Chapter 206: Upgrading the Invisibility Cloak
Chapter 206 Upgrading the Cloak of Invisibility
Li Wei returned to the Mage Tower.
The Shadow Servant followed close behind.
He also brought back the archer's money pouch.
Li Wei glanced at it, then stowed it in his spatial ring.
Not much money, only a dozen or so gold coins.
"Shadow Servant, go keep watch at the Rhinester family entrance, see if Tyrell has returned."
"Yes, Master."
The Shadow Servant walked outside.
Li Wei counted the spoils within his spatial ring.
Giant python skin, eight Tier-3 Magic Cores, eleven Tier-2 Magic Cores, five Dragon Blood Grasses, three Dragon Scale Flowers, one Dragon Blood Tree.
There were also several pieces of Knight and Warrior class equipment, armor, greatswords, shields.
All from that battle against the Dragon Scale Ancient Tree.
Selling off the miscellaneous items should yield a hundred or two hundred gold coins.
"Compared to grinding through quests for money, arson and robbery are much faster."
"However, these items are a bit hot to handle; there's no opportunity to unload them now."
These items all belong to the Rhinester family.
They still bear the Rhinester family insignia.
If Li Wei dared to sell them, his identity would be exposed by the next day.
Wait until some time passes before fencing the stolen goods.
Or take them to a foreign land to sell.
"By the way, didn't Teacher Gusze say wandering merchants would come to Maple City?"
Li Wei had an idea; perhaps he could offload the troublesome stolen goods to the wandering merchants.
Wandering merchants wouldn't care if something was stolen goods.
The origins of their wares are rarely from legitimate channels.
Most typically, they meet bandits on the road, kill them all on the spot, and the spoils become new merchandise in the next city.
After figuring out how to handle the miscellaneous items, Li Wei considered how to deal with precious items like Dragon Blood Grass.
Compared to selling for coin, converting these things into combat power was naturally more important.
"Use them to craft potions?"
Li Wei checked his Alchemy rank.
It wasn't impossible.
After brief consideration, he made his decision.
Go to the library to scour alchemical records, see what fine things Dragon Blood Grass and Dragon Scale Flowers can brew.
"Strength Potion? What do I need this for?"
"Powerful Life Restoration Potion. Hmm, this is good, useful for saving lives."
"Potential Excitation Potion, boosts combat power, also a good thing."
Unfortunately, Li Wei found no potion recipes capable of directly increasing strength.
Presumably, such recipes were too precious to be stored in a public venue like the library.
Li Wei had also decided on the use for the rough hide.
Leaving the Mage Tower, he arrived at the Professional Association.
"Hello, I wish to meet Master Trotska."
"Tell him, Li Wei requests an audience."
"Very well, please wait a moment."
After waiting a short while in the Professional Association hall, Willy emerged to lead Li Wei into the backyard.
Li Wei glanced at the guard at the gate, thinking: Having to do this every time is far too troublesome.
It would be nice to possess a member badge.
Even a lowest-tier Iron Member badge.
However, obtaining a member badge from the Professional Association is not easy.
Either one must have made significant contributions to the Professional Association.
Or one's fame is so great that the Professional Association actively delivers a member badge.
Obviously, Li Wei satisfied neither condition.
Li Wei's reputation as a genius was quite renowned.
But it was limited to Maple City and the Mage Association.
The Professional Association did not pay much heed to his title of genius mage.
Potential is ultimately just potential.
If it were Kai, perhaps the Professional Association might actively deliver a member badge.
Kai and Li Wei are different.
The former is a genius mage who has already matured.
Arriving at Trotska's smithy.
Li Wei saw Trotska actually lying in the courtyard sunbathing.
Willy asked curiously, "What did you do to my father? Since returning from your place last time, he has become... more relaxed."
He originally meant to say lazy.
Trotska rose, smiling, "Li Wei, what brings you to seek me?"
Li Wei smiled, "Can't I come find you without business?"
"Heh, you are not the type to have such leisure," Trotska chuckled.
Li Wei nodded, producing the Cloak of Invisibility and the rough hide.
"Can you help me reinforce this piece of equipment?"
Trotska picked up the rough hide to inspect it, saying somewhat surprised, "What beast's skin is this? It is incredibly resilient."
"Giant python skin from a Dragon Blood strain." Li Wei replied.
"No wonder, looks like this skin's magic resistance is not poor either."
Trotska glanced at the Cloak of Invisibility in his hand, signaling Willy to take it.
Li Wei handed the invisibility cloak to Willie.
Troska spoke, "Enhancing the equipment is no issue, but payment is required."
Li Wei had not thought to take it for free.
Asking a forging master to assist with enhancement is not merely a matter of coin.
That Troska was willing to help made Li Wei quite pleased.
"No problem, how much is it?" Li Wei asked.
Troska remarked casually, "Settle the account together once the enhancement is finished."
"By the way, do you possess the monster core from this beast?"
Li Wei produced the core, asking with slight confusion, "What is the core needed for?"
"Using it purely to bolster the cloak's defense would be wasteful; possessing a core allows us to augment the invisibility effect."
"Then I shall entrust it to you, Master."
"Come collect it tomorrow afternoon."
Troska took the items and walked toward the courtyard.
Li Wei was somewhat surprised, not expecting such speed.
"Very well."
Exiting the Adventurer's Guild, a dark shadow merged into his own shadow.
"Tier has returned."
Li Wei received the message from his Shadow Servant.
He felt a touch of disappointment.
Yet he was not particularly surprised.
As a Grand Mage, Tier certainly would not lack means to preserve his life.
A sudden ambush might not necessarily succeed in killing him.
At best, it would force out his survival techniques.
This was also a favorable outcome.
Li Wei returned to the Mage Tower to engage in daily cultivation.
At night, he monitored Tier within the dream realm.
Tonight, Tier still failed to enter the dream.
Li Wei grew curious as to what he was thinking.
In such a case, he could not weaken Tier's power within the dream world.
During the latter half of the night, Li Wei was cultivating spells.
Suddenly, he noticed Tier appearing in the dream.
Li Wei's expression shifted; he prepared to drag him into the third layer of the dream.
However, he found Tier had been pulled into a dream bubble first.
He revealed a look of astonishment.
"What is happening?"
Li Wei observed closely, yet discovered the dream bubble had already vanished.
"Hidden away, it seems there is an issue with Tier."
Li Wei furrowed his brow.
The following day, Li Wei arrived at the Adventurer's Guild to retrieve the equipment.
Troska handed him the enhanced invisibility cloak.
"This invisibility cloak has been enhanced to Third-Order Fine Grade."
"The invisibility effect also reaches the standard of a Third-Order Invisibility Spell, undetectable by Insight Spells below Third-Order."
Li Wei displayed a look of delighted surprise.
"This... I am truly grateful, Master."
Troska chuckled, "Do not rejoice too soon; the enhancement fee is not trivial."
Li Wei's expression faltered slightly.
"How much?"
When Li Wei exited the Adventurer's Guild, his face bore an expression of pain over the cost.
Enhancing the invisibility cloak cost fourteen hundred gold coins.
Labor fees and cost-price discounts were not waived; rather, it was even more expensive than crafting the Origin Heart Necklace.
In terms of value, a Third-Order Fine Magic Item was indeed no less than this sum.
Li Wei lacked funds, so in the end, he used seven Third-Order Monster Cores to offset the cost.
