi had twice gotten lost beneath the earth himself, yet each time swiftly found an exit—luck, perhaps.
In the blink of an eye, June passed.
The first day of July arrived.
Jimmy came looking for Livi, bringing with him the monthly payment.
Had it not been for Jimmy’s visit, Livi wouldn’t have realized a full month had slipped by.
Jimmy approached cradling a small wooden box.
“Mr. Livi, this is last month’s payment.”
Livi stared at the box in surprise. “How much is there? Needs a box now?”
Jimmy smiled. “The share from Fortune Basin Trading Guild has come in, along with letters from your readers.”
“Oh,” Livi murmured, realization dawning. Of course.
He took the box—it felt heavier than expected—and immediately handed it to his shadow attendant.
“Mr. Livi,” Jimmy asked, “is next month’s manuscript ready?”
Livi flushed slightly. He’d completely forgotten.
This past month had been consumed by training, so intense and relentless that time itself had vanished, and with it, any thought of writing.
“Well… I’ll finish it in a few days. I’ll give you both June’s and July’s together then.”
Jimmy sighed. “Please finish soon, Mr. Livi. Otherwise, we won’t make it into next month’s printing.”
“Yes, yes. I will. Definitely.”
After seeing Jimmy off, Livi returned to his study.
The shadow attendant had already placed the box upon the desk.
Inside lay a coin pouch and a stack of letters.
“Hmm? Another crystal flower.”
Livi’s eyes widened as he picked up one of the letters.
This time, the crystal blossom was pinned directly to the seal of the envelope—as if to ensure he wouldn’t miss it, couldn’t possibly overlook it.
“Shadow, bring me the crystal flower from the bottom-left drawer of the wardrobe.”
The attendant obeyed.
Livi compared the two flowers. Identical. Clearly from the same hand.
He opened the letter. The content was much like the last—impatient words from someone who had waited too long for a reply.
A plea for him to take the crystal flower and journey to Feihua City, to meet the sender in person.
Livi frowned, puzzled. Why did this person insist so desperately on meeting him?
If anyone should be chasing stars, it ought to be them coming to him—not the other way around.
He set the flower aside, ignoring it once more.
Then he leafed through the rest of the letters—one by one.
A diversion, a brief respite from the fatigue of endless cultivation.
The letters varied wildly: some praised him, others cursed; a few demanded he rewrite his novel, claiming the plot lacked logic.
Livi shook his head. “Good thing I’m anonymous. Otherwise, I might get ambushed the moment I step outside.”
To this day, the Spark Literature Society had not revealed the true identity behind *Dragon Knight*.
Some complained the recent chapters were dull, lacking fire.
Reading those words, Livi fetched the deluxe edition of *Dragon Knight* that Jimmy had given him.
He skimmed the story, and indeed—the past few months’ narrative had grown flat.
Too absorbed in training, he hadn’t devoted time to crafting new climaxes.
His gaze lingered on the title, and a faint smile touched his lips.
“It’s time the Dragon Knight truly earned his name.”
He set down the letters, untied the coin pouch.
Inside was a slip of paper:
*June manuscript: 13 gold, 20 silver.*
*Fortune Basin Trading Guild regional share (Great Desert): 68 gold, 88 silver, 88 copper.*
Livi blinked.
“That much?”
“How many copies has Fortune Basin actually sold?”
In Maple City, *Dragon Knight* was priced at ten coppers per volume.
Elsewhere, slightly higher.
This was only his cut—Fortune Basin must have earned four or five times what he received.
That meant they’d sold at least three to four hundred thousand copies across the desert region alone.
To date, the Spark Literature Society had released thirty-six issues of *Dragon Knight*.
The books had grown richer—no longer mere text, but now adorned with simple illustrated sketches.
More vivid, more engaging.
Viewed this way, the numbers weren’t astonishing.
An average of just over ten thousand per issue.
Livi chuckled softly. “I suppose this counts as ‘over ten thousand subscribed,’ doesn’t it?”
Back in his former life, such a dream had been unattainable.
Yet here, in this foreign world, it had come true—unexpectedly.
Still, such things no longer mattered to him.
He tucked the coins away, picked up his pen, and began to write.
He wrote without pause until noon struck, stopping only when his stomach growled in protest.
He told Shadow Servant to go find some food.
"Magic Steward, claim this month's benefit."
"This month's benefit has been credited. Please check accordingly."
Li Wei flipped over the magic insignia; the number on its back changed to "7."
Before Shadow Servant returned with lunch, Li Wei wrote a little more.
After eating, he rested for a while.
In the afternoon, he meditated to cultivate magical power. At night, he continued writing his manuscript, and in deep dreams, he simulated spells.
Five days later, Li Wei handed the manuscript to Jimmy, who had come repeatedly urging him for it.
Smiling, Li Wei said, "Next time, remember to remind me earlier—otherwise I might forget."
Jimmy nodded earnestly. "Mr. Li Wei, rest assured. It’s all on me."
"Of course," Li Wei quickly added, "don’t be too frequent. No need to keep coming like these past few days. Just give me a gentle nudge every now and then."
Jimmy grinned. "This round of manuscript won’t disappoint you," Li Wei said with quiet satisfaction.
Jimmy carried the manuscript back to Spark Literary Society.
Walking, he began flipping through the pages.
At first, he held no great expectations—only the habitual curiosity to see what would happen next to the protagonist, Morey.
But as he read, he became utterly absorbed.
By the final page, his face was pale with shock.
"What the hell?! Is this even allowed?"
"Move, unless you want to die!"
Whoosh!
A carriage roared past, nearly striking him.
Jimmy broke into a cold sweat, realizing he couldn't read and walk at the same time.
Regaining his composure, he sprinted toward Spark Literary Society, clutching the manuscript tightly.
"Director Gus! This is Mr. Li Wei’s new manuscript—explosive content! Next month will be absolutely legendary!"
Jimmy burst into the office, breathless and excited.
Inside, Director Gus was seated with Monis, deep in conversation.
Seeing Jimmy’s frantic entrance, Gus scolded, "How many times must I say it? Knock before entering. Don’t barge in like a storm."
Monis waved him off. "Don’t blame him yet. Let’s see what Li Wei wrote that got him so worked up."
They read.
And when they finished, their expressions were those of people gazing upon an entirely new world.
"Is this… really possible?"
Gus stared, dumbfounded.
Monis sat in complex silence, his worldview trembling slightly.
So this was what a Dragon Knight truly was—not the kind everyone imagined.
But… could a dragon truly transform into a human?
Even he felt a surge of curiosity.
He’d heard countless tales of evil dragons abducting princesses—but a knight riding a dragon? That, he had never seen.
