Chapter 135: Torres Tower's Secret
Chapter 135: The Secret of Toresta
Levi cast the first-tier Illusion Morphing Art.
The illusion he conjured was lifelike and vivid.
As the rose fell into his palm, Levi could feel the softness of its petals.
This was no longer a mere illusion, but a phantom object.
It possessed not only visual presence, but also a tangible texture.
Simultaneously real and ephemeral.
It gave Levi a profound sense of déjà vu.
"Dream creation?"
A sudden thought stirred in Levi's mind.
He began to harbor doubts regarding Toresta's true identity.
The things produced by the Illusion Morphing Art bore a seventy-to-eighty percent resemblance to dream creations.
Could Toresta also be a dreamwalker?
Perhaps even a dream thief, or a dream weaver?
Levi pondered for a long time, yet found no answer within his heart.
Toresta was a spirit-type mage, possessing a sharper perception of the dream world than ordinary people.
Even if he had become a dreamwalker, it would be entirely natural.
Not everyone possessed the "Great Dreamwalking Art" like Levi, allowing them to enter and exit the dreamscape at will.
Most dreamwalkers merely stumbled into the dream world by pure accident.
Or perhaps, they "awakened" to the realization that they were within a dream, thereby breaking free from their dream bubble to wander the dream world.
Those with higher spiritual perception were far more likely to become dreamwalkers.
"Perhaps it is just an illusion, because I am still within the dream, and my consciousness is influencing it, making the phantom object seem like a dream creation."
With a mere thought, Levi exited the dream world.
He returned to the real world.
Levi cast the Illusion Morphing Art once more.
A small lightbulb materialized before him, illuminating the dim room.
The brightness of the bulb shifted in accordance with Levi's will.
"The Light Spell? Haha~"
Levi let out a soft laugh.
The bulb floated in midair, its radiance illuminating only a three-foot radius around him.
A vibrant rose appeared in his hand.
With a slight nudge of his mind, Levi reached out and picked up a night-fragrance flower sitting by the nightstand.
The rose in his hand shifted, transforming into a blue-purple night-fragrance flower.
The two flowers in his left and right hands looked identical.
The phantom object in his left hand was like a perfect duplicate.
Yet Levi could still perceive the subtle differences between them.
"Weight, scent, the minute textures... phantom objects still differ from the real thing."
The tactile sensation was merely a false perception, lacking the heft born of true mass.
Holding it felt as though he held it, yet held nothing at all.
When staring directly at the phantom night-fragrance flower, the sense of touch would intensify.
But closing his eyes made his palm feel as if it held nothing but air, a cluster of fluffy cotton, lacking reality.
"The fake remains fake after all, though if paired with props, it suffices to blend the false with the true."
With a thought from Levi, the night-fragrance flower in his left hand vanished without a trace.
The genuine night-fragrance flower in his right hand transformed into a purple rose.
The texture felt real, the visual was real, and even the fragrance of the flower was present.
It was as though it were a genuine rose.
"Heh, it is more than enough to fool anyone who doesn't know their flowers."
Levi placed the purple rose back into the vase.
Among a bundle of night-fragrance flowers, a solitary rose mixed in looked somewhat peculiar.
Levi allowed the magical glow to envelop the night-fragrance flower, wishing to see how long the Illusion Morphing Art could sustain itself.
Through testing, Levi discovered that the Illusion Morphing Art shared its origin with dream creation.
Toresta's identity was growing rather complicated.
Levi looked at the purple rose.
"At the very least, he is still my teacher for now."
Toresta had treated him quite well.
Judging a person by their actions rather than their hidden motives, Levi still acknowledged Toresta as his teacher.
Thinking of this, Levi could not help but ponder a deeper matter.
If Toresta was indeed a dreamwalker, then had Levi's reckless use of the Great Dreamwalking Art within the mage tower been discovered long ago?
The answer remained unknown for the time being.
At least, Toresta had never spoken of it to his face.
Levi would simply act as though he knew nothing at all.
"Aside from the phantom objects that blur the line between real and fake, the first-tier Illusion Morphing Art has another crucial effect."
Levi cast a Fireball Spell, and then applied the Illusion Morphing Art.
The color of the fireball in his palm began to shift, and its shape began to alter. The fireball transformed into an ice-blue arrow.
"Spell camouflage!"
The corners of Levi's mouth curled slightly, revealing the sly smile of a schemer.
An Ice Arrow Spell suddenly turning into a Fireball Spell would undoubtedly catch any enemy off guard.
Spell camouflage was merely a visual effect; the Fireball Spell remained a Fireball Spell.
At a critical moment, it could yield unexpected results.
Dispelling the fireball in his hand, Levi activated his Invisible Armor.
Cast Illusionary Form.
The invisible armor transformed into a suit of metallic plate, making Li Wei appear as a warrior clad in battle gear.
A subtle shift stirred within Li Wei’s heart—an idea had taken root.
Click!
The door clicked shut.
Li Wei dissipated his magical energy and glanced toward the doorway.
In the dead of night, Luo Ta slipped out alone, quietly.
“Master Luo Ta—have you encountered some trouble these past few days?”
The thought flickered through Li Wei’s mind.
To know your enemy and know yourself ensures victory in every battle.
Quickly donning his cloak of invisibility, Li Wei followed in Luo Ta’s footsteps.
Rather than wait passively for Luo Ta to drag him into danger, he preferred to seize control.
He tailed Luo Ta to a civilian residence in Feihua City.
Luo Ta glanced left and right, ensuring no one was watching, then knocked on the door—three long, three short.
The door opened. Luo Ta slipped inside.
“Shadow Servant.”
Li Wei stepped onto the shadow beneath his feet, scaling the roof. From above, he watched Luo Ta enter the backyard.
There stood a mature woman wrapped in a purple sable coat, a slender cigarette holder between her fingers. Voluptuous, her figure swayed with quiet elegance.
“Ivlyn,” Luo Ta called her name.
Ivlyn took a slow drag, exhaled a ribbon of smoke, and said, “So you still intend to help them?”
Luo Ta’s voice trembled with pain. “Though the Sett family abandoned my parents eighteen years ago… they remain my blood kin. I cannot stand idle while the Sett lineage is erased…”
“My parents would never forgive me if they saw.”
“I’m sorry, Ivlyn.”
Regret flooded his face.
Ivlyn shook her head. “It’s your choice. I respect it.”
“But after tonight, do not come back.”
“I will resolve this crisis for the Sett family. You may go.”
She dismissed him with cold finality.
Luo Ta opened his mouth—words caught in his throat.
In the end, he could only turn and flee, defeated.
After Luo Ta vanished, Ivlyn lifted her gaze to the rooftop, her voice calm: “Sir, having watched so long—don’t you think it’s time to show yourself?”
Li Wei, seeing her eyes fixed upon his hiding place, knew he’d been exposed.
He leapt from the roof, landing softly on the ground.
“How did you find me?” he asked.
Ivlyn tapped her cigarette. “Scent… You carry the fragrance of night-blooming jasmine. I dislike that perfume.”
Li Wei froze slightly.
He sniffed—he smelled nothing.
Ivlyn continued, “Your invisibility is too crude. It cannot deceive spiritual sense.”
Li Wei stared at her in astonishment.
He had been at least twenty or thirty meters away—yet she had sensed him.
Such formidable spiritual power meant Ivlyn was at least a third-rank mage.
Seeing this, Li Wei revealed his identity.
He had no desire to unknowingly offend a powerful sorceress.
“I am a friend of Luo Ta’s,” he said.
Ivlyn inhaled deeply from her cigarette. “And?”
“I wanted to see if there was anything I could do to help him,” Li Wei replied.
“How thoughtful of you. Return home. This matter does not concern you.” Her tone was light, dismissive.
Li Wei turned to leave.
But just as he pivoted, a sudden thought struck him. He looked back.
“What are you and Luo Ta to each other?”
“Teacher,” she said.
